Newell Elementary School

My son went to Newell and we had a wonderful experience. He was challenged educationally, but also gave him the support he needed if he ever struggled. We lost my husband when my son was 8. The school rallied around us, gave my son the love he needed away from home. The guidance department gave him a safe place to talk and share his emotions. By time he was in 4th grade he wrote a book with the guidance counselor so he can help other kids who lost a parent. He’s now in HS and an honor roll student who is well rounded and a hard working student.

This school doesn't deal with bullies but if there are they make sure it stops!

This school is great, it has amazing teachers, great students, the kids who don't need help and go to a gifted and talented program. Also the ids in lower levels get all the help they could ever want from these kind loving teachers and the students seem to make friends easily!

We couldn't be more pleased! All student levels are supported, from the kids who need extra help to the gifted and talented program. Teachers are amazing, as is the guidance counselor. Many teachers live in the community and have been at the school for years, giving the school a real family feeling.

The elementary teachers and supporting staff have made the struggles of my kids' adjustments into a ne school and neighborhood a walk in the park! Having relocated twice, we know how hard it is on the children and really scrutinized this district, the area and the staff - and all we can say is how happy we were to find this neighborhood! Thank you to Mr. Fitzpatrick for being on top of all there is in school communications!

The school is overcrowded and allows for everyone to get "A" so the scool report card improves and th government $ is collected. There is a need for fresh blood new curriculum and less apathy all around.

I graduated AHS in 1981, and I cherish those memories dearly. Great teachers who really cared, and showed genuine affection for "their" kids. And the admiration was mutual. Those days were truly the best of my life , because I had such caring teachers.

The entire staff from the teacher aides, office staff, teachers all the way up to the superintendent go above and beyond what they are asked to do. The feeling inside the school is very family-like. Everyone working in the building is trule concerned about the childrens total well=being educationally, socially, emotionally. The school deserves a reward for the safe feeling it gives it's students and the peace of mind it gives its parents.

I grew up in the UFRSD school district and it's pretty cool that my children are now part of the same caring school community... Although we are located in the middle of New Jersey, we live in a beautiful rural area. While many things have stayed the same, most changes at the school have been for the better and in the best interest of the children. They have made great strides in the quality of education. I have been VERY happy with each teacher my 2nd grader has had. The amount of stuff he has learned each school year continues to amaze me...

The old saying 'it takes a village to raise a child' is true of Allentown. The community spirit speaks volumns about how much we treasure our schools, teachers, staff and adminstration. We, like other communities face severe cuts, but still remain a community united. It is a privledge to be part of the Upper Freehold Regional School system.

UFRES is like home to my children. Their teachers are amazing and the warm loving environment they create help my children learn to their maximum capacity. Their class sizes are just right for the attention children need. ICS is growing in our district and the Special Ed teachers are an absolute necessity to make this climate work for all children. I would love to see the student teacher ratio remain the same as it is today, that is part of the reason we moved here.

We moved here five years ago so our children could continue their education from elementary, into middle and high school and not have to transfer into a private school. The staff, students and families in the community are very close knit and everyone looks out for the children. My children are in the G&T program and now my oldest is in all Honors classes at the HS. They are also very active in the sports programs offered through the middle & HS and have wonderful coaches who are also a big influence and mentors for our boys. This school has done a great job so far in giving my boys a wonderful education and morals to continue on to college and memories that will last them a lifetime. I love UFREMS.

UFRES has the greatest staff around. From the janitorial staff straight up to the Superintendent. They put 100% to teach our children and care for them as though they were their own. They are top notch.

I went to this school K-12 and my mother worked there for almost 30 yrs. Now my daughters have the opportunity to go. Some of the same teachers are still there. It's like a big family. We love it!

I have loved Upper Freehold Regional Elementary/Middle School ever since 1956 when I attended kindergarten here. And now in 2010 I have been Secretary to the Principal since 1981 right here where I sent to school - we have such dedicated teachers and staff. UFREMS is the best school. The collaboration between parents and staff is incredible. The school is an extension of our family. Our child thrives in the school academically. Socially the school is founded on great values of respect and equality shared by parents and staff alike. The extracurricular activities are great. We moved to Upper Freehold from Hamilton Square 10 years ago- We liked the quaint town of Allentown and their Harvest Festivals etc. We had heard great things about the school and were very impressed with the teachers level of caring. After ten years in this school district, my daughter Sarah graduated as valedictorian of her class and went to Columbia in NYC. She felt especially prepared by the English, Science and History departments. My son, Zak, is a junior at the high school, and appreciates the teachers, counselors, and administration for helping him excel in AP courses and Honors classes. He plans to go to an engineering college in a year. Our family cannot say enough great things about the faculty and administration and their caring involvement in our childrens lives.

With severe budget constraints, our school board, administrators, teachers, bus drivers, etc., refuse to give up on the positive momentum that is preparing our middle schoolers for high school and beyond...with help from anywhere and everywhere, a new middle school will be opening this year...with geothermal heat nonetheless!
