The new Admin have bought in a (First 10 and last 10 extra assignment) for every class. On top of your normal class work and assignments. If you are representing your School for a Sport and miss this your grade immediately drops by 10 percent. No one knows why they are doing it. It lowers students GPA. And no study hall to make it up because they don't offer that.
A friend of my Students grades dropped horribly because of this and failed numerous classes. My Student nearly failed also.
Maybe to stop kids from skipping class but it punishes everyone. There is huge room for error and students grades dropping by huge percentages. They also lock bathrooms at the School. Which makes it hard for children to access bathrooms which is a basic human rights need.
They have Awesome Sports Coaches and Teachers.
And then there are the gangster kids. Unfortunately they are there. There were times when I felt unsafe.
There are normal kids and IB kids also who are great.

The IB program teaches you how to properly manage all of your coursework in a similar fashion to how college work will be structured.

I was in the IB program and at the time I hated it. I didnt realize, though, how much it was preparing me for later in life. Currently Im serving active duty in the military overseas and taking full time classes through the University of Maryland and Im surprised how well Ive been able to manage my two lives at once. Also Ive spoken with many of my friends that Ive met overseas that participated in the IB program as well and Im surprised to have learned how similar our experiences were. We all agreed that we hated HL English. That said, Id still do it all over again.

My daughter is in the IB program here as a Freshman, and she is pushed hard every day by her teachers.
These teachers may appear to many that they don't care, but to the students that want to get an education and go to college and be something great in life, know how to tap into the teachers and get all the support needed.
The teachers do an incredible job at this school. They work with such limited resources, yet for the children doing IB OR taking AP, they are the best prepared students in the state.
I'll take a school in need of resources and updating that offers the best education and readiness over a new or fancy school that does not prepare the students at all.
The principal and all supportive staff are always ready to jump in and resolve any concern. I've tested that and found that they work collectively with the student and family to achieve what the goal of the family is.
Again, this is only our first year and we have no regrets. Do the homework on whether your child is doing everything to get ahead, or is whining because they are pushed by the teachers to do well and don't take excuses for not getting work done.

As a class of 2000 student, the school facility is very outdated, concrete structures, very dark halls, no skylights, very open campus that is hard to survey for staff and easily targeted by common gangs and graffiti, only 2 of the 7 teachers in any given school year I had were great and highly involved with schools, the rest of the staff is by-the-curriculum and seems somewhat uninspired, the private teachers offices are highly cluttered. Physical Exercise often consisted of running and walking laps, aerobic exercise and rarely ball games, floor hockey, archery there is a great deal of unused equipment. The school placed more importance on their football and basketball teams than any other area of education that would be valuable to the city of Reno and state of Nevada. Cafeteria food is extremely poor and daily offers poor nutrition pre-processed and reheated meal franchise outlets, soda and snack machines are common in the school. Sodas, donuts and pizza were served A La Carte for breakfast. This school has no interest in your child's internal health, energy and motivation is low. There are no open gardens, there is plenty of wasted space for non-productive lawns and gravel.

This is one of the best schools in Reno or Nevada for that fact. The teachers are highly knowledgable and also the JROTC program is one of the best in the nation.

Great school spirit, poor teacher/student interest. Tired of seeing teachers give up at the very first sign of help needed. Will be glad to move my child away this summer and never return to this school again.
