if i could i would review this school a 0, this place has been terrible since 2019 and i wouldnt wish any parent send their child to this establishment. the teachers are all but absentminded and have zero interest in the students growth and just sit around waiting for their paycheck. the adminstration takes on the most incompetent people and puts them into positions of power above students, teachers who are supposed to help the student learn, push them down and discourage growth, my child has learnt nothing from their years here and has received multiple disciplinary actions for unfair reasons. The disciplinary committee has zero awareness of what happens in this school and chooses specifically to punish those with slight offenses rather than those who pose an actual threat to other students. bullying is a major issue here and has been for a long time, children will verbally abuse eachother and even physically harm eachother while the teachers do absolutely nothing to prevent this. the administration turns a blind eye to those whose parents are on the payroll and shows clear favoritism towards certain students. if you are thinking of enrolling your child here, please reconsider, there are so many better options in Las Vegas and any single one of them would be better.

Our familys experience with Awaken Christian Academy has been one of the most painful and disillusioning chapters of our lives.

After years of thriving at this school, our daughter began experiencing severe emotional distress at the start of this school year due to unresolved classroom and peer issues. She came home in tears almost daily, expressing anxiety, fear, and a growing inability to function in what should have been a safe learning environment.

Despite months of communication and repeated pleas for intervention, the administration failed to implement even the most basic protective measures. Instead of providing meaningful support, we were met with delays, deflection, and ultimately a suggestion that our child should withdraw as though removing the victim was the solution.

What is most troubling is the complete disconnect between the schools stated mission as a faith-based institution and its actions. Compassion, accountability, and advocacy were absent when our child needed them most.

No parent should ever have to beg a school to protect their childs emotional well-being. No child should feel that leaving their school is the only way to find peace.

I would not recommend this school to any family seeking a safe, responsive, and genuinely supportive environment for their child.

During my years at this school, This year has got to be my WORST one yet. How do you run a high school, but can not get food for your students. I barely eat lunch due to the poor food choices, and the lack of concern of the students' hunger. They have only person working on lunch.

I would give the school a 3.5.

I have been going to this school for 3 (school) years. Trust me, middle/high school is so much better than the elementary side.
I'm just going to stick with middle school. The teachers are super nice, and the students, are...OK.
I'd like to warn any new transfer students. And FYI this is going to be my perspective on the grade I am in so don't take everything I say correct.
There are GROUPS. For the girls, I'm just saying, theres one group which hates everyone that's not in theirs. And if you leave their group, they hate you more.
For the boys, it's either a win or lose. If you want to have a lot of friends, you need to make an impact.
Which is kind of opposing the Christianity because there aren't supposed to be groups. Everyone should get along with each other and be friends with everyone.
But sadly, that's how it is. There's still the popular crowd, the outcasts (surprising, I know,) and people who just gossip about everyone.
And don't get me wrong, the group that gossips is not the populars. Just letting you know.

I've been talking about social life about this school for a while now on this page. But that's because that's all there is to talk about. The rest is fine.

In middle school, right now, there isn't really a lot of homework. Teachers help you with it, and homework, when given, is very understandable. I would just watch out for middle school math. This school has introduced a new program called, ALEKS, which is supposed to help you with math. A lot of my classmates complain about it, and according to most people, it's very hard. Our math teacher is very nice, but you just can't go up to her every single time asking questions ten times in a row. Other than that homework is something you shouldn't really need to worry about.

Teachers at this school are amazing! They love connecting with their students. With our middle school teacher, Mrs. Gray, we have so much fun! I could see the teachers really wanting to connect with their students. (For English one class, Mrs. Gray was on the topic of Tik Tok and then dabbed in front of us for all to laugh!) The teachers still focus on school and work though, so it's a perfect balance.

Watch out for one teacher though from the highschool side. I don't want to give out any names but she just hands out demerits if you do something wrong. Other than that the teachers are really good.

We have Chapel, Bible class, and devotionals around every single day. And that's good. It's just most people tend to let that go through one ear and out the other.
The problem isn't the Chapel, Bible class, and devotionals. I guess it's how they teach them. I get peers saying "Oh in Chapel, it's so boring because all the people up there talk so boring," and other things like that.

Most people are already OK at heart though. And don't take that in a bad way, most people are super nice and respect others. It's just that most don't really mind about integrity and all that.

I don't really get by what "leadership," but this is going by the type I think of.

Most people are kind of too shy to step up and no one really wants to stand out. And if people do want to lead, then it's usually for personal gain, like being team captain so a team can win. But sometimes, people don't even want to do that.

I agree! There's almost never a student who one day has a problem and still has it the next day! And I'm not exaggerating! The teachers here are able to explain to students in an easy way what to do. Don't be afraid to ask!

I'd have to say nope, and as a victim or drama, I've been through it. The teachers just talk to all the students involved....if your even LUCKY enough.

The office literally does nothing about it! And guess what, the drama continues. Teachers and the staff really only care about what's happening when there's physical contact involved. Sometimes words hurt more than actions.

Five stars. We love the Christ-centered teaching and how the Christian Faith is lived out in the lives of the administration, staff, and many students at the school. We are going into our 10th year at Calvary and am so grateful for the wonderful experience it had been in our sons life. Calvary really is family!

The teachers challenge students to apply what they learned in the classroom through homework. It is kept at a realistic amount because the school believes in helping the whole child to grow in every area; not just academics, but spiritually, physically, and emotionally.

My daughters have attended school here since Kindergarten. One is in 10th and the other graduated and now is at Penn State. I was a working parent for most of their years there and am so thankful of the safe and affordable environment offered at Calvary before and after school. We have had great experiences with Calvary Athletics, and the Athletic Department. Calvary teachers are very caring and nurturing. Some new teaching talent has been hired this year. My daughters were accepted at Faith and Gorman but ultimately we decided the Christian environment will sustain them when they get out in the world and go to large universities. In conclusion, I would urge working parents to tour Calvary. The peace of mind I had sending my children there was worth a million. The tuition at Calvary is one of the least expensive private schools.

My child starts this school for the first time in the fall so I am giving this school an average rating so I can comment on the parent who just reviewed the school in regards to Dave Bliss on 8/6/2017. How can you possibly know how Dave Bliss will be as the new Athletic Director when it hasn't even started yet? I think it would be good of you to be supportive and encouraging to the new coach, the school, and the children instead of being negative and pessimistic. Honestly, I am super excited to see what the Lord is going to do for this school through the new AD. The Lord's glory shines the most in the humbled heart of a man.

This school is a joke and Dave Bliss the new athletic should never be allowed to work around children if your child isn't a superstar athelete the new principal/superintendent won't care about him and will let other student bully him this place is the farthest thing from a Christian school

My daughter goes to this school since 8th grade and now she's in 9th grade. Not only she's excel on her academic but her knowledge of the Bible and her faith in Jesus Christ has grown. It takes a strong and mature faith in God and very good grasp of God's word just to survive in this culture and I think Calvary Chapel Christian School is the right place to get prepared for her future.

I don't think there's bullying at this school. All the kids are loving and caring. Not only they emphasized no bullying but they also have Bible Class and regular service every Monday morning.

I have a son that graduated from here in 2012 and a daughter that started in preschool. First this school is centered on the word of God, I love that we can pray and give glory to God daily as they learn and grow. The school is a safe environment for my children. The families that attend here are like a huge family as well. I love that!! I love that my children can go here from PK - 12, but still experience an elementary environment, a middle school experience and the awesome high school experience and graduation as well. Our graduation is so personal and so heartfelt. We have great athletes, scholars, talented students in all of the arts, and most important children that have a heart for God and our world that go to our school!

Our son began this year in the sixth grade and has excelled beyond what we thought possible. The teachers, Staff, Principal Ruiz and Pastor Rick go out of their way to create a safe, enjoyable and teachable culture. Send you son or daughter here, you will not regret it. These people genuinely care about people and it shows. In this day and age it is good to see a group of people joining together to make the lives of kids and families better! :-)

Every student has the option of taking a study hall class which really helps with the homework load. My kids were never buried in homework and always had time for family activities and church.

CCCS develops the whole student. The academics are great, but what really impresses me is the caring atmosphere. The teachers and staff pour themselves into every student and go out their way to ensure success both academically and socially.

My son is a recent graduate of CCCS. He attended Calvary from K-12th grade. This school not only taught him how to read and write but also how to defend his faith, share Jesus and speak in public with confidence and courage. The faculty and staff at Calvary are family and the atmosphere is comfortably and nurturing. Students are prayed with and for daily. He graduated ready for college and received a great scholarship from a top Christian university. Way to go Calvary! You are raising up a generation of leaders who love Jesus!

Great School with an open campus environment. We have searched this valley high and low, looking for a place to call home. By the grace of God, we found Calvary Chapel. It's truly our new home and community. I would recommend this school to anyone. We have had our kids in this school for the past four years and don't plan on leaving. Our children are getting a great education and getting the word of God. We have tried the public school system and realized quickly how far behind our children were when they arrived. I will say the work load is heavy, but that's to be expected.

To the parent that entered a post on 5/26/2014 A lot has changed in 5 years since your child was at Calvary. My kids have had a great experiences and they probably were in class with your child. I was the room mom for both teachers They worked so hard for all the kids. 4th grade is a difficult year anyway. As parents it's our job to partner with the school and not expect the teachers to do it all. Why are you posting something 5 years later? How is your child doing now? I bet very well.

Update on my prior reviews. A lot of the good teachers have resigned at this school. When talented individuals leave, that should be a cue to parents. I don't mean one or two, I mean more than that and in combination of both Elementary and High School levels. Very sad, but unfortunately when you have administration who cannot see why they lack talented teachers, there is always a reason: "a shaky foundation who is in denial for change." If you want to live in fantasy land, bring your kids here but you will have a wake up call when they attend college. Then you will see where the inconsistencies lied in their education. You are better off letting them watch the 700 Club and follow those teachings than sending your kids here!

Thursday, I witnessed grace under fire. I heard and watched a parent scream, cuss, and throw things at the ladies in the school office because SHE owed money to the school and did not want to pay it. These ladies work so hard for our school and did not deserve this kind of treatment. They are so sweet and kind to all the kids and parents that come into the office. Kudos to Cheryl, Deana, Laura, Judy, and Jan for you patience and hard work. You are a blessing to our school.

My daughter has been in this school from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. This year they hired a new 3rd grade teacher who is probably the worse teacher in this school. Students are tranferring to the other section to avoid this teacher, sadly we were to late to transfer my daughter to the other section. It has gotten so bad that my daughter wishes to transfer to another school. They have a lot of favoratism in this school and it shows. The tuition keeps on increasing even when they say they will not raise if we participate in the fundraising. I am now looking to transfer my daughter to another school. I am very disappointed at this school.

I need to mention that also a lot of favoritism among the staff of the school. If your child is not talented or athletic, no problem...anyone can be part of the team or play as long as your parent volunteers and does not complaint about anything. You need to pretend everything is fine and dandy, and you will have your child participate in a sport or be part of a performance. You have children who are talented in a sport, but do not see them participate in games, but sitting on the sideline because the children who are favored are normally the ones who will be performing, praying in class, receiving the awards, etc. etc. Everything here is one sided and no change is a dictatorship on the part of its superintendent. The superintendent is the one who dictates everything to the point that he will participate in the plays of the school, and other school performances.The ambiance of the school staff is artificial and not authentic; artificial smiles, and pretending that a Christ like philosophy is being followed. Not true at all; you teach about God, you also walk the same way without taking sides with students...everyone is treated the same...consistency and no favoritism.

This school does not follow what they teach. The teachers are one sided and have their favorites and the principal and superintendent believe they are above the law. My children are high school students and behind in every subject. This is because they do not hire qualified teachers and they make them teach subjects they no nothing about all due to budget cuts. Yes the school is cheaper then other schools but they will get you every week with a fundraiser, additional sport fees etc. Don't send your child here if you want them to learn!

We love Calvary! Pastor Derek is a wonderful pastor who cares about his church and the school, even when his children did not attend at the time. Each family makes their own personal choice and they chose to homeschool during the early years. Just updating information for people interested :)
