After having my child recently graduate, I can say with confidence that I will not be sending any of my other children to this school.
The administration is lazy and uncooperative. Their communication with parents leaves a lot to be desired. There is only 1 (ONE) counselor for ALL of high school and middle school which led to my child taking classes they didn't need which was a waste of time. The counselor also apparently can't calculate a GPA - so that's a good sign.
The previous AP was rude, played favorites and didn't have follow through for things like marijuana vapes and allowed some kids one rule and while other kids getting RPC'd for doing the exact same thing.
The current principal just looks angry all the time, doesn't interact with any of the kids and is looking like he's just biding his time for retirement, and with 5 AP's, it might actually be the case.
I sent my child there because they were one of the few who did Duel Enrollment with CSN - now it is offered by many, so look elsewhere if that's what you're looking for.

Quality of education is great. Students have much more opportunity to participate in sports and clubs compared to public school.

I really love this school. I have two children there, one of which has an IEP.

The entire staff Has always been extremely supportive and helpful any time we’ve come to them. I have never seen more caring teachers in my life.

I don’t know how else to describe the relationships both us, as parents, and our children, as students, have built with the staff and teachers other than it’s like family.

I am honestly surprised that there are so many bad reviews on here. I volunteer at the school regularly and both of my children play sports for the school. (Yep, they offer elementary sports teams!) I socialize with other parents pretty often and I’ve never convetdated with another parents who is THAT unhappy with the school. Sure, there are minor complaints here and there, but nothing that’s ‘make or break’.

I am beyond grateful for Somerset Skypointe for the education and environment that they offer my children.

School is full of kids selling and doing drugs. Fights all the time. No real supervision, no real prep for college or things for these kids to do to further them in life. Absolutely no communication with parents but weekly letters that basically either complain about Tardies or the school drop off and pick up line in ever letter. Nothing is planned ahead of time, dances, extracurricular activities, even sports try outs and not much communication about it when it is planned a week or two prior to events. This school is an absolute mess and getting worse every year

Administration is nothing more then a bunch of bullies. They use fear and intimidation to control your children

If you approach the administration regarding bullying you then fear being reprimanded for it and threat of possible suspension

We have been going to this school for years and are very happy here. We sign up for all the apps and keep in contact with the teachers so we know what is going on with our kids. New principal is amazing.

Im frustrated with the administration sometimes. The way the staff treat the parents when there's a concern is disrespectful. I do enjoy talking to some of the teachers., It seems like they really care and are very involved in my children's education.

This school was great but I noticed a the quality of education and environment has declined. There are lots of great teachers but the administration is a little cold. When I talked about some issues my children were having, I felt they were not listening. Basically the the communication between the administration and parents is the problem. Major issues were not solved and there were many times I felt disrespected by the staff. I really want to work with the school to be a team but it's been difficult. The academics are ok but it was sometimes hard to get a reply from the teachers to know how my children were doing. This school can still be a great school if they close the gap between parents and administration. Validating parents concerns and working to find a solution would help a lot.

My son has been at this school for three years and I am fed up with the lack of communication and blatant disregard the teachers show about not caring about my sons education. I have sent several emails to the teachers and administrators regarding informing me of any homework or assignments my son needs to complete, with zero resolutions or help from them, basically they let him fail and have done nothing to improve communication between parent and teacher. The teachers say he is doing fine just to find out on his report card he got an F, with the teachers comment "pleasure to have in class great effort". I am currently looking for other options before they totally ruin my sons educational future.

I moved my kids to Somerset academy NLV last year after the ccsd school they were zoned for got consistently worse with a new principal and staff two years in a row. They were constantly being bullied and one of my daughter's grades started to suffer as a result. Making the switch to Somerset was an incredible relief. I was back in the company of other parents that cared about their kid's education and volunteered on a regular basis and my kids had/have great teachers that care about the students and inspire them. My kids are excited about school again and actually hate missing if they're sick or have a 3 day weekend. They have a very hands on curriculum that isn't completely centered around test results. My kids have all participated in various sports and after school clubs and take part in exciting field trips. I'm very happy that I made the decision to send my kids here and we've never felt excluded or discriminated against because of religion or race.

My child attends the Aliante campus and just like the parent below Im not of the Mormon faith. ..please avoid the stress of sending your child to this school . The teachers are incompetent, they lose the children's work and have no control over the classroom. The children (especially middle school) run completely wild. The students use profanity, bully, fight, and racist remarks against other students, teachers, and substitute teachers. Children that should be expelled for violence among other things are allowed to attend this school after drinking alcoholic beverages in class and violence against teachers and students. ...Do your own research before attending this school. Talk with other parents the word is starting to spread about this school. There's also another rating for this school on the great school website (Somerset Academy of NLV). Read the reviews of other parents and students. Beware of the this is a perfect school reviews like the one from the "parent" below. Quite often reviews are written by staff to keep the schools rating above three stars.

This is my sons first year at the Aliante campus and I can not say enough positive things about it. The office staff is welcoming, the teachers are helpful and attentive, the principal is in constant communication and easily accessible when needed. This school is run by positive reinforcement and the teachers really stay on top of each student to push for success. I love that I recieve bi-weekly emails from my sons teachers, updating me on how well he is doing. I was nervous switching him over for fear the the curriculum would be harder and he would fall behind with the extra challenge. He, instead, has blossomed. He is in AP English and math and has maintained His A average. Like I said- I can not rave enough. The teachers are so wonderful and will stay after school, come in early, and even email back and forth after school of the children need help. By the way, I am not Mormon and I have never felt discriminated against.

Somerset Academy is a Mormon ran school. If your not part of their religion your considered an outsider and treated as such. Somerset academy especially the NLV(Aliante) campus, is extremely disorganized! Teachers seem to make their own rules, that they break constantly at their convenience. Students Use profanity and discriminate against others, most teachers do nothing to stop them. There is discrimination constantly in the school system based on religion and most definitely race.....beware of this school, remember everything that glitters isn't gold.

Somerset Academy is wonderful . My child has attended 2 of the campuses and is now attending the Sky Pointe campus that all of Somerset Academy feeds into. She attended the elementary last year which has an amazing 5th grade team ! She received more help her 1st week than she received in years at the ccsd public schools. I love the fact it is not run by ccsd which I think ables the school to do more of what is best for the children's learning and progress. The enrollment is very easy and only on line ( very simple). Noel who tends the front desk for Jr. High & High School is incredibly helpful. The staff and and Administration are so Positive ! The school really feels more like a private schools because of the positive atmosphere. I believe its a combination of positive parents and school staff. We as parents are allowed and encouraged to help out . We are not turned away. They have a system you can check the grades on line daily and its real time ! :) This also immediately shows any missing assignments . There are after school homework classes to all led by actual Teachers for extra help! They are adding new sports every year as well. I am thankful & very happy !
