As a substitute teacher, my experience with the current leadership at this school has been deeply disappointing. The administration places excessive pressure on staff, including substitutes, without providing the necessary support or communication. There is a noticeable lack of cohesion and coordination among staff, which contributes to a chaotic and disorganized environment. Even students are aware of the ongoing tensions between staff members.

School safety is a major concern. Exterior doors are often left propped open—frequently by staff—creating serious security vulnerabilities. The security team and some administrators show favoritism toward certain students and staff. For example, during a homeroom I was subbing for, an administrator removed students who were not on my roster but made exceptions for others they personally favored, even though they were also not listed. I found this trend with many administrators in the school.

Many of the rules and expectations imposed by the administration are inconsistently enforced. Staff are often assigned extra responsibilities, such as bathroom duty, without any prior training or clear instructions—sometimes even lacking access to keys or essential resources. Expectations are often unrealistic. For example they wanted me to stop students from leaving the building during field day. That’s something I feel security should do.

This year, there has been a noticeable decline in both staff and student autonomy. Many freedoms that previously supported a healthy and engaging school environment have been taken away, contributing to low morale. Instead of focusing on meaningful improvements, the administration seems more concerned with appearances, control, and damage control, which creates a toxic and stressful atmosphere for everyone.

This school was once one of the best in South Jersey but those days are long gone. The classes and school are overcrowded, the facilities are in significant need of upgrading and the education provided is just slightly better than average. Cherry Hill East is still a somewhat better school overall than Cherry Hill West but both are considerably inferior to the other high school option in Cherry Hill which is Camden Catholic.

The only thing good about this school is the learning aspect. My family moved to cherry hill for a good education and school for me this by far was worse than my other school on every aspect but the learning. At East I will admit that you are given opportunities and that the learning is good. BUT the environment or the school and the students ruin all that I’ve seen countless times of people being disruptive in the classroom and effecting others respect to learn the facility is trash and is falling apart. The school has a big huge drug, vaping and smoking problem. I’ve seen people using steroids, needles , and countless other drugs. The school has a big bullying and fight problem that makes it impossible to ignore the environment you’re around. DO NOT be fooled by the area and the big houses this school is trash.

Huge drug problem and it seems like something is always going on at east too I see all these 5 stars but honestly cherry hill school districts is terrible.

I had a few great teachers in my time and Miss McLeester was one of the best and I am so glad she is still at East for the students of today, I am also so pleased that they have increased the integrity of the school by hiring fantastic, learned teachers as the students are much more into a good school and learning experience rather than competition in all ways that I experienced in the 70's, God bless this school and I know they are helping to teach our great children and future eternal students of the world!

I am a former student and had a great experience at this school. The school has a good academic focus and the school population is diverse. There's also a great sports tradition there.

I am an alumnai from Cherry Hill East. My experience was excellent when attending this high school. The support of teachers and other staff helps all students succeed in school. Teachers are willing to make time for their students in order to ensure they fully understand the materials presented in class. In addition to strong academic programs, students are also exposed to cultural diversity, which will also help the growth of children. The supportive high school community and rigors of the academics will certainly help your child success in the future.

Cherry Hill East is an all around great school that enables students to pursue their careers in the future. I knew I wanted to work on Wall Street by Sophomore year; my guidance counselor at Cherry Hill East gave me the necessary guidance when researching colleges that would accomodate a Finance major. I ended up getting accepepted into Rutgers, which is one of the best schools in New Jersey. This would not have been possible without the education, guidance, and preparation that I received from Cherry Hill East. I am now a manager at Morgan Stanley, one of the most prestigious firms on Wall Street ; I attribute this to the skills that i learned early on at Cherry Hill East.

Having just graduated (Class of 2011) I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this school. I loved every bit of my 4 years at East. For the vast majority, the teachers are great and always make themselves available to help those who need them. Some teachers are known until staying well past the 4:00 late bus time. One in particular who I was lucky enough to have for QPS has been known to stay at school until 11pm tirelessly working for one purpose: his students. Now I'm a plebe (freshman) at one of the United States' 5 federal service academies (the United States Merchant Marine Academy) and the leg up that East has given me academically is unbelievable. My chem and calc courses are all review of what I did in East. East is great. Get involved, challenge yourself. And then you will be able to call East your home instead of just your school. That's how I look back now. East is my home away from home.
