I’m starting to hate this school .. why can’t parents visit classrooms or at least walk their child to the class? Why do they do stuff other schools do such a field trips and field day?

We love Meadow Lane, we absolutely love all of the staff and am sad our family is moving on from MLE.
We have been here 3 years and have far to little complaints. Every issue we have had has always been resolved. The teachers in this school truly care for their students. My son is on a 504 and I had tremendous help from his teachers getting his diagnoses and the resources he needed.
My only concerns or big issue with Meadow Lane is them not having a play ground for all students to use. The child desperately need the time outside and with no equipment playing in a large empty field is just not enough, especially durning a Pandemic.

I had to withdraw both my daughters in fall 2018, I have given the school a substantial amount of money for computer science programs. It was not implemented at all and the principal at the time had a problem with my husband their dad walking them to school when we lived around the corner. This school is going down and as a fellow educator it's not a great school!

I wish I could give Meadow Lane 5 stars and then 0 stars to the district! The teachers and principal are amazing and my son loves it there, but there is only so much the school can do when the district ties their hands behind their backs!

We're new to town and my daughter has been attending Meadow Lane for two months. I already regret enrolling her, because of how miserable she is here. Only a few months left in the school year so we're trying to stay positive, but I don't like her teacher's attitude or the atmosphere. Office staff are very rude and don't seem to care about anything. I wasn't even allowed to walk my daughter to class on her first day. Almost every phone call is answered by someone with attitude. Every concern or complaint about staff was brushed off or met with verbal aggression. The bus driver is extremely rude. She's constantly yelling at the students, who have to sit 3 to a seat. The bus driver wouldn't let my daughter switch seats when a boy wouldn't stop touching her thigh(with his hands) . My daughter got off of the bus in tears because her repeated requests to be moved, upset the driver so much that she yelled at my daughter. This is ridiculous and highly inappropriate. Apparently, treating children with respect is not required at Meadow Lane. I heard rumors, but this is horrible. I would NOT recommend this school at all.

This is a great school, it may not look like it, but the teachers I have encountered have been nothing but amazing to my kids.
My kids are thriving.

My daughter has been a student at Meadow Lane since Kindergarten now she is in her last year and i am so very happy.It started out ok but has progressively gotten worse.The people in the office are often rude and seems very uninterested, the teachers are ok but the school is very out dated and whenever i have to pick my child up for an appointment i literally have to walk almost the entire campus to find my child in her elective because they wont go over the intercom! I am not impressed and or satisfied with this school! I have wanted to withdraw my child many times but my child is uncomfortable with change so i am being patient thankfully this is her last year.But i would NOT recommend this school at all

I really wanted to luke this school. I have 2 children that have attended this school for the last 2 years. The school is old and dated looking; however, I chose to not judge the school based off appearances. Until this year I had great things to say. The teachers and assistants all seemed nice enough and my children were happy. All of that changed when my daughter hit third grade. My daughter has had to endure a terrible year and mostly due to the dress code. They send home letters and send my child to the A'S office all the time for wearing jeggings and skinny jeans. Neither of those are against dress code and every time I go to that school I see a million girls dressed like my daughter granted my child is shapely at 8 years old, she should still be treated like every other child. They even sent a copy of the dress code and penciled in skinny jeans and jeggings. On top of that, almost every time my child has pre eog assessments they call me and tell me my child has an emergency and must be picked up. And then when I make arrangements for her they say she is fine because the assessments are over. Emergencies do not change in 15 minutes. This school is a headache.

Meadow Lane Elementary I have many issues with this school. But let me start off by saying the Multi-Age teachers are Great. Aside from that I don't have anything positive to say. Especially about her third grade teacher. The Multi-age program is only available from K-2nd grades. *difficult to get an in person conference with teacher *losing vital information for alerts *Her teacher has snarky comments toward my daughter (enough to make her cry and embarrass) but when I email or call she is all sweet and nice. Two faced. *School is in total disrepair. Available funds are spent on petty things instead of fixing sewage smell, flooding sidewalks, disgusting bathrooms (emphasize disgusting), security... *Poor Poor Security. In five years I have only been asked to show my ID twice. Breaks in the fence. Classroom and hallways located outside of the main. It is a disaster waiting to happen. *as far as I can tell there is no email address to contact the school on its main web page. *instead of a 2 hour dismissal on day, they changed it to 3 hour early release. I was not called and my daughter was left standing in the rain. Thank goodness a friend saw her and called me!!!

Top notch teachers! Very involved PTA! Multiage program a huge plus, but ALL grade levels are outstanding. I personally have had four children attend and could not be happier. The only parents I've heard complain, were not involved.

This school is amazing. I have two children who have attended an d one is still there. I love the teachers and all of the staff. I love their multi age program as well.

So far our 2 daughter's teachers are great! BUT!!! The school is so old, and so underfunded. Not to mention a sandy park that comes home to me everyday. Other than that, we have had a good experience, other than pta ran events.

I have been very impressed with my child's experience here. She is in the multiage program and I could not be happier. If you can get past the exterior of the building, it is filled with wonderful well-qualified teachers. I have had children in the York County, VA system and I would put my child's kindergarten teacher up against any of them. It has been a very pleasant surprise.

This school is absolutely abysmal. From teachers with no self control to administrative staff who have no concept of courtesy, having a child at this school is a parent's nightmare. Bullying is glossed over, there is no follow through with concerns or questions, and I can't overstate the frustration at having EVERY phone call answered by someone rude and completely unhelpful. I pulled my son out at the earliest opportunity. Any good teachers at Meadow Lane need to explore other opportunities.

First, I must start by saying that my two daughters' teachers here were WONDERFUL. Loving, dedicated, and devoted to helping every student succeed, regardless of background, parent involvement, high-achieving or struggling. And I can't say enough great things about this school's multiage program for grades K-2; great program, even greater teachers. BUT: this school is woefully underfunded. The physical facilities are shameful. The principal is the most passive personality of anyone in a leadership position I have ever encountered - completely undynamic. Many of the families at the school are low-income and the parents are uninvolved (whether by choice or necessity). The only active parents appear to be the military families, who by definition are transient. Disgraceful neglect and lack of funding by the state of North Carolina - and a huge kudos to some amazing teachers for overcoming these challenges to teach our kids.

My child came out of third grade on a lower reading and math level than when He entered third grade, The school fails to help children who are needing extra help and does not try to help those who excell in school. The principal tries to hide everything possible from the parents who honestly try to get involved and help, The pricipal does not let any staff voice their own opinions and micro manages everything. The school is falling down and the county does not want to do anything to help the students here even though over half of the population in federally funded through milittary affiliation or low income housing affiliation... Wayne county doesn't seem to want to help the military kids get a fair education.

The teachers are great. They really do take care of the students and it shows in the teaching lessons, classroom.
