Even with the change over of a new principal - Twining is still drowning in behaviors, cutting corners, and untrained staff members. The huge focus on stem has caused the children to NOT be excited about it. For all the money that has been granted to the multiple programs - the students are dreading time spent in the stem lab. The teachers are doing their best when it comes to behaviors but they lack the support from the principal. Bullying is out of control and made our children not want to attend school daily. There is no discipline or consequences. The communication is horrible both in elementary and middle school. Awards are given out to the same students year after year and the assemblys drag on leaving the students and parents bored!

It is best to take your kids to an off base school. The teachers are great but their leadership is severely lacking. The principal lets the kids do whatever they want because, "in school suspensions put too many kids in my office", and returns them to their class. This is why I pulled my sons and drive them to Red River. Their leadership is much more involved and they don't mess around. My sons would be better off in a school run by Vladimir Putin. Save yourself the headache, keep you kids safe away from this place.

I only had my kids there for a couple of months before I pulled them.

Honesty, Integrity, and Fairness are not in their vocabulary. Their children are mean and do not receive the appropriate discipline.

Please be advised that 5-6 grade, the teachers have a hard time handling the kids and their behavior changes at this age. They do not get the support they need from leadership for this age group. they have one teacher to 28-32 kids and the principle at the current time thinks that she has the right to diagnose the children with "behavior" issues. It seems that she is encouraging parents to get their children put on medication. This age group is tough at any school. Please, be aware of this if you are thinking of sending your kids here if your kids are in 5-6 grade. you will have kids that are actually violent and the other kids see that they do not get in trouble for their actions and when they are being "disrespectful" then they are sent to the principles office and sent home for the day...no action is being taken for the things that really seem to be taken care of.

For the 14-15 yr, the 2 schools on GFAFB were combined into pre-K-8 w/ 1 principal. K-3 teachers great! The principal is just OK for the lower elem grades; she is not "warm." The K-3 teachers have a good record of communicating with parents. After 2 mos of school, I haven't rec'd a single email from 4th gr teacher. The District is focused on reading and uses the daily five. The other subjects don't stand out, IMO. The transition from 2 schools has not been seamless. Big issue is car line. The base used to provide buses; no buses now. 3 parties involved: school, base (SLO & SFS) and BBC (housing). There has been no leadership to developing a viable car line solution that realistically takes the harsh WX conditions into consideration. The solution offered is marginally sufficient when the WX is good & students walk/bike. Sol'n not viable once temps are 0 or below & snow on ground (NOV-APR). I'm disappointed at the lack of leadership for this process. Teachers are dedicated to providing excellent educations to military dependents. The principal does not stand out. Facility is good; classroom size has mostly been great (<20); tablets given to kids grades 4 and up.
