We have two children who have attended C.T. Sewell and they love it. They are now in 3rd and 5th grade-- their teachers are dedicated and professional, and they come home with new knowledge every day. They are also learning about diversity--there are kids of all backgrounds, including special education, and they are taught to respect everyone, which we value. Sometimes there are arguments on the playground or at lunch that we hear about, but it sounds like there is always a caring adult to help resolve conflicts and keep kids safe. We feel like the staff genuinely cares about the unique characteristics of our children, and we receive ongoing communication regarding homework, progress, and events. The principal who works there has been there for a couple years now, and I think things have really been improving since she started. Our family would recommend Sewell to kids and families in Henderson.

My experience was horrible, Horrible staff members it was to the best of my availability to move far away so my daughter can be at a better school zone. Ver unprofessional staff. They only care for them selfs and not kids the teacher are good just the staff and it’s disrespectful that I put this school a one star just because of the front staff.

I’ve been to this school for a year and it absolutely sucked. Fights would go on every month or so and tons of kids would get bullied for clothing or style. I was bullied for a while there. School lunch was horrible. One time a kid got a moldy grape and they would give us stuff like potatoes that look two days old and give us ripoff cheetos. Plus, the learning style was not too great. I’d have a hard time understanding homework since the instruction was extremely unclear and I have failed science during the time I was at this school. Another thing. During dismissal, they have such a bad style of letting out students. What they do is let out the buses with the cars at the same time and the students. It would be confusing for certain people and was for me. Lastly, friendships and social interaction. It was slightly easy to make friends at this school. But you’ll only make friends if your not a “freak” or something like that.

Also, the special education would always just roam around everywhere. I know they can’t control it, but do the special ed helpers really have a hard time keeping them in one room, keeping them safe, and just not having them go around to wherever they want?

I definitely DO NOT recommend this school and I am so glad i’ve moved out of that school. But, If you do decide to place your kid in this school then their mental health will go down the drain.

Horrible and horrendous. The staff needs retraining and or replaced. Special needs kids go here, my daughter included. Multiple times now the lack of communication is stunning. Today, our daughter who is autistic comes home on the bus, plays for a few hours and then randomly tells us there is a piece of paper in her ear. We check the app they use to communication with parents and at 220 her teacher told us, but the issue is, why wasn't she sent to the nurses office and a phone call? To pick her up early. They can call me to see if she can attend a field trip but not a medical emergency? That is put lower to a text message but a field trip is a phone call?

Do not move to this area where your kids get zoned to this school.

Absolutely horrible. Horrible staff, other than a few teachers, horrible office staff (they don’t have a clue what they’re doing what so ever and lie continuously just to get you out of their face) the school is just complete garbage and I would not suggest enrolling your child in this school. There is never police presence yet there are CCSD police at my sons middle school daily. Sad sad place!!!!!

I thought Jiji was okay at first, but as you get close to finishing. I realized this math was not suited for kindergarteners.

The teacher my child had only talked to a selected, few parents. Never gave updates on my childs progress and when I asked questions, she Never had an answer. She came off as Cold, fake & uneducated.

There is to much bullying going on at this school. And teachers and staff turn a blind eye to it. And these kids are starting off early bullying. Good luck complaining because nothing will get done. They make parents seem like the bad person for caring about their kids. And good luck speaking to the principal, that person is always at another school with so called "emergencies".

My child was bullied and nothing was done about it. I talked with the teacher and it got worse. Then spoke with administration, they believed the teacher and turned things around on me. It was a waste of time but atleast I tried for my child. And any parent sending their child to this school needs to constantly ask their kid questions, to see what's going on. That's how I found out about the problems going on. My childs worthless teacher definitely wasn't informing me of things I should have been made aware of.

Horrible.. I wouldn't let a dog go here if they accepted pets. This school is racists, look around you can count the minority workers here. They do nothing about bullying and many workers lack intelligence. Staff stands around gossiping about parents and drama in the school. I would not recommend this school to anyone, unless you want to spend a lot of money on a therapist to get your child back normal. Homework was not challenging at all. Not enough parking and there is a section of parkings for buses, the cars still block the way and park there. When it's raining they keep parents at the back gate to get rained on.. Instead of rainy day schedule (where you get kids from class). If your child has an accident they won't call home. When you inquire about them not calling home, they say "it wasn't an emergency" or they had to many emergencies that day to call home. Take heed to my warnings. I would hate for another child to experience what my kid has experienced, while going to this school. I'm grateful that my child only came here one year and will not be returning to this school again.

A lot of kids that like to tease my son about his shoes hair anything they can. Do far according to my son only referrals given but no action taken.

Some are some aren't. Some kids need extra help. And protection against bullies or kids that like to tease.

Seems to be a lot of bullying going on. My son gets teased daily and nothing is getting done about it. Dissent even want to go to this school anymore.

Dr. Ratliff, the front office staff and all the teachers I have had the pleasure of interacting with have been remarkable. The students are challenged yet have a great mixture of activities and exercise. 2015 they introduced Chinese lessons from a guest teacher and my daughter can sing and count after a few short weeks. My husband I are were skeptical given the size diversity of needs the school caters to, and we continue to be impressed every day our daughter comes home with something new she's learned.

my child is in love with school. they have the Sparklers that my daughter loves. Plus they also have cheerleading and color guard, and they have student council and after school all stars. My daughter loves to do all.

This school is absolutely wonderful if you have a child that fits the mold. I have two children one with special needs (classroom inclusion) and the other in general ed classes. My child does not always bring homework home (it gets lost before leaving class) and we spend HOURS upon HOURS trying to get through the additional required materials - Jiji and Study Island (which I feel is a big waste of time and the kids hate the programs). I get unsatisfactory notices every time they are sent out and every period the comments are the same. Focus on Jiji and Study Island and your child will improve. Well...the bottom line is these computer programs do not work for every child. I don't think the teachers know what to do with kids that don't fit into the mold. I do not blame the teachers. They are very hard working and I understand they do not have the time to allocate to each child with problems. My child has an IEP and even that does not seem to make a difference. I am a very hands on parent, but the system ties my hands at every turn. Communications at this school are dreadful. I never know about anything until the night before, which makes it impossible to plan ahead.

I have two kids that are in Speical needs classes and one that is in GE. There are way to many kids in each class room. Kids don't come home with homework. No one can return a phone call or email. This is not a good school. I had to pull out one of my kids. Due to he wasn't getting the help that he needed. And now I am pulling my other two.
