I went to ECS for all of elementary and middle school and I cannot recommend it more. The teachers help students to grow in their own way and help them prepare for the next grade. The students and teachers are diverse in all aspects, allowing everyone to see others' perspectives. The 8th grade teachers are really good at preparing you for high school, especially in math and ELA.

Nine years ago, our family won the lottery when our son got into Endeavor Charter School. Since then, not only has he obtained a great education, but he has built lifelong friendships and so have we as a family. Our time at ECS is coming to a close in just a few months, and we can't be more appreciative of our experience. We will cherish the foundation it has laid for our son, and we will be forever grateful.

I truly cannot overstate what an incredible school Endeavor Charter School is. I have three children enrolled, and our experience has been nothing short of exceptional in every way. The staff is completely all-incaring, thoughtful, and deeply engagedand my children genuinely love going to school because they feel valued, supported, and academically challenged. From teachers and counselors to office and lunch staff, all the way up to the directors, Endeavor is a community that truly feels like a family.

Each day, I know that when my children walk through the doors, they are not only safe and cared for, but also receiving a rigorous, high-quality education that pushes them to think critically, work hard, and grow both as scholars and as people. Beyond the excellent academic foundation, Endeavor offers a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including fun, exciting elementary enrichment classes and a strong selection of electives in middle school, as well as athletics, clubs, and competitive teams that allow students to explore their interests and strengths.

Endeavor Charter School is truly a gem. I am incredibly grateful that our family was fortunate enough to earn a spot, and I am confident that my children will leave Endeavor exceptionally well prepared for whatever educational paths and life experiences await them after graduation.

Our family has been a part of Endeavor Charter School for the past 15 years. It has been an incredible experience, and Ive had the privilege of witnessing one of my children graduate from ECS and another one graduating this year. From the very beginning, I felt like we were part of a family. The school has been instrumental in preparing my daughter for high school and ensuring her academic success. ECS has instilled in both of my children leadership, respect, teamwork, public speaking skills, and the importance of learning through experience. I still feel like we struck gold 15 years ago, and that feeling remains strong today.

We have attended ECS for 5 years now. The academics are appropriately rigorous to prepare kids for high school and beyond. The teachers are kind, caring and conscientious and they communicate well with parents. I have always felt welcomed as a parent volunteer and like there was nothing to hide. The school takes child safety very seriously with many security measures in place and an ongoing partnership with WF police. They spend a good bit of time every year educating about bullying and preventing it. The kids are taught to report ANY concerns they have about another child's behavior or well being. The culture is inclusive and diversity is respected here. We feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to grow here.

We have had problem after problem with this school, including sexual harassment of our child, which has led to meeting after meeting, and nothing changes. The Director backs the teachers no matter what, villainizes the parents, and at times is threatening.

Ive been to many different schools within NC and this is literally the worst school I have ever been to. They make your kids watch CNN news which is so unprofessional, some teachers will hate you if you dont agree with some things they teach, for example one of the teachers there said that my classmates and I dumb if we didnt believe that humans came from apes. people of color are constantly being bullied and the teachers dont do anything about it.

having taught at this school I would encourage applicants to seek other options. while the core teaching staff is exceptional and supportive, everything else about the institution is severally wanting. Administrative staff has poor communication and onboarding procedures for new staff, constant mixed messaging on expectations and ultimately will change course abruptly on any academic initiative at the request of a parent. Teachers are expected to enter the classroom and provide their own curriculum, class management plan structure, and all other necessary materials, which even if such meets state standards will be rejected by the school administration often at the request of a parent. communication is also poor as their are several systems used both by parents and administration and this leads to breakdowns in scheduling, abrupt last minute changes and mixed instructions on what is a priority with many requests often buried in emails sent out months prior with no subsequent check ins for understanding. communication with parents and caregivers is often difficult as the culture and community of the school holds new staff accountable for previous staff's performance. compensation and benefits are also below what is paid and offered by the public school system in the county. Additionally there is, for lack of better terms a toxic culture with regard to actual rigor at this school even a simple essay assignment on which students earn mostly A's and B's will be met with requests from some parents and the administration to "fluff" the grades by significant amounts. Parents also frequently object to curriculum materials which would be acceptable in the public school system so far as grade level content according their personal political opinions and are backed by the administration in doing so. bottom line this school seeks the appearance of being rigorous but does not follow through.

This will be our 5th year at Endeavor. We have been very pleased with the communication from the school. While one child has experienced some bullying issues from classmates, teachers and administration were quick to respond and resolve the situations. Our children have been challenged academically and supported when needed.

My grandchildren attended this school, they allow bullying and meanness amongst students. They do not create or foster a positive or emotionally healthy environment for children, which is critical for children of all ages, it hinders their learning and causes them to be less confident. The staff needs to tune into students behavior and how it affects other students.

We are lucky we won the lottery and our family can attend this school. We absolutely love it - the teachers are great, thorough and caring. The work is challenging for the kids, and they participate in homework and projects at a young age which is preparing them for their future curriculums and work-load. The parents are very active in the school, parents volunteering during every lunch, and running some of the events at the school. The facilities are new, clean and well-maintained. They also listen and the board will make decisions based on the best interests of the school/educational needs and desire of the parents. I am always raving to other parents about this school and grateful we are here.

Weve been at Endeavor for 7 years with multiple children and have experienced each grade level and teacher team. Every year has been wonderful. Our children have grown in their depth of knowledge each year. Our oldest was well prepared for the next step in his education. It actually made high school feel easy. Extra support for speech and reading has have been helpful and progressive with children achieving requirements to end extra support. Teachers go above and beyond to welcome parents and correspond. Admin also is great at getting to know families, communicating, and makes decisions for whats best for our school families instead of whats best for an entire school district. We have been very happy with our overall experience at Endeavor.

This school is very clique-y with both administration and parents. As other reviews stated, it's very apparent that financial status matters as well as who you know.

My child was bullied almost the entire school year, nothing was done. As soon as he defended himself after MONTHS of enduring - he was punished as he wasn't the "popular" one.

We missed open house due to their poor communication (they have none and don't care). I was told I could walk my child down to the room since he had no clue what was going on. When I entered the school, the director was rude and dismissive and told me I could not be there and swept him away before I could say bye.

Those are a few happenings but I have tons more. This school has just been going downhill.

Overall, they just do not care. Except for the nurse, she's a sweetheart.

Christi puts on a good show--always smiling, knows each kid by their first name. However, she and the administration consistently do things that are blatantly disrespectful to the parents and families who give so much time and money to support ECS. The administration wants lots of your money, but doesn't value your input/opinions at all.

Overall, we know that getting into ECS was the best thing for our kids' education. The hands-on, "We Learn by Doing" approach is a perfect fit for our kids. That being said, we strongly recommend that you stay away from the school politics (board, committees, PAWS, development, etc). Volunteer for lunch duty and cafe days and directly support your teachers, but steer clear of the snakes in the front office and on the board. The school will completely lose it's luster once you see what goes on behind the scenes.

There are many different learning styles, and students may not always do well in a lecture (auditory) environment. There is of course a lecture portion in class, because students must learn how to take notes to be successful. However, at Endeavor, teachers also incorporate activities that reinforce the curriculum, so students who learn more visually or kinesthetically can learn/grasp the information in a way that plays to their strengths. If a student is really struggling in an area, teachers have the ability to call on the curriculum coordinators, or the exceptional children teachers, to assist that child in the classroom, or even pull the child out for individualized instruction of the concept.

These most recent reviews have been interesting to read, but far from our experience here. This is our 5th year at Endeavor and we thank our lucky stars daily that we got in. I have a child who struggles academically and socially, and although he does not qualify for special services, he thrives here because of the support he receives from his teachers. This has been true for every single grade level. I have been contacted by the teachers when they recognized a problem, and I contact them when we have issues, and in both cases, the teachers and my husband and I collaborate to find a solution. Just as importantly, I have received positive emails from teachers when my son did something well, and on three occasions this year, actually received a call from a teacher to praise something my son did, while he was right there beside her to listen. You cannot put a price on that kind of commitment and caring. This school is special, and the overwhelming majority of people here agree, hence the low turnover. It is a community, and like anything else, you get out of it what you put in.

No, all you do is study. they dont know how to discipline kids. They are kids they go to scholl to be thought too. They are not perfect and so a good school should be a role model to the students. But here they dont accept kids with strong personalities. They will make you feel you are different. Your kid has to be perfect to be here. Other wise you wont get any help from them and the principal is not helpful too.

We felt unwanted in this school. This school cannot be called a partner for molding yourkids character. They are just concerned of their scores. They pushed kids too much especially if they know they have a potential which almost pressures the kids. Test scores are calculated in average and so for them they push those who are advance to get high scores so it adds higher scores. If you are not a social type of family dont go here. The principal is not helpful too. She'll make you feel uncomfortable.

Kids with major learning disabilities such as autism or down syndrome are given special education sessions to ensure their success.
However kids with more minor learning disabilities such as ADHD are completely ignored and neglected in the classroom.

All this school does is force kids into uncomfortable situations to make them "learn" by doing but all it does is make them hate presentations or get anxiety.
If you don't present you get a zero because the work you did is worth nothing to them because they don't want to have to read it. They want it to be read to them.

We have had 2 kids who have attended Endeavor since 2008, and we have had a terrific experience! The school director and the entire administration are amazing leaders! This school has high academic standards, a real sense of community, and a devoted and caring faculty with lots of heart. As a parent, you will have many opportunities to participate and be involved in your child's education. Endeavor treats each child as an individual, and is the best public school experience you can find in Wake County. In addition, its brand new campus in southern Wake Forest is an attractive facility.

We were at Endeavor for a year and then pulled our 2nd grader out. Academically, the school does well in challenging all of the kids. We liked that a lot. What was completely missing was any attention to social and emotional development of the kids and their interaction with each other. Our daughter is smart, but slow to warm, and had a hard time connecting with the other kids. The teacher didn't notice until we brought it up. Also, as other reviewers have mentioned, this is an economically advantaged crowd and while we fit in that profile financially, we choose not to get all of the latest gadgets for our kids and follow all of the latest trends. That again, made it hard to fit it. We're at a different charter school now and our daughter absolutely loves it and is thriving.

I have been an Endeavor parent for 4 years. I have 2 children that attend Endeavor and both started there in Kindergarten. Endeavor is an excellent schools with caring staff and administration. They value instruction and welcome parent volunteers. They have a very rigorous curriculum that challenges each student while meeting their needs simultaneously. Endeavor is continuously listed as one of the top performing schools in the county and Wake County is the largest school district in NC, and falls in the top 20 largest in the nation.

I m a parent of 3 children at Endeavor, grades 2, 3 & 5. I have been associated with schools for over 20 years and can tell you that Endeavor is the best! This is why: 1) Endeavor was founded on a principal that is universal & relates across all children. WE LEARN BY DOING at Endeavor means field trips ranging from the local dentist office to Space Camp in 6th grade. In the classroom it looks like vocabulary words set to motion & on the playground it looks like an athletic director that coordinates games EVERY DAY. 2) Endeavor was founded on the principal that parents & students are the driving force in the success of the school; so they listen. They hold quarterly common grounds meetings in an effort to provide a forum for parents to be heard. At Endeavor, change can happen & does happen. 3) Endeavor was founded on the belief that children of like minds should be taught together resulting in a leveled learning model. The levels can fluctuate throughout the year as they show mastery or need. Endeavor feels like home . A home where the director greets you at the front door, knows you by name & is holding the stop sign for afternoon carpool!

I have just started as a parent at Endeavor, so I cannot speak personally to the older grades. However, I have been very happy so far with our experience in K. The teacher is communicative and my child comes home happy and has already started learning! The school has been very welcoming. A parent volunteer with the PTA contacted all the new families and held special presentations for us. She has made herself available via email. Everyone smiles when you walk in the building and the office staff is always very warm and friendly. We are encouraged to come into the school frequently to volunteer, which is great. I have met a few parents in my child's class and everyone seems really nice. Finally, carpool runs very smoothly - and I have heard nightmares from other schools. Although my child is young, I have met some people with older children, and they have all been happy with their child's teachers and education. I don't feel like I can rate it 5 stars without having been through multiple grades, and since we are just in Kindergarten, we have a few years to go.

We are in our 4th year at Endeavor with our 3 children. We have experienced the younger grades through the middle school curriculum. I really appreciate the small school environment and the fact that I can be so involved in my children's education. I have never previously had such a good line of communication with my children's teachers and know that all of the teachers' goals are for my children's success. All of my children have been pushed academically and I feel my rising 9th grader is very well prepared for the rigors of high school. My children learn things their friends at other schools do not: grammar, public speaking, Spanish, etc. and I strongly feel that children do not slip through the cracks at Endeavor. Endeavor is a great school and we feel fortunate to have our children enrolled there.

Our family has been at Endeavor for over five years. Our children have gone through the K-5th curriculum and we have loved every teacher that our children have had. At ECS, you will find teachers who are devoted to your child's learning and passionate for the pursuit of knowledge. The small class sizes and greater family involvement are a big sell for us as well. We have met many new families that have enrolled at ECS in the past few year that have said that they have found the curriculum at ECS to be above average compared to the surrounding schools in North Raleigh and Wake Forest. We love Endeavor and have felt extremely fortunate to have been given this opportunity to have our children attend this wonderful school!

We have been at Endeavor since the beginning of the school, but will not be going back. In the beginning of the school we were very happy with the education our children received. However, the last couple of years the educational quality has really gone downhill quickly, especially in the Middle School. I agree that the leadership, specifically the Director is very weak. There are a few good teachers left at Endeavor, but most are just average to below average and no better than what you get at a public school, I blame the Director for letting the staff be degraded so severely. I also blame the Director for a weak Middle School curriculum. In short, the positive reviews of Endeavor are really historical and show what the school once was, but it is no longer that school especially with the move to Wake Forest. Our family will not be back.

Our family has been at this school since it started six years ago. I am sad to say that there are many problems that affect this school. The problems stem from lack of leadership from the administration. The job of an administration is to give vision to the school, to set by example, to inspire teachers and students. About 3 years ago you could see and feel the inattention that the administration was giving to the needs of the students and teachers. Teachers who embraced the "We learn by doing" motto were either fired or moved on. The 6th 7th and 8th grade has not had a single year where the teaching models have been used consecutively. It has always been "lets try this and see how that goes." Electives for junior high students have been dismal. For small class sizes we could have had some real electives that would have taught our students something, allowed them to explore new ideas. But alas it was spanish, pick up the recycles from the classrooms, or play games with the little kids on the small playground. Spanish was moved to a semester elective instead of a year long class. Again the changing of teaching models! So I have said goodbye with no regrets.

School has a very weak administrator that basically lets the North Raleigh families and board members run him around. Teacher's definitely play favorites with the kids whose parents are connected. We've have some wonderful teachers here (one that left and one that is retiring soon) which makes us realize how wonderful and rare truly great teachers are. Unfortunately, most of the teachers aren't great and seem highly sensitive to whose child they need to favor and whose child they can safely ignore. No bullying that I am aware of, but some of the kids are brats with an entitlment mentality (thanks to Mom and Dad) and social exclusionary bullying can be just as hurtful (we haven't experienced this but others have). The school is moving out to the hinterland so we may say "au revoir". I think this school will be shaken to it's very core when regular working class folks start attending. So, I would consider all the reviews of Endeavor Charter from an 'historical' perspective. No way this school continues to be the same. Lots of new students, lots of new parents. Hopefully a new administration team will be put in place, but that's doubtful.

We have been at Endeavor for 3 years - 2 children at Endeavor now and our oldest is an alumna who was well prepared for high school. Our teachers have been fantastic! The children were very welcoming to our oldest when she entered in 8th grade. It was a HUGE improvement in learning environment for her - expectations were set high and she rose to meet them. The staff and administration know all of the kids by name and each child is greeted personally when they arrive each morning by admin team members holding the doors open for the kids. Parent involvement is high (I served a term on PAWS - their PTA) and a large percentage of parents help regularly by volunteering for lunch duty, field trip transportation and other things. The board is in process of building a $19MM permanent school facility off of Burlington Mills at Capital Blvd in Wake a Forest - about 13 minutes NW of the current Forum Drive location. The school will move to its new home for the 2014 - 2015 school year.

This school has made a world of difference for my 3 boys. One is gifted and was only taught to his abilities when he got a seat at Endeavor. He is now in high school, and ECS clearly has been an advantage. Another son has learning difficulties, but isn't hyper, so he was also "warehoused" at the public schools he attended. The faculty goes out of their way to help him succeed. My youngest seems to be ahead of the class in some areas and behind in others. The small class sizes allow his teachers to accommodate his needs, as well.

I am a former teacher at Endeavor and as several previous reviewers have noted that if your child is not among the financially privileged and connected families, they just aren't treated the same. I saw this with my own eyes. The administration is very weak and is scared to death of certain parents and board members.

Both of my children attend at ECS. As both an educator and parent I commend the school for its hands-on-learning, public speaking opportunities and social stewardship. However there is bullying taking place and the administration does little to circumvent it. If you have money your "in" and your child's poor behavior is overlooked other students suffer because of it.

This school has a lot of great qualities, BUT if you have a child that is a bit "different" beware! This school is full of economically-privileged, North Raleigh families. Children who are not into sports or the latest cool consumer trend are openly ostracized. The administration does very little to try and deal with these problems. My child developed anxiety problems from the social and academic stress imposed by this school. I know there are others who have endured this as well. Teachers are for the most part very caring but there seems to be some rigidity imposed by administration that has resulted in a high teacher turnover. If your child is well-adjusted and deals with social pressure well, this school is fine. But if not, be ready for many tearful nights-the small class size makes the teasing all the more ruthless and hard to take. My child is attending a regular public school in Raleigh now and is thriving.

Great School. We have been very happy at Endeavor. It feels like a community and my son feels very at home there. They have challenging academics, smaller class sizes, caring and committed teachers, and plenty of parental support and involvment. In addition, they foster a hands-on learning approach and offer a lot of unique curriculum based fields trips which allow the students to learn the curriculum at a deeper level. We feel very blessed to be a part of such an amazing school.
