My student has been experiencing some teenage problems. After having a fight at school he was able to jump out the school bus window and run away. He hasn’t been home in weeks in fear of going to juvenile. After encouragement from peers and family he tried to arrive at school on a Monday in which there was no resource officer. The administrator instead of contacting a first responder dhhs or parent instead intimidated the child by confronting him about running away. He then ran away from her leaving the school without a trace. She admitted that it is not the schools normal protocol but was instead her judgment call because of what she knew about the circumstances. She said normally they would let the child go to class then contact the proper officials. We haven’t seen our son in weeks. He made a mistake but he’s a Child and also walked to come back to school. The process could have been handled better on the adults end which was apologized for by the administrator but now our son still is scared to go to school or home.

Absolute worst school. They don't read or acknowledge IEP's. They have bullies so bad, it effects other students. It is not safe for special needs children.

It is hard to say about homework because my few experiences at this school were quite negative. Students rarely worked on what they were assigned in class, and I was not back the next day to see whether they actually did it at home.

Teachers in this school are not effective because the lack of school-wide discipline. This is not a dig at teachers, but rather indicative of something lacking in motivation for the students to do as they should. It is my experience as a substitute teacher that the students do what they please if they don't feel like doing what they are being told to do.

Students at this school were the most disrespectful and rude of any school I've been to as a substitute teacher.

Someone, somewhere is not leading when it comes to this school. The school consistently ranks at the bottom of the state, or near the bottom. It is a huge middle school, with room for about 650 students, but only about 314 were attending the last time I looked it up. This school's reputation hasn't changed in the 10 years I've lived here. It should be closed down and reopened as a new OPS facility.

I don't really think they do, but I don't have any evidence other that the poor behavior of the students to rely upon. If anything, there is too much tolerance, particularly of disruptive, poor behavior.

Posted: October 14, 2018

Students here bully more than any school I've ever visited. I had better behavior from the level 4 inmates where I taught in prison--no joke.

Posted: October 14, 2018

As one might imagine, quite poor. This school should be shut down, the students sent elsewhere and the building re-purposed. It is a waste of money to throw any more money here without genuine change.

I am a student at the school. I love the staff it brings an honest and good education. The main thing that brings the school down is the reputation although now every single staff member makes safety a goal.

This school is as bad as they say. My daughter attends this school. She comes home in tears everyday. She says she can't handle all the cursing and fighting. She also says they do it in front of the teachers and they nothing about it. My daughter also says the teachers are afraid of the kids and their parents. She is forced to attend this school because we are middle income and she offsets the lunch program. She purchases her lunch while most get it for free. Thank you Omaha for showing your gratitude to the middle class!
