Great teachers. I loved doing cross country here because the coach in 2019 made me feel like she really cared about me. She ran behind with me when I wasn’t able to keep up. I will never forget that she did that for me.

Absolutely repugnant staff that supports racism, and silences the truth. What the principal did to silence the truth is disgusting. Great school for white, Christian nationalists and people who hate. See: social media.

This school is actual garbage. They don’t care of your child is a straight a student . As long as you kiss as* or play a sport they care. The counselor Jennifer mouney shouldn’t be in this line of work. She’s clearly not suited for helping children. She’s the worst counselor my child has ever experienced in all her years of school. If you need proof I have the messages . And even the no respond ones. Or how she can’t even take time to come to an appointment with a parent. I truly truly am saddened that she is in charge of the 100 students she complains about being to busy . Well quit and find something you can handle .

I am a 1977 grad and think back how great the teachers and coaches were....to me...and in the 70's for example the number of football coaches was small at just four-Coach Durham and just three assistants compared to the staffs today whom may have 8-10 asst. Coaches for football...so back then the coaches had it harder....we were the first high school to come from our now rival New Hanover High School when Hoggard was opened in 1968.......then EA Laney was built in 76'. .and they took students from New Hanover...Ashley. High School was then opened nearer Carolina Beach and they took Hoggard students..thankfully Ashley hasn't managed to take our football players as new schools can sometimes do ...cheers to Hoggard and all the great memories there....!..

I graduated from Hoggard several years ago. I had transferred from another school in the district and I couldn't believe the difference. Hoggard had a life changing impact on me and it was a very positive experience for many of us. The teachers really cared and did everything they could to help the students become lifelong learners. I owe most of my work skills and study habits to Hoggard. I went on to college and have several graduate degrees. Hoggard was my greatest education experience.

This school is a fine example of an excellent academic community! Three of my four children have graduated from John T. Hoggard and have experieced a higher level of academic success. All have been accepted to Top Universities coming from Hoggard. The teachers are motivating and deeply care about all of their students; regardless of their level. The sports teams are highly competitive and if you have even the slightest amount of natural talent, you can certainly go on to a D1 level from Hoggard. I can't say enough about this school! Certainly, the most outstanding in SE North Carolina if not in the state of NC!
