So sorry to hear that this school is being closed; it just demonstrates again that the Diocese rather spend our money(Bishops appeal, parish collections, etc) on ways to close schools instead of supporting them, just like the charade they pulled off in 2005/06. It is really sad for the devoted parents, children and teachers to have to go through this ordeal as it's really traumatizing to the point that counseling should be made available to them. It really shows a lack of leadership and compassion of the Diocese and the lack of support from fellow Catholics which are the root of these closures. (rating is for the Diocese, not the school)

EXCELLENT school. It has a wonderful Principal, caring, loving faculty and staff, and kind, generous students. St. Mary's has old-school charm with 21st century curriculum and technology and exhibits a friendly family atmosphere. Each grade has a small class size so teachers can give more individualized attention to students. Students really excel here which is corroborated by high Terra Nova test scores and alumni who have really made something of themselves. We have loved the school since the day we attended the Open House and highly recommend St Mary School in the safe, quaint city of Bordentown NJ!!

In response to an e-mail post, we have had 3 principals over the past 4 years. The first left due to health issues, the second was not a good match for the school and we now have a wonderful principal who is committed to the catholic values and education and all families are extremely happy. We have 111 families with 150+ children all of whom are extremely cared for and are happy intellectually, socially, emotionally and educationally!!

Was a good school at one time, It has had 3 diffrent principals in the last 4 years. Not all the teachers are even certified !! Has lost about a third of the enrollment in the last year. enrollment is only about 136 not the nearly 200 that they advertise . sad, very sad

St. Mary's School has the values that I want my daughter to have.

The first day we walked our oldest child into the pre-K classroom at St. Mary school we knew we were home. The statue of the Blessed Mother welcomed us with open arms. Throughout the past 5 years we have been blessed with many friends who have loved and supported us through the worst of times. We know when our children walk the halls, they are looked after and cared for as if they are amongst family. It is a school that goes beyond teaching academics. The teachers and faculty teach love for each other, respect for each other and how a belief in God and the Holy Spirit will guide you throughout life. My children feel safe and loved every day. St Mary School has a strong academic focus coupled with a firm spiritual base. It is a school unlike any other. And I am proud to have my children wear its uniform.

Committed Catholic School - Family Environment
Posted: September 28, 2010
Having been part of the St. Mary School family for 16 years, we've seen many changes at the school. But some things never change: the respect and loving concern shown each child by the extraordinary faculty and staff, the goal for each student to reach his/her academic potential, and the lessons on living their faith. The classes are connected to one another as well as the past and future of the school by the continuing of traditions at St. Mary's, such as the hosting of monthly Mass by each grade, Catholic Schools Week activities, 8th grade's Living Stations of the Cross, the May Crowning, and Fly Up Day. The fact that the children are not only allowed, but encouraged to discuss God, their faith, and moral guidelines for making life choices, is one of the main reasons we chose Catholic education for our children. The St. Mary School building may not have all the "bells and whistles" of the public schools, but our children are succeeding admirably in high school and college, and St. Mary's is the foundation of their success.

Children who go to St. Mary School receive an excellent education and the most important thing is that they learn Religion, morals and values! The teachers are so caring, they usually know all the children by first name!

St. Mary's is a great small school where everyone is treated like Family. It constantly strives for the best spiritual and academic education it can bring to each child. It is a school that works like a family to do everything possible to bring extra clubs, dances, class trips, community involvement and sharing skills to make our children well rounded citiczens of their community. Our Teachers and Principal all work for one thing-making YOUR CHILD be the BEST he/she CAN be.

Because St. Mary's offers Pre-K through 8th grade, the teachers, parents and students really get to know each other.

Besides the academic and spiritual growth the children are also involved in many extra curricular activities! St. Marys is a place to learn and feel loved!

This is our first year at St. Mary's and I am impressed on how much the teachers care about the students. They are always watching the kids making sure they are safe. It is really great to see the Principal of the school out there each and every morning greeting the kids as they arrive for school. Miss Vare has made such an impression on my daughter, see looks forward to going to school.

St. Mary's School is a community within the community of which it is located. A faith based community that teaches students to care about others as they would care for themselves. A small private school that allows students of all faiths to gain academic excellence through great teaching with a faith based belief of self and neighborly success. The school promotes academic responsibilty to the students through teaching educational awareness as a student responsibility while taking the efforts of teachers and parents to grow academically. The students at St. Mary's school are given an eviornment that continually evolves with educational stards in a safe a friendly atmoshere which makes learning enjoyable.

I love St. Mary School because I know that when I drop my children off, they are in a nurturing environment. At SMS, my children are nurtured both academically as well as spiritually. They are surrounded by individuals that take an interest in them as much as my husband and I do. St. Mary is an extension of our home!

When my family stepped through the doors of St.Mary School 6 years ago, we found a home. A place where people really care for one another. Not only is it a school where children are academically challenaged and can talk about God throughout the day,it is a home away from home!

When my husband and I entered the doors of St Mary School nine years ago we knew it was a place where our son wound be safe and educated academically and spiritually. We have watched carefully these many years and we have never regretted our decision to stay at this fine school. The halls of St Mary School are graced by our amazing children who are cared for and nurtured by the spiritual guidance of our pastor, the academic wisdom and leadership of our principal, the dedication and commitment of our teachers and the generosity and tireless giving of our parents. Not only are these classrooms filled with challenging academic lessons, these halls are filled with lessons of kindness, caring, and love. The daily practice of our faith and strong moral values are ever present for our children to see. This small little school houses a family with a giant heart! St Mary School may not be perfect, few things are, but it is perfectly suited for us! We are grateful for each and every member of this school family who enhance our son's life.

We have been members of St. Mary's School for 11 years and we love it! St.Mary's provides an education to our children that is academically rigorous, strong in values and very loving. We would never consider sending our children anywhere else!

All 3 of my children attend St. mary's. It is everything I had hoped for in a school. The warm nuturing, enviroment. This is our second family and exactly where my children will continue to prepare for the their future both academically as well as continue to have their religion on a daily basis. The principal, teachers and parents are amazing. This is definitely a family that I am proud to say we belong to.

I taught at St. Mary's up until 2 years ago, I left there to raise a family. The school is by no means in my backyard, yet I go there once or twice a week to help out with some clubs or the PTA...why, you might ask? Because St. Mary's is more than a great learning institution, it is a family. The staff are my friends, and they take seriously the responsibility and the PRIVILEGE to educate a child. Dr. McAneny is a great motivator and has a strong background in the Catholic school tradition. The children of St. Mary's School are not just educated, they are nurtured to be confident, self-directed individuals capable of making reflective choices in a multi-cultural and technological society. They are prepared by the staff to become leaders, rich in the Mercy tradition through a diverse academic and co-curricular progam.

My children attended St Mary School and if I had to do their education all over again, I would send them to St Mary School all over again. What a great atmosphere for the students. Very family oriented!

St. Mary School is the best best to educate your child in. St. Mary provides high quality education, strong faith filled leadership, and sound morals. The environment is one that you will NEVER find elsewhere. Each family knows the next family, and always offers support and friendship, and so it is that unity that makes St. Mary unique and ABSOLUTELY stand above the rest!!

The school instills not just a fine academic foundation but a most important religious foundation. You wouldn't find a more caring, loving, group of people who only want the best for all the children.
