The students transferring into EB schools after leaving 8th grade at this school are grossly under prepared and are academically behind their peers. A large majority of these students are used to excelling academically and then struggle with the transition back into the public schools. Additionally this school does not provide anywhere near the level of special education supports that the public schools do. Many students with IEPs end up being asked to leave or struggle so much they must leave. This skews the academic performance data. Also the board has no accountability to the public like public BOEs. Finally, the building admin are very unorganized. I will say that if your child does not have learning disabilities that the experience is positive, but they will struggle transitioning back into public schools in a large majority of the cases.

Excellent. My daughter's experience in this school has been quite positive with everyone across the board. I love that the teacher's here love their jobs, it's so obvious in everything they do.

School gives homework weekly (at least in younger grades) to reinforce the lessons in school. Weekly schedule gives flexibility to parents to sit with their children when best for everyone and not rush through it on busy days.

The school's principal is talented, approachable, and a great spot of teacher talent! She also engages with the students regularly and knows all of them despite the school's growing enrollment.

My son is going for a third year now and so far he is having a great experience at this school. The culture is very diverse and learning opportunities are great. This school is strongest in languages, reading and writing skills (probably one of the strongest in the state in fact) and about an average in math. Not many children miss their school during the summer break, but he did, which tells me they are doing a great job. I am very impressed by his skills in reading, writing and foreign language. He is doing well for his age in math, but I would suggest school put slightly more emphasis on mathematics and logic to stand out in that area as well.

Despite lot of pressure from several sources this school has been growing well due to the standard of the education at this school. Now they are extending into Middle school.
Teachers and Principal are amazing and they communicate all information and they plan everything in advance and my son likes a lot. We are not Jewish but we still like this school as teachers work really hard and our son is growing very well. My son is learning an additional language: Hebrew and I do agree that they teach about Israel and I never felt anything wrong in that. I am confident that they also teach about other countries as well.
Our son is now in 1st grade and we no need to worry about the school for 7 more years.

Students in this school are selected from several school districts and we find all kinds races in the school.

The Board of this school is not elected like a public school district. Therefore, the teachers and director are at the mercy of this political Board and their children who attend the school. This does not make for a positive nor equitable experience for all children at the school. I had high hopes for the school, but as the State Performance Reports show, this charter school just isn't keeping up with the local public schools.

This school exceed our expectations by far. It teaches an inquiry-based International Baccalaureate curriculum and the teachers are amazing. It it no wonder that it is ranked so high (92nd) percentile in the entire state. I strongly believe that those few people who wrote a negative comment and described themselves as "parents" are actually not parents but actually a part of the concerted effort by the local school board to spread more lies and misinformation about the school. They hate the competition and the fact that they have to share a very tiny portion of their budget with the charter school.

This school is amazing! The DOE just approved the expansion of the school due to academic performance. The school ranks 96th percentile in language arts literacy and 87th percentile in math compared to schools across the state. On an average this ranks the school at about 92nd percentile in the entire state. Classes are small and there is a minimum of 2 teachers per class which makes an excellent teacher student ratio.

Love Hatikvah! My daughter is at 96% and second grade level in reading in just 6 months of Kindergarten. Teachers are amazing. She is learning Hebrew and loves it. I drive a total of 3 hours everyday and that's not a problem knowing that my daughter is getting a better education and i have the peace of mind that she is safe in a peaceful environment. Thank you Gov. Christie for the approval of the extension. We need to raise kids with values and moral and that's what they are learning at Hatikvah Charter School.

This school is amazing! I can't say enough great things about Hatikvah. With 2-3 teachers in the classroom at all times, my daughter gets individualized attention in every subject. The teachers and staff always go above and beyond in all that they do. I am thrilled to be starting my son here for kindergarten next year.

It's a joy and comfort to send our son to Hatikvah. The teachers go above and beyond and are very attentive and helpful. This is a well-run school and the building is spacious, clean and organized well. Truly A+ from us and tremendous peace of mind as we start another school year. Now back to my empty house :)

Are those bad reviews posted by someone from board of education fighting to close this school? Because they sounds awfully similar and written in the same style. Besides, doesn't sound like real experience I've heard about from people whose kids attending this school. My son is going next year and I am excited for him. Don't post if you don't have children there, it is easy to uncover trolls these days.

I feel even one star is too much for this school. Teacher seems to have a lack of experience most of them recently graduate with really terrible attitude , they expect that kids most know everything from home . I feel even they have preference , they not treat kids equally . Principal too has the concept of my way or high way which is really un professional at all. No encourage for kids what so ever . I feel that this school is open for certain people that is why they make us suffer to take our kids from this school and save a spot for them. I wish that the board of education did not approve that wasting of our tax on that school .

Exceptionally run, clean, well-designed school. Extremely close attention is give to each student by all faculty and staff. Kids do not feel lost in the shuffle or on their own at Hatikvah. Very happy parent here!

Experience at this school is not pleasant. The parents have to correct the homework that is supposedly being corrected by teachers. They just check I guess if the homework is submitted but nothing to do with if the work is correct or giving any notes for the improvements to the children. No encouragement is given to the children or encouraging the motivated children. Resolving issues is terrible. I am not sure how this school is being ranked for 10/10. No structure is established in guiding or teaching children. Adminitration/ informing parents about who is working at the front desk is kept anonymous. Everyday someone new works at the front desk. Most of the school year they do not take children out side or play out side. parents are uninformed what children are learning. No proper measurements are taking in improving the children's ability/skills. So much of a gossip. There is only one way, high way or no way kind of attitude. Disrespect to the parents with the internal politics by the teachers and administrative/ supervisors. constantly finding strategies blaming parents to solve an issue or guilt trip them to hide their wrong doings.

Hatikvah International Academy Charter School is amazing. The staff is very caring and goes above a beyond what we have seen in other schools. This multi cultural school is the real world today. My son is already asking to learn a 3rd language. My child is challenged daily by the teachers. We could not be more happy that New Jersey allows this choice for my child.

I choose to send my two children to Hatikvah and they both love going to school each day. They are academically challenged and the teachers seem to always know what they need. The only turnover in this school comes from teachers who prefer not to go the extra ten miles for kids or who don't know how. It's better than a private school and we're lucky to have it as an option.

My child used to attend this school. The current administrator has a high staff turnover rate. She does not under the developmental level of the students. I did not feel comfortable my child attending a school with majority of teachers having experience with less than three years. Once I found out my child's Hebrew teachers were UNCERTIFIED teachers, I had to take my child out of this school. I do want my child to be educated by uncertified teachers especially since it against the law!

Hatikvah International Academy Charter School is a wonderful school with the most caring teachers and staff. My children are able to work at their own level and have learned so much. The ratio of teacher to student is 1:11 which enables the teachers to push the students where their strengths are. The children are learning another language and the school is multi cultural which mimics the real world. They learn about all different cultlures and I couldn't be happier.
