The school has a potential if a drastic approach is taken to replace the principal and some of the administrative stuff. However as of now, the school is terrible. No communication or misleading communication from the principal about fights as school (as he call them 'altercations') , the only time things are done right is when a parent complains to the district about a gross administrative misconduct and the district investigates. Read the negative reviews, they are true.

This school is a joke. There are pretty shocking things that go on at this school that I have to hear about through my kid and their friends... including a scary incident that involved police. I heard from other parents as well that they dont like to notify families unless they are forced to. I'm actively looking to get my kid transferred out.

great art program and band program as well the other sports
Principal O is definitely engaged principal that brought a lot of experience form his time at Olympic to navigate such diverse scholl.
The only issue is that it is already getting overcrowded.

I started attending Palisades HS as a Senior taking Honor classes less than a month ago. I began my transfer in early December, and didn't hear back from the school until February. It took a school this large, this staffed over 2 months to begin a transfer from another school in the school district.

Moving on. For a school with this many administrators, counselors, and support staff, basic logistical tasks seem to fall through the cracks at an alarming rate. Emails go unanswered. Deadlines aren't communicated. You're often left chasing down information that should have been handed to you on day one, including transport information. I have YET to be assigned a school bus.

Today, I walked in same as any other day. Same backpack. Same contents I've been carrying for months including a portable battery that's been in there since before I even started at this school. I went through the metal detector, it flagged me, and I handed my bag over without hesitation. What was then supposed to be a routine laptop check turned into five staff members huddled around my bag, digging through every compartment. They look up at me holding the portable charger, and I say it's a battery. Didn't matter. They had already marked it as drug-related paraphernalia and sent me to ISS, and I was written up.

I have NEVER in my life touched any kind of smoking-related drug. I don't even know what words to use, or to express this with. This is so beyond unprofessional coming from a school this size, this staffed.

At Palisades, there is zero protocol. The staff do whatever they want to do, and there's zero reach a sports coach should be over here screaming at my parent, when they're being delusional about what they found.

As a current junior at Palisades High School taking AP classes, I am utterly appalled by this schools incompetent, disorderly, and dysfunctional way of being ran. Everyday is something new, another fight, another lockdown, or another new "rule" that is disguised as a way to keep staff and students safe, when its really another superficial way to avoid dealing with the true problem at this school. Palisades was originally meant as a school to relieve another school in Mecklenburg's School district, it was built in August of 2022. But somehow literally everything in this school is either, broken, missing, or they don't know how to use it. They send us the kids they suspend from the school Palisades was meant to relieve, and then have nerve to complain about behavioral issues. And really thats all they do, is complain. They don't DO, and they don't FIX, they complain. Walking the halls at Palisades is like everyone was suddenly born that morning, admin lets students stand around blocking the hall for students who need to get to class in the 7 minute timeframe so they don't get locked out, they allow students to do what they want so they can complain in Parent Square messages at the end of the week. Admin stands around the halls scanning for HEADPHONES when they should be controlling the traffic that constantly gets blocked up because of the schools terrible layout. They change protocol in the middle of the year, and when students have questions on how to work it THEY NEVER KNOW. The teachers are unhelpful, unreliable, and most importantly useless. Not all teachers are like that, some actually enjoy their jobs, and most of the problems do rely on the district which I understand. But, its not all of them, there are teachers who do NOT DO THEIR JOB AT ALL, they sit at their desk, hand you packets with zero instruction, don't tell you the due date, or teach, or answer questions, or just don't show up to school. They'll email parents about missing work but don't do theirs, at the end of the quarter they never turn in grades on time, but are quick to assign another assignment, or another project without a care for their students work load at all. The work assigned in AP and HONORS classes are just busy work to show that they're honors. The work load is unbearable but they refuse to change their policies. If you love your child, you wouldnt send them to this school, but literally anywhere else. Even the Dmv is more efficient then Palisades High School.

This School is terrible. My child came home complaining how his teacher had Covid and still came to school. I feel like if a teacher has Covid or some type of illness, then they should be required to stay home and get a sub for that day or something. Everyday is always something different that my child is telling me, whether its a fight happening or food fights in the cafeteria. Terrible School

The worst school my children have ever attended. The leadership at this school is atrocious, outside of a few teachers and staff. My children were miserable as they constantly complained about fights, favoritism, and a lack of support from the administration are just the issues on the surface; they run so much deeper, and it is masked by the location and name that gives you a false impression of it being a good school.

I do want to share one bright spot as well as my sincere appreciation to one teacher who I heard is no longer there. First Sergeant Smith, who was part of the ROTC program, made a tremendous impact on my kids. It was clear that he cared about them and their future. He taught with a passion that I have never seen from any teacher my kids ever had; they would come home every day telling me about what they learned in his class and how he motivated them to be the best version of themselves. I hear that he is no longer teaching, and that is a shame because I wish there were more teachers like him.

Have to agree with the other posts, all of my interactions with the administration of this school have been negative. It seems small issues that could have been resolved are made worse by this school. I dont understand it. They are not receptive to parents and do not seem to care to change.

This school is a mess. The area this school is zoned for is very nice, but it has been sub par for my child. I guess I expected more from this school. I felt my child was unsupported in their last year and my concerns were ignored. I've found out the accommodations were not met and they had no answers for me. Overall, we regret sending them here because we were new to the area.

Worst school ever they seem to cant identify when a student is being harassed and bullied and instead of trying to help prevent a situation from happening theyd rather try and speak words of encouragement and school rules and hope that handles it

Palisades High School, with its sprawling campus and impressive facilities, stands out as an exciting educational environment. Despite mixed reviews, the school's sheer size and expansive track field offer ample opportunities for physical and academic growth. I had the chance to meet Principal O recently and was genuinely impressed by his engaging and approachable demeanor. His enthusiasm for the school is palpable, and it further fuels my desire to join this vibrant community. The blend of a fun atmosphere and excellent facilities makes Palisades High School a place where I believe I could thrive and make the most of my high school experience.

Don't be fooled by how new the building and landscaping are, the school is a disaster. There are daily fights, unruly students, and low professionalism. The worst is the principal. He is more concerned about looking good on paper than running a functional school. Awful place to be a student or work at.

This school does not care about your kids, including the principle. If you want your kids to be happy, please do not pick this one. When faced with problems and concerns, like bathrooms, phones, and illegal activities, they don't care how they need to solve the problem. The 99% of student are being treated like they did 1% of the students misdeed. The whole school is restricted to 3 bathroom breaks at the mercy of the teacher and unreliable program because the school doesn't want to do their jobs correctly or with decency to give us human right like using the bathroom when we need to. As a student, we just get suspended for our reasonable actions, instead of getting help and reasoning. Ever felt like using the restroom thought the day like a human ? not according to this schools administration, including the principle as he pushed for these restriction. In my experience, when the school or principle is (saying) their trying to hear students out, yes, they hear us out and just shut all of us down. No change happeneds, as the school just doesn't care about how many student bring up problems and concern, only policy takes priority before student needs. Please ask them all the questions you have before thinking this is a happy place for kids. The students (in my experience) are dealing up with school just to pass, no student(or myself) is going to want to learn in a environment like this, just making things harder and harder for student that are struggling already. One of my teachers were getting false information about the school from administration to give to student as well, that's one of the most evil things you can do and they seem to do it often to benefit themselves, please record your conversations with them to have proof of them not helping you or just not caring about your kids health, including mental health as N.C. is a one side statue for recording. For some reason they can't see a humane way of solving a problem, their answer to everything is just to take it away, even if a lot of student disagree with them. I feel from my experience the students have no power and no say in a place they are legally required to be at. Please ask all the questions you have before thinking this is a good place for you kids.

This school has made my son learn so much more. The test scores are also better than most of the other schools out there. Would definitely recommend to take your scholars here!

The school is good overall. The teachers are nice and care about the students best interests. There are a lot of classes they have to offer, which gives a lot of levels to it.
