We personally dislike homework. Since we have a lot going on most evenings and are usually not home until late, often homework is done right before bedtimes. This is obviously not the ideal timing and creates a stressful environment at night especially when they are already overtired from a long day. Although the homework usually does not take too long to do, we would love to see less homework in any given week.

We believe that there is too much testing pressure on teachers and students. This limits the creativity of the learning environment as well as the focus on helping students falling behind. We think that the Parkview teachers do the best they can. All of the teachers that our children have had are excellent teachers. They have thoroughly invested in our children and our children love each of them.

We have had three principals since my children have attended Parkview. The first two principals we had left due to taking new jobs. Hopefully, the new principal will remain with the school for awhile! Whenever there is leadership changes, there is always a transition and learning adjustment for the new leadership, teachers, and students.

We have heard positive and negative regarding this area. We personally have had good experience with the teachers creating and implementing a plan of action when there has been learning differences.

We have had an awesome experience at Parkview! My children love it there! We know of some parents/students who have had issues with the school for various reasons. However, anytime we have had an issue (academic or behavior), we talk to the teachers and the issue is usually resolved quickly. We feel that the teachers, principals, and staff truly care about the students and try to help them succeed. My children are involved with after school activities (music, art, STEM team) and they really enjoy these programs. We are also looking forward to the new building which is under construction now.

We had to move out of district because there was no way we were sending our children to Parkview anymore. My son received wonderful grades, but he was not challenged and was often bored with the work. I understand their main concern is bringing the school's terrible grade up, but that's no reason to focus only on the failing students and not accelerate learning or challenge others who do well. When items were stolen from my child, the staff would do nothing about it. To top it all off, I spent an entire year attempting to correct a teacher's misspelling of my son's name (a short and very common, easy name) and other words. It began with her incorrect spelling on his first report card and the final straw was her continual misspelling of conjunctions written directly on his conjunction homework! No wonder kids can't spell! The principals were wonderful though.

I know there is a lot of rumors & misinformation about Parkview out there. The current principal has worked hard to improve the reputation. If we were to move out of the Parkview zone, we would still send our kids there. Academically, we have improved a lot over the past few years and right now we are actually only a couple of points below Zia. Parkview is in a low income demographic so every student in the school gets free lunch (and breakfast) no matter what the family income is. The biggest problem that I see is the lack of parental involvement at the school. There are only a few of us who are there to volunteer regularly. I find that because I am there volunteering a lot, I have a good relationship with the staff. If I have questions, concerns, etc, I know that they will listen to me. The principal is very willing to talk to parents whenever needed. Parkview is also being rebuilt and is on schedule right now to be ready for students in Fall 2017. It will be the biggest elementary school in town when it is built.

As a teacher at Parkview Elementary I can tell you we have had many changes in the last couple of years. We have a wonderful Principal that truly cares about the students and teachers. We are constantly being pushed to become better teachers. We strive to create new and different ways to reach every child in our school. We provide a safe and caring environment where there's a whole lot of learning going on! Come see for yourself.......

This is my son's 3rd year at Parkview, and we couldn't be happier! His teachers have been wonderful, and the staff is always friendly and helpful! They have lots of activities that encourage parent involvement and do many fun things with the kids to motivate them to do their best. I know Parkview has a "reputation" due to the fact that it is not in the fanciest part of town, and I, too, was skeptical at first. However, after much consideration we decided to enroll our son there, as it is our neighborhood school. I haven't regretted it for a second! I would encourage you all, if Parkview is your neighborhood school, give it a chance. I think you will be glad that you did!!

I cannot give a better review for any other school my children have attended. Parkview has been a blessing for myself and my 4th grade son. He was having difficulties in the first school we chose this year but since he has moved to Parkview he has been a completely different child. HE LOOKS FORWARD TO GOING TO SCHOOL!!! I Believe I should have started him in Parkview from the beginning. This school is awesome!! The one thing I believe this school could use is the new school building they are well deserving of.

The staff and students at Parkview share a bond that is like family. We are all dedicated to helping one another achieve our main goal which is STUDENT SUCCESS!! Our students are our primary focus and we all want to ensure they have the best experience at Parkview. Out principal is our rock. My son was in the 5th grade last year and by the end of the first 9 weeks he was making straight F's. The teacher had moved him in a corner by himself. My wife went in and set in the class and set to see what was going on and the teacher did not help my son at all when my son had his hand eased for help. We asked the teacher why he did that and the teacher responded saying they didn't have time to teach my son and he had to much to do. I pulled my son out of parkview school and moved him to Grady where the next 9 weeks he was making A's and B's. This school was a big disappointment. It was a 3rd generation school for my family.

I myself was nervous about my daughter going to parkview elementary, but in the end it was the best thing that every happened to her! My daugher was always a good student with good grades and at parkview her grades when from good to great! Parkview is a great place for kids to go to school!!! The teachers are very helpful and they really care!
