School 2 has become very political in my opinion. There does not seem to be a lot of teaching. Southampton School 2 has below standard goals that they fail to achieve. It is all about funding. Case in point all students now are required to go to RTI, even if they do not need it, they all have to do it. The bullying policy is not followed or backed up by teachers or staff, especially when you point out that a teacher is the source of the bullying. I have a child in school 1 and a child in school 2. We looked at our children's work throughout the year and thought the lessons were sub-par so we went and toured 3 other schools in our area this spring. I recommend that more parents should do this and look at where other schools are compared to Southampton. You will see Southampton schools are doing the bare minimum required by the state. Example: By the time a student in another school starts 6th grade they know basic American and world history as well as have firm knowledge and understanding of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. It is June 13 2017 and my 5th grade child knows none of it, never been taught any of it. Fact the 5th grade class is on chapter 4 of their American history book, that is teaching about native Americans. That right, chapter 4, with 7 days of school left for the year. The teachers are more interested in assigning homework and lessons they do not have to actually teach during the day. That is why we are pulling our children out of Southampton and moving them to another school. The issue is they both my children have a lot of work to do this summer to get caught up to where they need to be.

School #2 is OK if you just consider the basic curriculum. Some teachers are very good, others are OK. The kids are taught what the state requires and national and state testing results are average. The school is located in a small, rural town, with a large group of older population, and their funding and budget is small.
The school lacks in extra curriculum activities and their sports programs is deficient. They have a small amount of clubs, and some of the clubs offered are limited to a small amount of children. Their gifted and talented program is also deficient. The activities they offered to gifted and talented children are readily available to all children in many other school districts around the area, not only to gifted and talented.
They do have a nice program for children with disabilities.
Many people in the area, who want a better quality education for their children, send their children to private school. Others, like us, have moved to other towns.
As a whole School #2 is fine, but if you want your children involved in other activities, or your children are advanced you should consider another school.

This is a really great school. The teachers are fantastic and most importantly the kids learn and have fun.
