This school lacks standard teaching practices and professionalism. While they hire people with higher degrees, most have no teaching experience and it shows. They often teach through embarrassment, shaming, & intimidation tactics. Staff also imposes their views on students, many inappropriate such as bashing politicians, using outdated terms to describe learning disabilities, & using negative reinforcement on the kids. Don't expect to have any respect or influence unless you donate heavily on top of the hefty tuition rate. Not a good experience and would not recommend for any families that value respecting others and being welcomed by your child's school.

pros: your child will thrive in academics. If they find that this is the place they feel valued and respected, it would be the perfect environment.

cons: Our main concern is the unfair treatment of students by the director and some teachers. There is frequent yelling from adults, embarrassment is used as a form of punishment, and students have limited freedom. If a child does something the director deems unacceptable, she will approach them, give an intimidating look, and say not to do this or that. She dislikes many things children do. Unfortunately, our child no longer enjoys this school because of this negative environment, and we as parents realize that it is not a good place for growth. Additionally, there was a student who joined the school and seemed to be dishonorable, stealing other students' belongings. The school took no action in response to this behavior. One time, our kid reported that one teacher was yelling loudly at a particular student and calling them stupid. This is not acceptable. A lot of families who left this school had a less positive experience. We highly recommend asking the community and hearing from them. We moved out of state and are happy with the new school.

Again, it would be the best place for some children, but it was not for some families. Good luck with finding a better school for your child in Las Cruces

My grandson has been going there since kindergarten and he loves it. The classes are smaller than at a public school, the curriculum is challenging, and the staff are great.

My son has been going to LCA since kindergarten and he absolutely loves it. It is a great learning environment where each teacher is hands on with each individual student. He also loves the academic challenges he receives at LCA because they push the boundaries of what many kids deem possible.

I attended LCA for six years. During my time here I cultivated close relationships with fellow students, their families, teachers, and volunteer/guest teachers. At LCA, families are a big part of the culture. They volunteer to help run after school clubs, teach classes, chaperone field trips, and sometimes even clean the school. Families are invited to performances, showcases and events at the school frequently. This makes LCA feel like a family itself. It is an amazing environment.
The academics are also amazing. Students learn to speak both Chinese and Spanish, and learning new languages is a great experience. They also learn about science, english, math, engineering, history and much more. As a former student, if it wasn't for my time at LCA, I wouldn't have done as well as I have in my other schooling. Throughout middle and high school I preformed above my grade level. I am now a college student who likes to come volunteer at LCA multiple times a week. Being here is not only nostalgic, but educational. I am always learning from the students and teachers. The teachers here are amazing and have so much to give to their students.
Everything about LCA is amazing, and I would recommend it to any parents who want to give their children a strong foundation in their education.

My family is thrilled to share our exceptional experience at Las Cruces Academy! Our two boys, ages 6 and 9, have been attending the school and absolutely love it. The faculty are dedicated, passionate, and genuinely invested in helping each child reach their full potential.
The school's curriculum is well-rounded, challenging, and engaging. The small class sizes allow for personalized attention and a sense of community. The extracurricular activities are diverse and fun, catering to different interests and talents.
What impresses me most is the school's commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. The teachers, staff, and administrators are always approachable, responsive, and willing to go the extra mile.
Las Cruces Academy is the right place if you are looking for a school that will provide your child with a solid foundation, nurture their growth, and inspire their curiosity. We are grateful to be part of this wonderful community!

My 5-year-old son was a student at the school on the first day it opened in 2009, and he stayed there for six years until he entered middle school. What a tremendous boost he received at the LCA! He always performs way ahead of his grade level, and right now he is a sophomore at Las Cruces High School taking pre-calculus among other advanced classes. If you are thinking about private school, the LCA is the best place in Doña Ana county to send your child.

They enjoy all of their subjects, ranging from Chinese to Computer Programming to Tennis to American History to Science and are flourishing socially as well. It is truly a special place to watch your child develop confidence and a love of learning.

My daughter is in her second year at LCA and it has changed her life! She went from begging me not to go to school to begging me to pick her up later. The students are definitely challenged and expectations are high. I couldn't be happier as a parent, and she couldn't be happier as a student.

My son was in a private school where he seemed to always be bored. Since he joined Las Cruces Academy this year he is excited about his education. He loves learning Mandarin Chinese and hands on science projects and field trips. The teachers are all scholars in their field and I feel privileged that my son is able to grow and thrive in this fabulous school. This cool symbolizes to the childrent that being smart is cool

'Brains That Matter' is my characterization of the school. They have higher-than-normal standards because they expect more from the students.

Posted: October 16, 2013

LCA is a great school where students can learn at their own pace and not get bored or left behind. The staff is dedicated to each child's learning and help when assistance is needed.

LCA provides a unique combination of fostering, nurturing while simultaneously challenging each student s individual aptitudes. Low student to teacher ratios provides individualized attention. Parents are provided with weekly progress reports.

My son started his k in LAC. My son loves his school! It is good learning environment.

My son has been attending LCA for the past year and I am very happy with the school. I really like that he gets Spanish and Chinese everyday. There is an emphasis on reading and I couldn't be happier with the math program. My son is really happy at this school and our whole family would highly recommend it.

Our son has gone to the LCA from K-4 so far, and it is fantastic. He receives lots of individualized attention, is able to work at his own level and be challenged every day, especially in math, and the instructors are excellent. At the LCA, he has been exposed to science and several languages, every day, which otherwise doesn't happen until much later in the public schools. We are thrilled with the school and would not send him anywhere else.

I have had the wonderful privilege of teaching at Las Cruces Academy since it opened and am constantly amazed at the level of learning that is achieved by all the students. They work at their own speed but are continually challenged to improve and explore. We all care deeply for one another and respect each other. I can't recommend it enough to those families seeking a high level of education for their children. It's truly a place where kids can learn and play, and where the children don't want to leave at the end of their day.

LCA enables gifted and advanced students to progress at their ability level rather than their grade level in Math, Chinese and Spanish. They are in grade groups for subjects such as art and social studies, and mixed grades for music. Field trips are earned by reading a set number of age appropriate books! The school is large enough to have a broad and interesting curriculum and small enough for each student to be valued and respected by others. There are no cliques. The students enjoy recesses throughout the day, and P.E. They also produce a newspaper each semester and charity fundraiser performances. They choose which charities they wish to support, both local and global, and one group started a paracord business last year as a math project for fundraising , as well as collecting food for a food bank and books for a reading foundation. Even though they have a long day by most school standards, most students wish to remain after school for at least an hour to do projects, play games and do homework. I recommend LCA to any parent with a gifted child whose abilities are not encouraged or nurtured in regular school. This is a really exceptional school, for really exceptional children.

I am so impressed with the level of education that our daughter is getting at this very cozy, small school. Because the ratio of student to teacher in this school is so small, all the students get one on one interactions as compared to public schools. Also, the level at which they are being taught is higher in comparison to most public schools here in Cruces.

I was very concerned with where my son would attend kindergarten because he was a very particular pre-schooler. The small class sizes along with the excellent attention by highly qualified teachers has been wonderful for my son's education. He has flourished at Las Cruces Academy socially as well as academically. He is able to move forward as fast or as slow as needed, without the typical public school "everyone on the same page no matter what" environment. I also really love the fact that the school offers daily instruction in both Spanish and Chinese. We are so happy with this choice of education for our son!

I am so impressed with the level of dedication from the teachers at LC Academy to meet the needs of my children! They are so compassionate and encourage all students to learn above their grade level if they are ready. My kids feel safe and supported in this smaller, community school!
