I am unsure as to why this score is so low. This is one of the best schools my children have attended. Weve been to Hamilton, NJ and Burlington Township schools and this throws them out of the water. The teachers are great, the Principal is very involved along with the Superintendent. If there is ever an issue, believe me they will get involved and make a change. Special education is great as well. Ive seen AMAZING improvement. 10/10 for me.

This school used to be so good, but ever since recently, they have been getting rid of my tax money and wasting it on usless things. I do not recommend this school. The only good factor about it is the safe neighborhood it is in. Overall, this school gets 1 star. Would not recommend.

This school has made incredible strides over the last several years. The teachers are great and very responsive to parents. The administration is very prompt in responding to inquiries. The curriculum in all major areas has been completely overhauled over the last few years. Most importantly, the students are well educated and prepared. In terms of numbers and test scores, CES is now one of the highest rated schools in the county.

I think the new curriculum introduce this year is better. Focus on student learning along with behavioral education is definitely improving. Administration should also focus on sports activities which would teach team work. Day tours at historic, museums and zoo is a good gesture towards learning exposure. Lots of improvements but more better can be done.

The teachers are fabulous, however that only goes so far. Their hands are tied which leaves kids lacking. The administration is atrocious. There is no leadership, no fighting for whats best for our students, can barely even respond to calls/emails. The Board of Ed lets it all happen. They should be listing those who dont perform to standards. We used to love this school but it has gone downhill fast! Wish we could afford private school. It is a shame bc we pay insanely high taxes for this school. Just because its a new building in a new development, doesnt mean its a better environment. The other surrounding schools in older buildings have much higher marks than Chesterfield. Dont even get me started on their history of sweeping bullying under the rug.

It is a beautiful building, but a terrible school. Where are all of my tax $ going? I have listened to some of these board meetings and the principal and superintendent do not seem to know what they are doing. Time for a change there. I am considering moving or taking my kids to a private school. It would be horrible to have to pat for that on top of these crazy taxes but my kids would get a better education. Teachers here are okay but the people running this place do not know what they are doing.

This school used to be so great. I miss the way this used to be for our students. The administration is atrocious. They do not support the teachers. We have two coaches, two principals, and two supervisors, but teachers are left on their own to figure everything out. There is lousy PD and everyone is on their own to constantly recreate the curriculum to implement it in our classrooms. I wish my students had the school that we used to have, this has been a decline since there has been a change in administration. The parents are lovely, the kids are wonderful. The teachers are trying, but we are on our own.

Why does a district with one building, 750 students, and around 60 teachers need two principals, a superintendent, and two supervisors. And why do they need two instructional coaches. The new principal is worse than the old one. What is wrong with this place? Where is our tax money going?

There are some great teachers here. My kids had Mrs. Rigalizzo, Miss Boyle, Mrs. Sakimura, and Mr. Forsyth the past few years. They were all great.

Don't get me started. What a joke. Special ed director is the worst. The new principal is not much better. She seemed great in the beginning, but never responds to emails. She doesn't seem like she is around much. She made a few videos during the shut down last spring that were down right weird.

This school has a lot of potential. The teachers are pretty good, the building is really nice and new, and parents are supportive. Administration in this building are terrible. The new principal is totally ineffective and rude.

The new principal is awful. They say how terrible the other one is, but the new one is hardly ever around, doesn't know the name of kids, and really unfriendly. I would say she is downright rude.

Don't be fooled by the beautiful school facility. Chesterfield is the lowest funded district in the state and the residents are taxed at more than their "local fair share" and the curriculum is subpar. The administration (with the support of the dysfunctional board of education) keeps giving themselves raises. They are great at lip-service yet ineffective at leadership. There were incidents of vulgar explicit images on school computers in both 1st and 2nd grade with no determination of the cause. Their curriculum and teaching practices are light-years behind other comparable districts. The only great aspect about this school is the teaching staff. Every single teacher my children have had work their hardest with the limited resources and lack of current professional development. Because of this, the turn-over rate is high with teachers. Now we have a giant natural gas pipeline and compressor station being built in our town and we will probably never be able to sell our property.

I feel my children have learned so much at CES. However, they are young and cannot see the administration and parent organizations childish behavior. If it were a few years down the road I think they would see the examples they are being given and may decide, "who cares about honestly and fairness, clearly administration and the BOE doesn't".

For a brand new "state of the art" elementary school I expected much more from CES. While I know we do not receive "our fair share" of state aid (which is why taxes are extremely high), there is still much to be desired.

We have a BOE with members who push their own agenda and bully parents who speak or question decisions made. We have a Superintendent who shows little control or leadership, other than to push other administrators promotions through under the radar, and a new Principal who many parents voiced they don't even feel was deserving of the Vice Principal position.

Add in teachers being bounced to different grades yearly, good teachers leaving mid year for neighboring (lower rated) schools, less than desirable teachers flying under the radar and continuing each year to parents dismay. There are parent organizations bickering, both claiming they are doing "what's best for the kids", and a student population of 700+ but at ANY given meeting, event, volunteer opportunity you see the same 20 parents, while the rest complain.

That about sums up our experience at CES. It takes more then a handful of parents to make a school great. It takes unbiased leadership (which we clearly don't have in the BOE), strong administration (who makes decisions to uplift the entire student body), and parent involvement (who cares if you win today's battle, continue to fight and you will lose the war).

One of the best elementary school in northern Burlington county.A lot of parents and teachers involvement in every academic and cultural activity. It's been a smooth transition for my son from this school to middle school. My son is doing great in middle school, he's been in the high honor roll list, officer in school student Congress and has a major part in school's musical. Thanks to the teachers and administrators of Chesterfield Elementary School!!

Don't be fooled by the nice new building because the quality of education, in my opinion, is sub-standard. The handful of teachers I have come in contact with are very quick to tell you about how great the school is, their advanced degrees, and training but fail to answer basic questions about the curriculum and how familiar they were with the material and programs used. I get the impression that some teacher's have been "bounced around" through grades which doesn't give me a good feeling either. Any questions I had were never completely answered to my satisfaction and only after a follow up question was I told it was discussed at the open house and the policy they follow is not written. On a positive note, the parents appear to be involved which is nice to see for a change. Needless to say I am not impressed. Chesterfield Elementary is NOT the educational frontrunners they would like everyone to think they are.

Glad my daughter is going to Chesterfield Elementary school. It's one of the best school in north Burlington county. Teachers pay attention to each kid and glad to see how quickly she's learning new thing every day.

We moved to the school district a few years ago. We heard great things, but have been so disappointed. The teachers/staff that we have encountered are there to collect a check and do nothing more. They do not care about going above and beyond or even meeting the children's basic academic needs. We moved from a different district and we feel that they are about 2 years behind educationally. If we had the ability to get up and move, we would. It is a sorry excuse for a school. In addition, there are very few extra-curricular activities. It doesn't feel like a close-knit school. While there are a few gems within the staff, overall, I would rate this as a very poor academic setting. In addition, I recently learned that they have a horrible special education program. If you have a child with special needs, avoid this school!

If you trust the bell curve and assume your kid is closer to the average than not (i.e. strong in some areas, weak in others) then its and excellent school that cannot be beat in a similar property price range in NJ. The teachers are young, enthusiastic and bring a fresh perspective using the latest materials and curriculum (e.g. Everyday Math). They're using methods that, while being controversial, are proven to maximize overall benefit to the largest number of kids - these are NOT jaded/older teachers approaching retirement counting down the days- Chesterfield teachers are earnestly trying to make a deep positive impact in kids lives daily (of course their perspective may change 20 years from now!) The facilities are brand new and the atmosphere disciplined. Now, on the other hand, if you think that your kid is likely some sort of genius child prodigy with 150 IQ (odds greatly against), then probably you need to look a little further North to the "little Ivy's". Something that makes this school unique is that its right in the middle of the new and growing housing subdivision that provides approximately 90% of the kids.

Wonderful and caring environment for kids and their education. My two kids are doing quite well and are lucky to have had three wonderful teachers at Chesterfield Elementary. The school combines the best of an old time country type schooling atmosphere (not an overly academic mindset and very interested in connecting students to their environment and to their community) with the developing challenges of a 21st century education. The teachers do most of their professional development on their own and are using cutting edge technology effectively and also new strategies to engage students in traditional and emerging habits and skills. The school itself is beautiful and sits in the middle of the communities of crosswicks and chesterfield.
