Absolutely disgusting experience. I genuinely feel sorry for any child who has to attend this school. The staff seemed overwhelmed and burned out, and unfortunately, that resulted in a serious lack of care, communication, and attention toward students.

While my son attended this school, we had problem after problem with bullying, and I repeatedly felt that staff did not take it seriously. The bullying became so severe that my son eventually wrote a note asking another student to kill him. What is even more disturbing is that his teacher knew about the note and never notified me. As a parent, I cannot describe how horrifying it was to discover that my child had reached that point and the adults responsible for him did not think I needed to know.

I immediately had him removed from that classroom, only for the situation to become even worse in his next class. Another student began bullying him and eventually slapped and choked him. Another teacher witnessed my son being choked and simply told the other student to stop. That was apparently the extent of the intervention.

When I brought my concerns to administration, I was told that staff absolutely should not have handled the situation that way and that the student would be suspended for at least three days. My son was devastated when that student was back at school the very next day. I later learned he had only received a one-day suspension for slapping and choking another child, despite already having a disciplinary history and recently serving a five-day suspension.

I asked the school to explain why such a serious physical incident resulted in only a one-day suspension and requested the hallway video of what happened. The school initially told me they could not provide the video because of HIPAA laws. As someone who works in the medical field, I knew that explanation was incorrect. Once I challenged them, their explanation changed, but they still refused to provide the video or adequately explain how the disciplinary decision was justified.

At that point, I had completely lost trust in the schools ability to keep my child safe, so I removed him from the school.

No parent should have to wonder whether their child is safe at school. No child should have to reach the point of writing a note asking someone to kill them before bullying is taken seriously. I strongly recommend looking at other schools in the area. Based on my experience, there are much better options.

So far this year was my kids first year in any charter school. Im grateful that I chose Legacy Traditional School. They teach the kids like back in the days. Not like public schools where they teach them certain things and not the things that have to be taught.

After a horrible experience with bullying at our local middle school we pulled our child and used virtual learning until we could find an alternative. The transition to Legacy was amazing. The staff are thoughtful and kind, my child who struggled with peers and academic focus is able to close out a year with great new friends and strong grades thanks to the support the school has provide and the opportunities available.

Bullying: My son has multiple scenarios where he is being bullied.
I have requested IEP testing 4 years ago. Finally, they started testing because I filled in a complaint. He is under 504plan be that is not followed.
Teachers: are rude and dont want to deal with special kids

This school is the absolute WORST! During the MAPS testing, teachers "encouraged" students by telling us our scores were terrible. From personal experiences, they basically made fun of us for being slow. Not even a slight bit of encouragement. There are no safety regulations. The aids out side "helping", do nothing. They don't help us at all. Fights go on, and they do nothing. I even saw one smoking on campus. She got mad at me. Another time, the teacher berated us for being "not smart, and embarrasing", for not learning. Teacher is better maybe. The materials would get into our head. Personally some teachers here are absolute amazing. They actually teach us and make it interesting.

My 5 year old son was kicked in the face and head today by another student. The school and administrators did not and have not contacted us at all in regards to the incident. The only way we found out, was through the Tele-health doctor, who had called and informed us about evaluating our son for a concussion. I tried calling the school to discuss, to which I was informed that all the administrators were in a meeting, and that the school has no cameras on the premises, so they don't know what exactly happened or which student assaulted my 5 year old.

This school is unsafe for children. Please do not be fooled that it is a "Charter school" in a nice neighborhood. They do not care about the well being of your child. They do not keep parents informed. And conveniently, they "do not have cameras" in their school, so they don't have any idea what goes on in their school.

my son was going here and i don't like this school they don't care about the students the bulling is ridiculous and my son would tell me that he would tell the teachers whats going on and they complain and ignore him.

I used to go here 6-8th grade, currently i am in high school. Now i am in the CSSD district. I took both Spanish 1, Spanish 2 , and i took computers for 6th. The school claims to give you high school credit however the credits did not transfer and now i have to retake all of those. I don't understand why they claim it as high school credit when it doesn't transfer

I taught at this school. It was chaos. Administration picked favorite teachers and gossiped about the rest. Administration seemed to be more concerned about whether they would get sued than student safety from behavior issues in the classroom. Administration did not support teachers in the classroom and neither did the management company (AZ). Administration did not promote self-esteem, respect, or collegiality. I LOVED the students and parents. It was not a totally safe environment for children or teachers.

My son went there for three years. We left because it was terrible. 2-3 hours of homework a night. Major bully problems. My son had a girl in his class that hit and bit kids. Kindergarten through 2nd grade every year she was hitting kids. Seemed to only be suspended once. One kid was bullied so bad he refused to go to school anymore. The school did nothing about it. My son was in the school play. Last rehearsal they were supposed to be done at 6. They kept them until 8 and never said anything to the parents. There was school the next day and they kept kindergarteners even until 8. No food provided. School was locked so parents couldnt get their kids or drop off food. The only reason we knew the kids were fine is because older kids texted their parents. The next day the teacher laughed about it on the local news. The school did nothing about it. Poor communication from the school. The test scores for the school were so bad one year they had to change everything. They used to teach a grade ahead but the charter board threatened to close the school if they didnt change because the test scores were terrible. I live two blocks away and yet I go farther away and have to drive my kid to school because we didnt want to be there. My son got straight As there but he still requested to transfer out. Everything at the school costs money too. Chess club was over $100 to join. Get a part in the school play? Gotta pay. They dont have some of the academic offers other schools do. They are big into theater at Legacy but the STEM schools have better academic offerings. For example my son is taking a class on Mars at UNLV this weekend. Programs like that werent offered at Legacy. There was an active shooter across the street and teachers let students watch from the windows. Also when the school goes on lockdown the parents arent notified.

My daughter has gone to the school since it opened and used to like it. If you notice most of the good reviews are in past years. The school has gone so far south! The administration does not communicate with parents. The management does not listen to concerns. There have been many, many parents who have complained about their lack of response to bullying, with zero change.
One of the teachers doesnt care if your child is getting a bad grade in their class, as long as they understand the curriculum. Your child could have a D or an F in his class and when you speak to him about it, he states that your child is doing good. The testing every week is 4 - 5 questions, so if your child misses just one question they automatically have a C. It is no way for a parent to monitor their childs grades. He told me, if he sees a student is struggle to understand, its hard for him to do but he refuses to talk to them. He feels it is their responsibility to go talk to him. It doesnt matter if your child is shy and introverted. If they dont approach the teacher, he will just allow them to struggle all year long. WOW!

Typically, a school will give their students the option of whether or not they want to do a project for the science fair. Not this school! Every year 5th - 8th graders, have to do a three month long science or engineering project. The outline for these projects should in no way be expected for children this young in age to do. My husband has a masters degree in electrical engineering, and there are parts of the outline that even he had trouble understanding. Just know if you choose to put your child in the school, you will have lots of homework yourself. And this is just one of the large projects. Ridiculous!
I dont see this school changing unless they get all new management. I have had a teacher (who is no longer there) tell me how much all the teachers dislike management there. They are rude to the teachers. Teachers drop like flies there. It is quite sad.
I do not recommend.

I agree with the other parent reviewer that said bullying is a problem at Legacy. Not only was my child bullied by several classmates, but also by the teacher. I volunteered weekly in the classroom, and witnessed this myself. My child was a minority in the classroom, and I noticed the teacher kept calling/picking on my child for no reason. She did this with another minority student as well. Both my child and the other student were a different race from her. The classroom bullies were the same race as her. I went to administration and I was told they do not move students to other classrooms. I was told it was school policy. I ended up taking my child out of the school and we havent looked back since. Never again at Legacy.

Nothing ever gets done with bullying until the student being bullied does something about it and then they get into trouble. A student is bullied all year long and the school is told about it, the school does nothing, student strikes back against his bully, bully doesn't get in trouble, but the student gets in trouble. That is how this school works. Someone only gets in trouble when they feel like it.

The leadership at this school doesn't deal with bullying in a timely manner. They pick and chose which bullying problems they want to handle. Student beating up kids in a bathroom - nothing, student bad mouthing a teacher- school handles, student hits another student- both students get in trouble, student is harassed by a classmate- nothing. There isn't a clear line with what leadership will handle and what they won't handle.

Students on the autism spectrum are not understood. The staff doesn't understand that sometimes what a student with autism says is not always what they mean or that some students on the spectrum can be tricked by their fellow students into saying something that they may not mean; the fellow students use it against them to get them in trouble. There are several times when a student on the spectrum got into trouble because another student lied about something that they did or said. The school isn't equipped to handle students on the spectrum.

This school gets 2 stars from my family. The school work is fine, but bullying is a huge problem. Not just students bullying other students, but teachers bullying students as well. If leadership would do more about bullying and investigation more this school would rank higher.

Every school has bullies, get over the PC - shelter your child mindset and teach them that the real world hurts, you'll be fine. My kids friend was essentially told that its alright to be a tattle tale and tattle on the other kids, so they do. It is ridiculous. There will be bullies all the time, but there are ways to fix that, like do not allow grades to mix during recess or other activities unless properly supervised. Realize though that this is a K-8 school, so you have to kind of expect it to happen either way.

Overall a decent experience. Administration does not work the way it did when I was a kid, where parents call to talk to the vice principal or principal and immediately get them unless they're in a meeting already. Yes, the classes are 30 kids but teachers (depending on age) seem to handle it without an issue. The younger teachers seems to believe that class size over 15 is too much, as well as most of the parents I hear from. Get over it, classes when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s were 25+, every subject, every day, homework daily, carrying textbooks every day, for the most part we and prior generations turned out well. If you want the old ways, go here. If you'd rather the new ways, coddling, etc then go to a public school or homeschool.

Kids get homework ever night, the only thing I think that needs to change is homework in every subject, every night. The homework isn't hard nor is it a lot. It is the "OLD" way of learning, like when I was a kid in the 80s and early 90s. If you want more PC and the 'new age', take your kid to CCSD schools for the group therapy sessions of learning.

Teachers are a hit or miss, but that's expected at every school. My kids first teacher was so flustered all the time, she asked me for advice on how to deal. I found out the teachers mom would come in to help, but then she would single out a few of the students in the class and constantly ride those students about everything they did or did not do. My kids new teacher, amazing.

It starts at home, but they help and reinforce it. Every kid has the opportunity to be rewarded for being a leader of some sort at the school and get recognized for it.

It falls under CCSD, so they will help to a certain extent but they're actually ran from Arizona so getting in touch with like a superintendent about things is difficult. Depending on who you're dealing with and the circumstances, leadership with the administrative staff is alright. Lacking in some areas where you're kid will be taught to tattle on others, then see those who tattle being rewarded.

Learning differences (ie: ADHD/ADD/the need for special education), yes when it is clinically diagnosed. To cater to a child who would rather learn in groups or something like that when the lesson does not require or warrant it, no. This is the OLD method of school, curriculum and teaching. If there is an issue and you don't agree with the way things were done back in like prior 1990, then do not have your kid attend the school. If you want the old curriculum, the old methods, the homework, etc, then put your kid in the school so that when they get out of this campus in 8th grade and go to high school at a CCSD school, they're 3 or 4+ years further advanced than their peers in 9th grade.
