Springville School

Springville Elementary School has unfortunately been a very disappointing experience. While it’s meant to be a safe and supportive place for young children (grades K–4), the overall environment feels overly harsh and not child-centered. Many of the teachers lack patience and compassion, often yelling at students instead of guiding them. These are very young kids, and the way they’re treated sometimes feels more like punishment than education. There seems to be little effort to understand kids’ needs or meet them where they are developmentally.

The principal sets a poor example for the staff. One situation that really stood out was when a student accidentally fell in the hallway, and instead of helping, the principal tripped over the child’s head and then yelled at the student to “watch where they were going” — despite the fact that the child was already hurt and clearly not at fault. Moments like this show a real lack of care and professionalism. Constant yelling, public scolding, and a lack of empathy are far too common at this school. Young children should feel safe, respected, and supported — not afraid to make simple mistakes. Sadly, students in special education programs also do not seem to receive the care, patience, or attention they deserve either.

They provide many extra free homework websites. I feel that the homework has been adequate for their lesson plans.

In kindergarten my child's teacher was pregnant and this disrupted his learning. Half way through the year a permanent substitute was assigned. The turnover wasn't as smooth as it could have been. It seemed as though the substitute wasn't given any information about the students.

I feel that the school district as a whole is missing something. It feels like they fail to re-evalute themselves and look for opportunities to improve. Such as making a connection with the parents and students. All around the country leadership is giving more opportunities for face to face daily interactions with its students. It feels as though each school takes on the responsibility of the whole district and misses what is in front of them in their own schools.

The resources for learning differences are great. However, when leadership, approaches the parents with the students deficiencies there is a lack of empathy and compassion. It's as if they are judging the parent.

I feel they put a great effort in this area but it does feel as though there is some aspect of classism at work in the school.

It's ok. The community as a whole is what makes the school and it shows, in both positive and negative ways. When meeting the community as individuals everyone appears to be positive and kind. Outside of that it's everyone for themselves.

This was our first year in the district. The transition was great and I was impressed with the differentiated learning and diversity in the classroom.

This is our very first year in the school district. The expierience has been nothing less than phenomenal. The teachers and staff have been so helpful with the transition. I've been to a few events and it was great to meet other parents and faculty. The bar has been set very high which helps with th eexpectation at home from a learning standpoint. I expect nothing but great things moving forward.

We are new to this school and are so so impressed. We have a high achieving third grader and a kindergarten student. The school is well organized and the teachers and staff are wonderful - I've volunteered in the school and been able to witness their response to all types of students, and in each instance the staff have been professional, kind and engaged with the kids. Even though it is a 400+ child school, the school feels like a close-knit community. Our 3rd grader is challenged at an appropriate level - her AR level actually went down coming to this school, because they demand mastery, not just recitation. This is true across all her subjects - standards are very high, and differentiated for each student. Our K student is in the most warm and vibrant classroom and is learning so much - we're thrilled with this school and can't say enough great things about it. It's proof that a bunch of regular kids can learn amazing things when placed in the right environment. We're so proud to be a Springville family!

I feel I have made a mistake moving my children to this district that is so large. They may have high test scores, but feel they care more about the ratings than caring about the children and the parents. I do commend the PTO, they do a great job. Since coming to this district I feel that no one has time to talk about your child. I feel communication is lacking between staff and parents. In my last district the principal was out everday to meet the parents and students, all year I have never seen the principal at Springville. I would love to see my child embrace this school as he has done others, but unfortunately he hates school for the first time because he feels he doesn't matter.

This is one of the best school in Mount Laurel district. They have music arts, Drama beside study. There Arts teacher is nice. They have also day care after school. they have more asian student who works very hard. Teachers are passionate about student, they gave summer assignment in the school

What makes Springville standout from being just another excellent Mount Laurel school - is that it's not excellent just for typical students, and high achieving students.Springville is excellent with students with special needs. My child has special needs and they were sensitive to her issues. All the staff members I've encountered were understanding, and appeared to really care. I wasn't impressed with the districts child study team but once you get past their BS; the people who work directly with our kids are mostly dedicated, caring, helpful people. I never met the principal so I can't comment on that. My child has attended other ML schools but I'm please that we are returning to Springville next year.

Great Schools should get that 5 star rating posted up there. This school should be rated an 11 in my opinion. When we moved here I was very reluctant about the school since our son had previously attended a school with a rating of 9 (Springville's was 8 when we moved here last summer). But, now I see how completely amazing this school really is. And, apparently, since the rating has gone up to a 9 now, so does Great Schools. The staff is highly trained and very caring. Springville, truly is a Great School!.
