I once had a Spanish/ world language teacher who was pushing kids and not letting them leave (we almost missed our bus, and there were no late buses that day). The reason she didn't want us to leave was that we were standing up when the bell rang, literally out of time to leave and go to our lockers to pack up and get on the bus for the day.

Throughout this school year there has been over 10 fights, breaking property, throwing things, TEACHERS cursing. I really think this school had potential but we cant reach that if all the authority figures do is hand out write ups like its candy. I am a current student of Thomas E. Harrington Middle school and I with others feel unsafe in our classrooms. Things including erasers, pencils, binders, door stoppers, markers, containers and even a glasses case have been thrown at multiple of my peers heads just for a laugh. The teacher did nothing when she clearly saw said students throwing these items. One of my close classmates felt so unsafe that he took matters into his own hands and left the classroom because he couldnt take the fact our own teacher just stood by and watched. This school has some great qualities, but I dont recommend enrolling your child here for their own mental health.

Its been about four weeks and as a parent Im disappointed that there has already been three fights. A student had pieces of hair ripped out. Another student threatened to sexually assault my friends daughter and do you know what they did? They just gave him a lunch detention and thats it. No talk, no further action. Im seriously considering taking my child out of this school and I recommend you dont go here.

Amazing school. I recommend it heavily. I think the only problem is that many students seem unmotivated to learn, and instead treat school as a place to just hang out. Another thing is that students stand still in the middle of hallways as if people aren't trying to get by. Not blaming the teachers though.
Besides those two things, teaching and other sections are great.

My child cannot use the bathroom because other children are in there socializing. It makes for an uncomfortable situation & often cmg home with a belly ache. There has been a lot of fighting this yr. I'm hoping they can get misbehaved students under control & work on more social activities to build school spirit & enthusiasm. Without that it will deteriorate further. It is a clean school, education is good, new Principal seems energetic and socializes with the students.

Its been a while since I was in this school and all I can say is it was the worst two years I ever had, many of the teachers(especially the soccer coach at the time) only cared about a certain group of students.
