Lied Middle School demonstrated a complete failure of leadership and accountability.
I raised serious concerns regarding my child and received no response whatsoever from the principal. Not acknowledgment. Not follow-up. Not even the courtesy of a reply. When school leadership chooses silence over action, it sends a clear message about priorities.
Because the principal failed to respond, I was forced to escalate the matter to the superintendent, a step that should never be required for a parent advocating for their child.
The lack of communication, urgency, and responsibility shown in this situation reflects a broader problem with administrative leadership. Parents should be deeply concerned about how issues are handled when they arise and whether school leadership is willing to do its job.
This experience was disappointing, alarming, and entirely avoidable.

The teachers are cool but dont really teach and some of them just dont care and teach students when they dont need help even when other students need help, the food is most likely prison food but worse and cant even be edible due to the cold foods these kids get fed. Multiple kids smuggle food into classes due to how inedible the food is

We have found Lied to be adequate our 6th grade year. If you have a child who is advanced and excited to be academically challenged after limited opportunities in elementary school (GATE only), please be aware that Lied has all students take advanced classes regardless of their abilities. Advanced for all is advanced for none.
The only core class with placement based on ability is Math where a double advanced option is available to students who qualify for it and are interested in the academic challenge. In comparison, our zoned middle school offers many of the same STEM classes as electives or clubs, and in addition to Math placements, also places students in Science and ELA classes at their learning level.
If youre applying for Lied in hopes that your advanced student will be around other advanced learners who need to be challenged, just know that they will be placed with all students for ELA and Science. You lose one of the major perks of middle school with Lieds policy.
I would only recommend this school to families whose students are not advanced.

Ive been to this school for 3 years and it has been a pain. For one, the food is terrible, the only good thing is the dominoes pizza. Most of the teachers will yell at you for barely any reason. I had free time and my teacher yelled at me because I wasn't doing work, even though I had none. And when I went to ask what to do they yelled at me more and told me to sit down. With people who have disabilities, they handle it well. In the school bus they allow people in wheelchairs. With safety, it isn't good. In my first year, everyone started fighting and no one cared until the next year, when we got a new principle. This principle was rude to everyone. If someone sends an email asking a question, he yells at you. There is no emotional support unless you have friends. Teachers and staff do not care. I have barely learned anything in this school.

This school does NOT care about your health or feelings, and do NOT car about your safety and comfort. The teachers here only care about other teachers and will not try to help you in any way. Last year, there was a FALSE HARD LOCKDOWN, AND MULTIPLE BOMB THREATS. This school has made me feel uncomfortable and depressed.

My son was battling depression and the staff just wrote him off as a bad kid.

I mean don't get me wrong, it is an average middle school but some of the teachers are iffy (lots). terrible food, I mean it is considered ''edible'' but it looks and tastes so bad. lots of fights breaking out. People are sent to the office 24/7 and one time my friend got sent because they ''did something wrong'' and I went to prove that she was not in the wrong the vice principal screamed in our face and sent us out. Overall the worst staff member is the vice principal because he disrespects teachers, students and is just generally a bully. (all of the following I saw ). I don't want to attend this school mostly from first hand experiences with staff and the fights. some of the staff can just be so rude at times. The only porpoise of some of these teachers are to make the students take notes the entire time. There is nothing special about this school and frankly the students are not either. all of the students come to this school out of chance because THEY DO A RAFFLE TO ENROLL STUDENTS. would not recommend this school and neither would the students.

I have never had a school with such poor communications. In fact, the parents of other students that entered as 6th graders (and are teachers themselves) have complained about the same issues. Nothing at the school is as they represent. My child went from being in GATE and exceling to not knowing what was expected of him. The teachers will not communicate and wait to enter all of their grades at the deadline, ensuring they do not have to do what the school promises, which is allowing students to redo any work that they did not score as high on and be regraded. Even the counselor assigned to 6th grade took me reaching out on multiple occasions to get a response, and after one week of communication, it went back to how it was.
All of the things they promise are not fulfilled. They do have a new principal next year, so maybe they will reach the level of just the normal public schools next year.

As a student of this school, I can say that I enjoy the staff and teachers that work at the school. The students on the other hand, are a whole other story. As a result, I have mixed feelings about the school. I enjoy going to the school, but I do not enjoy the kids at the school. For example, half the kids at the school do not pay attention in class/ use their phone the entire time. The teachers tell them to stop, but they do not listen. Some students should be expelled by now, but have not been over the course of 3 years with constant bad behavior. I would also say that some teachers do not teach very well, but some are the best teachers I have ever had. I will say though, I am a bit of a nerd... so I go to the school to learn, rather than socialize. This could be why my review is talking negatively about students rather than teachers. I have no interest in making friends at this school because to be rather blunt, most of them are not the greatest of kids. Some of these students (rather all of them) have made me question if I want to continue going to this school. I should mention I am in 8th grade at the time of writing this review.
I am around constant cursing and just all around negative behavior, all day, every day. Unless you are in the super accelerated classes (I unfortunately did not get into them) you are only going to meet the bad kids at the school, for the most part. There are a few smart kids at the school that came to the school for the same reason I did, which would be to learn. But finding them is really rare, and most of them don't like to talk to people, like me.
We have a thing called "NavTime," and it is basically where you get to do an activity for 30 minutes of your lunch (divided into 2 halfs) or the full 60 minutes. There are many different activities, some include: Silent reading, Rubix Cube Solving, ELA Study Hall. Unfortunately, most kids that attend one do not do what they are meant to do in the NavTime. So many kids at this school are completely addicted to their phones (it's rather unfortunate, really) We do have some rather weird kids, but most of the weird ones are the good kids.
Anyways, I hope this finds whoever reads it well and helps them choose if they want their kid to go to this school (if anyone reads it) Good day!

I never heard of a academy school having such low standardization in the Administration , office stuff , some teachers and the CSMs . The school is terrible and they label your kids off of what they wear to school etc. I regret sending my child there.!!!

Horrible school!! Principle has no control over teachers. Two of the four teacher don't even teach, just tell students to use YouTube or Google. They email parents to check parents portal to ensure work is done, but they don't update grades or missing assignments. Called to speak to counselor and she stated if I am not happy with the school, I can always leave.what kind of answer is that?? So I called to talk to the principal and and was transfered to one of the two vice-principal. (Why two vice principals) schools need more teachers not chiefs. I discussed my concerns with the teachers, grade management and how the counselor told us we could leave. She stated she was aware and stated she talked to the counselor, and would ask the teachers to update the grades, but it's ultimately up to the teacher on when she does it. I stated are there no standards or policies established by the school to set a standard and she said no. I don't recommend this school! I can honestly say this school was worse than my sons previous magnet school.

The principal at this school is by and far the most dedicated in all of CCSD. The teachers here care for their students and make sure they get the help they need. I think the responsible parents understand why other parents get frustrated with CCSD schools. If you help your children in the home, they will succeed in CCSD.

Many kids I know hate this school and how it deals with bullying because they never do anything.
Posted: May 4, 2018
This school is the worst school I have ever been to. Most of the kids are rude and don't stop talking, the teachers don't even do much. One of the math teachers in 6th grade doesn't even teach, he tells them to just go on Aleks and lets them talk. I want to move to Cram.

I feel that we almost never receive homework, therefore resulting in kids not getting the full education they need.
Posted: April 22, 2018

Posted: April 22, 2018
There is no discipline! This is a strong problem, kids are getting bullied, cussing kids out, and being horrible people.
Posted: April 22, 2018
Posted: April 22, 2018
I love Lied, but there is no discipline for any of the kids, and there is not enough homework.
Posted: June 22, 2017
The Dean does a fairly good job at squashing bullying-although protecting the kids identities when they report something is probably something they need to work on in order to not make "the whistleblower" a target.
Posted: June 22, 2017
This school is plagued with fights, bad behavior and as is the norm here apparently; a high student to teacher/student to counselor ratio. My son has special needs and I don't think other than the registration he's ever talked to the school counselor.
Posted: June 22, 2017
New Principal so I am giving the guy a shot; as for the rest of the leadership...how would one know, they don't interact with parents.
Posted: June 22, 2017
Coming from a different school/state I can tell you that on my son's IEP they met almost none of the services he had at his previous school. Pathetic.
Posted: June 22, 2017
I never know when my son's homework is due and "curriculum by chromebook" is horrible.
Posted: June 22, 2017
Admittedly there are a few good teachers at this school; but there are far more who are biding their time until the retirement check flows.
Posted: June 22, 2017
Horrible; my son's grades have plummeted since arriving here. He is on an IEP (the goal being to eventually get him off the IEP); I don't foresee that happening at this school.
Posted: March 19, 2015
This school is terrible. The staff feels as if they're not obligated to respect the students because their children. The teachers don't get involved until the situation escalates or a upset parent makes an appearance. My child is a A B student in 7th grade and was suspended for the first time after being provoked by a group of boys in the cafeteria. Now she's being expelled for a fight that she wasn't even apart of. These children struggle everyday to fit in and be accepted and the staff don't realize the challenges the children face in a peer pressured environment. They believe in kicking students out instead of developing programs and interventions to assist them. This is why the children fall behind and continue to inherit behavioral problems. Decisions are not based on equal fairness and I will be fighting for my child until the very end. Clark County School District need to step up and make a change before we be left with a generation of uneducated and unmotivated children.

This school is horific. I repeated the 8th grade already and they are trying to hold me back again! The teachers yell and curse at you as well as lose work and claim you never did it. Not to mention i had teachers be very inappropriate towards me. Worst school ever

I think schools get a bad rap from kids that get in touble ... My daughter came over to Lied from Escobedo and she is doing just fine!! My son has done alot better as well since his tranfer... I think the Dean is very personable as well. Parentlink is always getting updated!!

This school is terrible. The conditions are even unsanitary, with the lunchroom smelling like a sewer. The best part about it is the music program. The administration is an abomination, most teachers my child had this year were okay, one was atrocious. Constantly lost my child's work and said my child didn't do it. I am just about ready to put my child in another school.

Im an 8th grader about to go to High school. Lied isnt great. They people there are rude, there is major drama. I guess its who you hang out with there though. Some teacher are beyond rude. Other teacher are great. They classes are packed. My smallest is i think the smallest in the school and its 20 (very uncommon). about my largest is over 50. Lied isnt great but its not that bad from when i can in 6th grade its gotton better. I think they actually tried to imrove grades this year other than not caring like the others. Dress code and taties are excudes if they know you. They play favorites way to much. and They arent strict on fights, There isnt as much as there was in 7th grade. Half the fights they dont know about even though it happens on campus . But over all its pretty much based on who you hang out with. The school has gotton better but its not even close it the best. its okay. I wish i would of gone to a better school.
