I was a student at glow a while ago and i felt targeted by the staff and they lied to my parents about a lot of things that happened at the school I wasnt allowed to call my parents Nor was I allowed to have my phone during school they told my parents shes not the only one here who has to go with out a phone during the day that there was another student that had the same rules I would always come home tired and depressed I always felt a rush of anxiety every time I walked in the school I also had trouble breathing at the school a lot when I was feeling sick they said that I would be fine I was on the bathroom floor sitting bc I felt like I was gonna pass out and I told the other students in the bathroom to go get a teacher and the assistant principal walked in and said whats wrong I said I dont feel good I feel like passing out and she said why arent you going to the nurse then and I said bc I got really dizzy and she said thats no excuse she brought me out the bathroom and she checked my pulse on my wrist and noticed that it was really high so she took me to the nurse and the nurse checked me they later then called an ambulance to take me to the hospital then they told my mom and my mom was mad bc they didnt tell her sooner There was also a few times the lunch lady refused to give me food and I called my mom and told her and the principal called her and said I was lying I also had a drs note to use the bathroom when needed and that was also a problem because they said that I was abusing it They also got mad when I peed myself bc I could hold it any longer and they refused to let me go to the bathroom

GLOW is an excellent small school that focuses on academic rigor and the individual needs of students. The school has created an extremely accepting, inclusive and diverse community for all types of learners, and it is a place where girls can truly feel comfortable and confident while learning and growing. GLOW is also truly invested in seeing its student succeed after high school- I have never seen anything like GLOW's College Access program, and students here are truly lucky to receive such a high level of support as they plan for their future.

My daughters are in the GLOW classes of 2026 and 2028. GLOW has been a gift to us and such a positive place for both of them. Every day isnt perfect for any student or any school but the difference at GLOW is that the teachers and staff SHOW UP! They listen, they care, and they help the girls work through challenges and believe in them.

Having a daughter who graduated in 2025 not from GLOW, but another public school in Wilmington I can really see the difference in the level of support were receiving as we navigate life after high school. Not only does my daughter have a direct line of communication with a dedicated college counselor, but I do as well. Having another person that's not Mom or Day to help her explore her options, think about whats next, make a plan, and stay on track has been a game changer!

Ive watched my daughters go from being unsure of themselves to becoming confident, capable young women who believe in their own potential. Theyve grown so much not just academically, but as leaders and as people. They feel safe, they have lots of opportunities, and they are surrounded by people that truly wants to see them succeed, and as a parent, thats all you can ask for.

I've had an amazing experience here as a high school student. The staff are always so kind, including the new lunch staff. The teachers consistently check in on me, asking how Im doing and offering advice on how I can achieve my goals. Their support has helped me get into many colleges I never thought I would. It truly makes a difference in my journey

Our family has been part of GLOW Academy since the 20202021 school year when our daughter started in 7th grade (she is now in high school).

GLOW has been a supportive and safe environment. Is everyday sunshine and rainbows? Nope. No school is. Having another daughter at a different public school/part of the district, we can see differences and similarities. The level of expectations and accountability at GLOW has increased (for the better) for teachers, students, and families throughout our time at the school.

The level of support and the time the teachers & staff give students academically & mentally health-wise is unlike anywhere else. We really like the smaller class sizes and the fact that they find our girls' strengths and push them when they need it. We like that the students are super diverse - everyone doesn't look like everyone else and isn't from the same area of town.

Middle and high school years are HARD! Being at the school that "fits" can make such a difference. We know there are a lot of preconceived notions about what GLOW is or isn'twhat happens (or doesn't) there, and assumptions about the kind of girls who attend. As a family that's been in it for several years now, seeing it all firsthand, we always encourage people to visit the school. See it for yourself. Talk to the teachers, meet the students, and experience the energy and support that make GLOW, GLOW.

I was in lunch and the lunch lady was standing there and I grabbed my plate and it only had nacho chips on it and she told me since I grabbed I couldnt go back in the line or get another plate so I had to eat plane chips for lunch I do not recommend this scheme at all I want to leave but my mom thinks its a good choice for me and its not .

I am a current student in 7th grade at GLOW. I went for 6th grade, and now 7th grade.
GLOW is a fabulous school, and I adore all of the staff there. They are very nice, and support all of the students.
Last year was a very difficult year since Covid-19 hit really hard then, and when we had all virtual for half the year. I was really stressed out, but the staff helped me so much, and I truely appreciate that.
at GLOW a lot of things are free. Free starter school supplies, free school lunch and breakfast, and a free GLOW shirt and skirt. The only thing you have to pay for are probably more uniform supplies, and the chrome book fine.

The entire staff is engaged and teachers offer one on one instruction Homework is actually only given for tasks not completed in the classroom (at least for 6th - 7th grades)

Having started with 6th grade at GLOW, my daughter is entering her third year there. I am a huge fan! My younger daughter is currently entering 4th grade and is already excited to attend GLOW. We are Blessed to have GLOW as a resource in our lives.
