There is a huge bullying and racism problem- teachers and admins don't take bullying very seriously and this has led to many of the students targeting the special needs kids. I have been attending this school for less than a year and even I could tell that it needs some serious work, I even had other students attempting to pull my bra strap and despite me pleas- they just wouldn't stop. Not only does this school ignore the extreme bullying problem- the teachers also don't take their jobs seriously and tend to refuse to even make an ATTEMPT to teach us. Since this is an reoccurring issue we had been very behind on the curriculum and learning things very late. We also only have 3 class periods. At least they sort of have okay resources for the special needs kids? Doesn't really matter much when they spend most of their time being ridiculed for something they cant control. Overall, if you can, please don't come here.

I am a recent student of this school i have left due to the lack of disipline on bullies i went to this scool 7-9 the whole time i was at this school i was bullied and tourmented by fromer classmates because of my body size and apperance to others i would never wish for anyone to send their kids here in my personal opion this school should be shut down the amount of things that are hidden from public eye here is crazy when i was there tgey had to install vape detectors because multipule students kept vaping in the bathroom and classrooms

Unfortunately, this school does a terrible job preparing students for higher education if they graduate from here. Students who transfer to other schools in Wayne County show up way behind and struggle to catch up.

Elementary school was fine, but once the administration switched and the original Director of WPA left--the school went downhill. They only care about a buck now. They intake kids who get kicked out of public schools due to behavior and allow the good students to suffer because of it. Ultimately, the ones taking the spear of it all are the teachers, parents, and staff that really care about their kids'/students' education. WPA do better--you were created to be a choice school for parents who didn't want their children to attend public schools; not a backup plan for the bad kids who get dropped from public schools.

My son has been injured too many times at this school. Mr. Twitty does not take bullying very serious.

One of the selling points of this school is having access to the board however that does no good if they don't listen and make changes. Alot of current and former staff and parents don't agree with the leadership that's in place

In the first semester there has already been 8 projects due on top of almost daily worksheet/packets for homework. It's way to much and kids get no free time during the week because of the amount of homework given

My child has an IEP in math. He supposedly has an A in math however when going through his bookbag there's worksheet after worksheet of ungraded/uncorrected test and the papers that are graded had wrong answers but the teacher marked them has correct. He has tests that he got 6 out of 15 correct and was given a B grade for it.

Wayne Prep works hard to teach the scholars to be responsible for their actions. Bullying is not tolerated and dealt with swiftly. Scholars practice integrity, compassion and respect on a daily basis.

We have loved every minute of being at this school. My daughter has grown and thrived while attending Wayne Prep. The teachers have been good with communicating, and with working with our scholar on her goals. The environment is fun yet studious. I love that they teach leadership right along with the basic subjects.

The teachers at Wayne Prep are very involved in the scholar's academic progress and goals. They have great communication and work hard to make sure the scholars are learning and grasping new material.

The school has a long way to go to be where they want it. Our two children attended 3rd and 5th there last year starting in December. Everyone/everything seemed to good to be true and at the being of 4th and 6th we learned that was sadly true. We have always had our children in a public school setting and being military it's hard enough already to relocate and find a good school system for your children etc. So we heard about Wayne prep through a friend that was enrolling her son and figured we would check it out. Sad part is when you do the tour all these amazing things are told and then that all fades over time and you realize that's not the case. If you don't have the funds to expand then don't announce at a board meeting you are going to. If you aren't gonna make 6th have a middle school feel to it and have lockers and a newspaper etc then don't mention it to the students. We pulled our two children at the being of the 2016-2017 school year and put them back in public school where they are thriving and wanting to go to school again. I'm sure this school will be as amazing as they have set out to be at some point, but it won't be anytime soon in our opinions. My point of even writing a review is to point out that we had high hopes but we're told one thing and the outcome was not what we expected. Last thing when we pulled them it wasn't questioned or no one showed concern. If you don't find out why there is a high turn over and get feedback then you can't better the school and nothing is gonna change. So disappointing

My daughter who is in 3rd grade had been in public school up until this year. She has had an IEP since she was in Pre-school. In kindergarten, her teacher didn't follow her IEP at all, and while in 1st and 2nd grade they did better at following it. But it wasn't until this year at Wayne Preparatory Academy that we had a fully detailed IEP meeting that not only laid out what they had found in the results from her previous year retesting(since she turned 8) they laid out the plan in full detail in what they expect her to accomplish by the end of the year. I have been very Pleased with the communications the teachers have with the parents. This is the first time I feel like my daughter is truly understanding the work and excelling! Though this school is only a few years old I feel they are doing an amazing job!

Though they do send home homework, they send the full weeks worth of homework on Monday but does not collect it til Friday for grading! I feel like this allows the children to work on it at their own pace as long as they get the work done.

My children were in public school here in the district and were horribly bullied and were not properly set up for IEP's and 504's.

Upon starting WPA not only did they continue to follow the prior 504 they helped make them better and had proper professional testing done on our daughter. The leadership and personal skills they need as well in their adult daily lives is as important or even more important in my opinion than tests scores. Overall we've started our second year and my kids love love love wpa!

. There seems to be a sense of nepotism at the school in some of the hiring practices. The school needs better leadership that actually promotes teaching the basics as opposed to worrying about extra programs that do not work. I just learned that the teachers are given a 1 year contract. Half of the teachers will not return next year. This sucks, I'm sending my child back to the public school. I was interviewed for a teaching position but I need long term employment.

Wayne Preparatory Academy is a school that teaches our children the skills needed to become leaders in today's world! The teachers are topnotch, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the Principle (Dr. Forgette) is leading this school to excellence! Both of my children have had many difficulties being in the public school system until this year!!! My children are now more excited to learn and be a part of the community. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with Mrs. Preskitt (3rd grade teacher), Mr. Frederick (4th grade teacher), and Mrs. James (EC Coordinator). Thank you Wayne Prep for making such a huge impact on my family!!!
