Honestly, as a student here, the lunches are not very good. They have to cook the pizza. Some of the teachers have cursed me out just for asking a question not to mention this isn’t the first time that they have shouted out a student’s grade in the middle of class as a joke and humiliation in front of all of their classmates this has happened to me multiple times with specifically one teacher

I always saw this school had poor ratings, and I can now understand why. The teachers are absolutely terrible in this school. They are destroying the confidence and morale of my child who was very advanced in elementary school, always excelling. Now at Carl Goetz these teachers do the absolute
bare minimum, never any homework because that would mean extra work for the teachers to grade. Not sure what the hiring process is for these teachers but it is a shame because these students are the future of this country, and these teachers are not stimulating these kids just there to collect their paycheck... Absolutely shameful.

This school is terrible. Most of the teachers don’t know how to teach. But, there are some pretty cool and chill ones, but some of my teachers don’t even do lessons. They just expect you to know everything. The students here are even worse. Some of them are loud, annoying, or just don’t care. I’ve heard about a thousand slurs. The students are openly racist and homophobic. The school also has a bus problem. Each and every day I have to struggle to find a seat. And I’m lucky if I even get to sit with my friend. Some students have to squeeze their way into the back of the bus and sit on the floor. The hallways are crowded and I’m getting pushed and shoved everyday. Some people just stand in the hallways. The bathrooms are barely lit and dirty. The girls bathroom by the lunchroom has this loud and annoying heater. This school sucks and I would do anything not to be going here but I have no choice. It’s gonna be three years of hell.

This school is just bad. The amount of racial slurs I've heard is concerning and people throw around the n-word so easily and nonchalantly. No one seems to care about each other. Also, the mess is terrible. The buses are trashed and full of food. The bathrooms don't look clean at all. The floors are covered in dirt and obviously, it's a school but the janitors barely do anything. A lot of students are so aggressive and careless. Once the bell rings everyone is rushing to the door without even caring who they're running into or knocking over. Back to the buses, there are so many kids on a single bus and it's so full that most people have to sit with their legs entirely in the aisle. They are also so old and rusty so it would be normal if your bus just broke down one day. The teachers are so disrespectful to students and don't consider their personal struggles. For the bathrooms, the sinks are outside of the bathroom and the faucet is so broken that you'd get sprayed with water. You also have to step on broken pedal things which are so inconvenient. The floors around the sinks are wet and the soap dispensers are broken. Recently the loudspeakers for school announcements are incredibly loud and a high-pitched sound starts to play like that sound that plays when you call someone when they're in the same room as you. The cliques are so judgy and the students don't show one bit of respect for each other. Just don't go to this school if you had a choice.

I'm not going to beat around the bush. This school is terrible. The homophobia/transphobia, the cliques (probably the worst), the bullying in general, these among many other things make this school unenjoyable. The place is FILTHY. There is dirt everywhere, the only place the janitors clean is the cafeteria. Occasionally, you'll find dead crickets (one time I found a live one crawling around) in the hallways. The bathrooms haven't been renovated since the 1980s and they always smell like something died in the vents. Some teachers are over do it with the reprimands, and some don't give out punishment at all, and that makes me mad. The kids at this school casually use homophobic and racist slurs and when they get called out by a student who was offended by what they said, they use the old "it was just a joke!" and nothing is usually done about it. Nepotism 100% exists here and the power the kids with relatives that work there hold is abused. The teachers pay more attention to students who do better on tests rather than kids who don't do so great on tests and genuinely need extra help. In fact, this school cares less about you and more about who does better on the state tests. If you do good on tests then you're automatically favored. If you want a positive environment don't send your child here.

The bullying at this school is terrible. Most kids are nice, but some are racist and rude. One time I was walking and heard an eighth-grader call an african-american boy the n-word. It was reported, and nothing was done. Obviously telling them that race doesn't matter isn't working. Plus, the place is filthy with a capital "F". The gym floor is so dirty and disgusting, and, I get it, people are running on it all the time so it naturally gets dirty. But my friend gets dropped off everyday and told me that even at 8:00 am, the floor is disgusting. The bathrooms are hardly ever cleaned, you can clearly tell. My friends grandma-who was a cleaning lady in a local hotel-would cry if she saw them. Also the sinks are outside of the bathroom, and they don't have handles, and there's one mirror, and the hand dryer makes SO MUCH NOISE! Imagine trying to take a test and just hear this loud whirring. It's ridiculous. The teachers don't understand exactly how stressful all that work could be, and they don't know what might be going on at home, and they don't try to understand. In addition to all of that, the wifi is terrible!! Why do they have a student wifi connection if they don't give us the password?! We are forced to use the extremely spotty guest wifi. Teachers get perfect wifi for their phones, why can't we? I mean, what is their provider? Not like we can use our phones during class, but during lunch and after school, it's tiring. I'm tired of the prejudicism. I'm tired of the mess. I'm tired of the teachers being favored over the students. I'm tired of the teachers not putting themselves in our shoes. I'm tired of this school. I'd honestly rather wear some stupid, smelly private school uniform every single day than spend another second at this place.

I only went to 7th grade in this school but out of all 6 schools ive been to this school is the worst ever. Theres only 3 types of kids in this school
1-suburban country boys, 2-wannabe gangbangers and pick me girls. I got made fun of the first day i went to this school even tho nobody even knew me and got rumors spread around about me when i dont talk to anyone at school. There was only 2 teachers who made me feel welcome. Also the bathrooms stink like dead bodys and the sinks are from like 1910, you have to step on a pedal for them to work and they are outside the bathrooms which is so dumb and unnecasary. Most of the time there is no soap or hand sanitizer in the dispensers.

This school cares about the whole child and provides a variety of clubs, activities, and sports. Classroom learning is progressive and backed by state standards.

As a student of Goetz myself, I honestly believe that the social and educational atmosphere of Goetz is not great. Firstly, teachers and guidance counselors are deliberately oblivious to the discrimination and bullying that takes place among the student body. When a student needs help as a victim of bullying, there is usually little or no positive result in the situation. Some adult figures do not treat the students with the respect they deserve to make their schooling experience one they want to remember. Many students are discriminated by their peers, just because of their race, religion, sex, and sexual orientation. It is wrong that this happens, and nothing is done.

Where do I even begin with this school. Considering I know a lot about this school as I went through all 3 painful, bitter, unpleasant and distressing years here. Let me just throw it out there that this school ruined my life. Absolutely ruined it. I was bullied the second I walked into the school back in 2011 until I walked out in 2014. But that's not all folks, the teachers... just as bad. They practically laugh and cackle at their students with their other teacher friends.. I call an unprofessional on that one. This school made me have problems with myself that will last for the rest of my life. DO NOT SEND ANYBODY TO THIS SCHOOL, unless all you want for them is pain and suffering just like I did. All my sufferings were never handled properly and just got worse as each year went on. I reported the problems and nothing was done except a warning to the bully, and me feeling the backlash of him/her telling their friends which made everything worse, because they began to bully me for writing up their "friend". Worst 3 years of my life and I will never be able to get them back. Thank You Very Much Goetz Middle School, for the worst experience that I've gone through in my life!!

Do NOT allow your child attend this school. This school does not have a handle on bullying. Nepotism is alive and well here with preferential treatment towards the kids who have parents working at the school. Wish I could go back and have my child attend a different school. If I could rate 0 stars, I would. Principal is MIA.

My youngest son is starting 7th grade this year at Goetz. He has broken his leg and is in a wheelchair. Self operated wheelchairs are not allowed in school so Goetz guidance department is arranging for a teacher free of charge for home schooling until he is able to return to regular school. Everyone's attention to my son's predicament is very much appreciated! Thank you!

I attended Goetz for my 3 years of middle school and I am going to JMHS in the fall, the teachers are AMAZING but I think the school could use some updating. and at the end of my eighth grade year I figure out that there is honors classes and I was a little disappointed:( but I am taking 3 honors classes in the fall at JMHS, this is a great school and it really cares about its students.

Upon moving into the district, I had a very bad experience with my first daughter. That ALL changed with my second daughter, however! She received constant support from her teachers who have always gone an extra mile for her. She had an exquisite support system, academic experience and blossomed beautifully at this school. Without an engaged staff this would not have happened. I would name teachers but honestly, there were so many good teachers that I am certain I would miss someone. Even though I was the first class to ever attend this school when it was "open" and the walls have been added since and make it "dungeon like" in my opinion, what happens in many of these classrooms more than makes up for the environment. My daughter just graduated 8th grade and I cannot thank the staff enough for taking care of my "DD" for the last 3 years!~
