THIS SCHOOL SUCKS!!! As a student coming from here I have many, many things to talk about.
No.1 Extremely dirty! Rats, roaches, and lizards, doesn’t speak very highly of your school.
No.2 Teachers are sexist. I went to a class, right? The ENTIRETY of the GIRLS were talking a lot. I say ONE! sentence, and get silent lunch. OUTRAGEOUS!
No.3 The food. I don’t know what it is, but it’s radioactive and glows at night.
No.4 Fights happen. They’re entertaining, but get pretty violent. With little prevention and reinforcement.
No.5 Bathrooms. The water in those toilets are something are something out of a horror movie. I thinks it’s alive.
No.6 The water fountains. Oof. This went down, er actually up. It’s so revolting.
No.7 Students are mean. Students are poorly educated and treat others badly.
No.8 The book fair was the size of a bedroom. It was tiny.
No.9 The supplies. This school probably doesn’t get a lot of funding. So the supplies suck.
No.10 The Chromebooks. These weren’t too bad actually. They were touch screen, faster touch sensitivity, and buttons were fun to press. BUT! The Wi-Fi. It was terrible.
The only positive thing about was TSA.
No.11 The funding. The school is poor in every area. The couldn’t afford a small bag a fries from McDonalds if there life depended on it. Generally too poor.
But in conclusion, I’m EXTREMELY glad my sister didn’t need to go through this. Heck, I’m glad no else in my family went through this when we moved away. I can still smell it.

This school has had a great turn around. The teachers here provide a great learning environment and the staff here are welcoming. The community this school has is outstanding and your children would have an amazing three years of middle school!

I went to quail hollow middle all 3 years and can confidently say it's the worst middle school in Charlotte by a long-shot. Fights are nearly every hour, no teacher likes teaching and staff is shifted so much you can't keep a good teacher student relationship. I transferred to a private high school because of how horrible the following was: Teaching, Social engagement, Academic progress, bomb + shooter threats weekly + drug paraphernalia selling. I know multiple people who would dodge school so they don't have a chance of dying on campus. Please don't send your kid here, this will make them depressed and overall a sad person overall.

My honors student has been challenged and supported by attentive teachers who listen and communicate well with parents.

Posted: October 27, 2017

Many teachers do not believe in homework, some classes require the students to keep their notebook/binder at the school, how do students know if they are grasping the concept if there is no hw. How do they study for tests with no hw or notes that have to be left in the classroom.

Posted: October 27, 2017

They do not listen to the concerns of parents. They play favorites and make some students feel as if they are not important

Posted: October 27, 2017

If they developed character there wouldn't be as much bullying as there is in that school.

Posted: October 27, 2017

I can't say good or bad as I am not sure what they do as far as leadership

Posted: October 27, 2017

Posted: October 27, 2017

As a parent my children have been bullied each year they have been here. No one seems to take it seriously at the school. In fact some of the teachers somewhat bully the students or at least make inappropriate or demeaning comments to students

Posted: October 27, 2017

The teachers do not seem to care about educating students. They do not listen to concerned parents, and try to tell them their child will be ok even if the child has a D in the class. Teachers here play favorites, they lose homework, they never return tests, and they do not enter grades in a timely fashion. In fact they wait until the day before progress reports or grades are due to enter. So you may think your child is doing well and they go from an A or B to a C or D because the teacher has not entered grades in for 5 weeks.

Middle school is tough, for parent & student, but we haven't had any real problems in our almost 3 years at QHMS! Our son likes all his teachers, & is challenged by them. The staff & teachers are all very approachable & happy to help with any concerns you may have. We have 2 younger children in elementary & will not hesitate to move them on up to QHMS!

Homework doesn't seem to be assigned for the sake of "doing homework." It's a reasonable amount each night, more often than not, it's simply the work not completed in class.

Posted: March 1, 2017

My 6th grader is having a great year at Quail. She enjoys her teachers (even the "really hard ones"), is being challenged academically, and really enjoys the different clubs and elective options the school offers.

As a parent, I've found the teachers and staff to be responsive to any concerns I've had, and I like that my child is exposed to all the diversity Quail has to offer. I would not hesitate to send my younger child to Quail when the time comes.

QHMS is a fantastic environment to learn and grow in the middle school years. There are so many opportunities to be involved with extra-curricular activities. The teachers and staff really care about student success!

Posted: January 27, 2017

Both my children are honor roll students, but how do children get an A or B in a class where they have 8-10 missing or late homework assignments? I believe they pass the children along not caring if they are actually preparing them for high school or a real college. Teachers do not respond to parent emails, they don't schedule parent teacher conferences, and they don't even enter grades into PowerSchool until weeks or even 2 months later.

It's a shame that I have to go online and prepare lesson plans, download handouts and worksheets and actually teach the lessons as teachers at this school do the very minimum. I use to feel sorry for the low rate of pay but this school makes me reconsider paying people just because they chose to be a teacher,

My child has been bullied and I was told kids will be kids, when I complained about the bus driver smoking and playing inappropriate music I was told they are going to hear it anyways. How can they develop character traits the teachers, staff, and administrators don't possess themselves???

Posted: January 27, 2017

Many teachers do not respond to email in a timely fashion, they don't enter grades into PowerSchool in a timely fashion and can take anywhere between 3-8 weeks to enter grades. They don't do parent teacher conferences unless they like the parent or the parent helps out in the school.

Posted: January 27, 2017

They give homework but the students have no up to date books or handouts. They are suppose to just copy notes from a board and hope they understand it so they can do the homework and do ok on test. There are many times when I as the parent have to go online and get my own materials to help my child with homework.

I’ve been pleased with QHMS and have found the school continues to improve each year. There is a dedicated team of administrators and teachers who strive to provide each-and-every student the best education and experience possible. Whenever I’ve had a question regarding testing, policies/procedures or personal experiences with my kids, I have found the staff responsive, open to my comments/suggestions and willing to provide constructive feedback and recommendations.

Quail Hollow Middle School is a great learning environment for ALL children. There are amazing things happening inside that building that will challenge your child on all social, emotional and educational levels. QH has a dedicated staff doing whatever it takes for our kids. Your child will be challenged on whatever level they are at and will be pushed outside of their educational comfort zone. QH ROCKS!

As an educator that has worked in various places, Quail Hollow has such a hard-working, talented staff dedicated to continually pushing students of all levels to achieve high academic success. Quail Hollow Middle works to prepare students to understand their own learning styles to become increasingly independent learners and citizens.

There were many issues. I thought that enrolling my student into the school would provide her with a diverse, enriched and rigorous academic year. It was instead bullying, unacceptable responsive times after complaining with the staff. I think it was just too much to ask of a school with such a poor performing history. I thought with the neighborhood around it surely it couldn't be that bad of a choice. Clearly I was wrong and my child suffered. I had to do lots of supplemental learning outside of school time. It's very strange. My daughter had some great teachers and some bad ones. I think the school as a whole has to do some re-evaluating of the management. There is no way a school with this many resources should have or tolerate a low level of performance. This will be difficult to recover from.

As I have stated before there were great teachers and there were some poor teachers.

My student would come home to tell me of her situations happening in class. The teachers would tell me they had no knowledge of the situation. I went back and forth the entire year. There was some dishonesty and ignoring of situations. I was tired of the way situations were handled. I felt as if they shrugged things off which in turn made matters worse.

This school has a blatant disregard for the opinions of students. Not only this, but the school will flat-out lie to both parents and students! A main issue is that the administration is apperantly incapable of realizing that the school does, in fact, have enough lockers for every student. If the school would use the thousands of dollars they gain every year, they would have lockers and better test scores. Teachers should be given the materials necessary to teach. I am dissatisfied with the school and administration and their incapabilities.

My school is awesome!!:-D I like that we have PROPS celebrations when we earn our PROPS! I think our school could improve on the way some of the students and teachers behave. We can improve on the quality of food in the cafeteria for breakfast and lunch.

Quail has a great friendship with Forest Hill Church. Together they have great family fun nights that are a great way for families to enjoy a free dinner and group activities for students and adults. The students get to enjoy their school in a different way. We love it

Very good teachers and about the students like any other kids.Sadly i had to move and well my daughter had to attend other school which is the one that belongs to the zone in the zipcode were we live on now. She miss her school so much.

Awesome I guess. I love my friends there, and the teachers are pretty cool, I wish they had more options for foreign languages. At the moment they only have French and Spanish. They're adding German for the 2013-2014 school year though, so I'm looking forward to that. This is my second year at Quail, and I would definitely change some of the stuff on the lunch menue, and some of the rules are kind of unfair. Like I really don't like how we always have to stay to the right side of the hall. It makes stuff so much more crowded. And I think there should be more in the way of the preforming arts. I am in orchestra and Drama/Shakespeare and I really wanted to join Men In Black, but that's only for band students. Either way, at pep rallies, the choir will sing, dance will dance, and men in black will do their thing. Either way, I kind of want to be able to do an orchestra performance or something, because band is like, all high and mighty, and no one cares about orchestra. Oh yeah, and the firewall is definitely annoying. I know that CMS doesn't want us viewing some stuff, but it's really annoying when I'm trying to do a project, and I can't look something up.

New Principle is awesome! My daughter is in 7th grade and enjoys her school, just typical middle school kids there has been a few fights, however with the schools new principle changes have been made.. I do feel however the 7th grade dean needs to toughen up a bit,. I also I have found it takes time to get any sort of responses, on class schedule changes.. I am still currently waiting for a call back.. other then that the school is ok.
