I took my kindergartener out of this school after realizing she was expected to do homework every night and it took a minimum of an hour sitting with her and teaching her to complete it. One day she was home sick and when she returned to school the following day was given a packet of homework of all the work from the day she missed and expected to return it to school after one evening or would face grade deductions. KINDERGARTEN. When I wrote a letter to the teacher explaining that this was not in the best interest of my child’s mental health and we would be completing the work in increments of time to allow for time with family and to not stress my child out so much she shuts down I was basically told “well that’s our policy so she’ll be docked points for each day it’s not returned.” The insane pressure and damage to a 5 year olds self esteem because all they care about is their academic scores was beyond inappropriate and unhealthy. I refused to keep my child in a school that had displayed zero care for her social/mental well being. Save your children from this environment. We need healthy families who spend time together and children who have well rounded life experiences. No kindergarten should be crying at the dinner table over homework. KINDERGARTEN.

I love everything about this school but 1 thing.... the excessive amount of homework that they give the kids. I am talking about ATLEAST 2 hours of DAILY homework Monday to Thursday. My daughter has been here since kindergarten and is now in 4th grade. She does very well in school despite the hours of daily homework. As a parent, I don't want my daughter to only be good in academics. I want to raise a well rounded child. She comes home from school and goes straight to doing MULTIPLE PAGES of homework for Math, History, Science, etc. It is almost impossible to sign up kids to do sports and other extra curricular activities due to the amount of homework they bring home. They also did an extensive project that they had to work on for months called Greenville. How do you expect a 4th grader to put together this project without the parents doing most of the work? I wish the school had realistic expectations on what 4th graders can and cannot do. I believe in creating a good balance between school and home life and this school certainly doesn't support that.

Both my children have attended this school since they were 9 weeks old. The staff is great and the accelerated program is even better.

Green Valley Christian School is a wonderful place for early elementary K-3rd! The academic foundation and Christian Character building couldn’t be better!
However beginning in the 4th grade the academic curriculum takes a huge upward turn that truly separates the kids by their achievement abilities, which goes against the very nature of Christian Character. The exorbitant volume and accelerated pace leaves the majority of kids feeling deflated and inadequate, and is exhausting for parents to help their children keep up!
By the beginning of the last quarter it’s merely an attitude of just turning in the mountain of daily worksheets ‘on-time’, not to ensure the actual understanding of the work.
Example: the in-class reading and comprehension material is clearly labeled ‘7th -8th grade level’, for fourth graders!! Too much for even accelerated learning. This age group (9 & 10 years old) the kids are still goofy and restless, with big energy. Not yet ready for such deep thinking and long time concentration.
I was extremely disappointed and broken hearted on graduation day, as awards were issued to each child, my son was very thoughtlessly given an academic award for History - the ONLY subject he actually failed (ended with a solid F)! Now if that’s not just a slap in the face! A clear statement that the teachers stopped caring when the student started struggling to keep up!
We have since moved out of state, for personal reasons, and now attending another private Christian Academy where my son is at the top of his 5th grade class. Not Because he’s super smart, but because they are actually teaching fifth /six grade level academics and providing plenty of TIME for kids to be kids!!
- Private or public school we as parents have to stay involved to ensure our kids are treated fairly but with no excuses, it’s a fine line sometimes that’s for sure!!

While I love this school, once you get to the higher elementary grades they pile on the work. My child should not cry a few times a week due to the amount of work they put on these kids. Kids should not be up till 9 at night doing homework. The teachers don’t do anything to adjust the workload and do not create a positive learning environment where kids feel comfortable to ask questions. It’s absolutely ridiculous. My child’s mental health suffers at the hands of this school, a Christian School that totes a caring environment. Great school for the much younger population, awful for the older elementary kids. No wonder their enrollment drops for those grades.

Absolutely love this school, we put our first grader in this school after it was announced that public school would be all virtual. We could not be happier with our decision, our child is doing so well, teachers are wonderful, engaged, helpful, and truly want to see their students succeed. We will be keeping both our children (our 1 year old also attends their preschool) at this school throughout their elementary years. Thank you GV Christian!

My son started in August, this school has exceeded my expectations in many ways. His teacher is great at communicating and he really likes her, they do a wide variety of projects to keep the kids interested. There is a lot of homework but the results are clear, Jaymes is already far ahead of his friends who are in public / remote learning schools.

My daughter LOVES GVCS. When I drop her off In the morning she literally jumps out of my arms to go with her preschool teachers. If I had listened to reviews or people and not gave them a try, my child would be missing out on an incredible staff who clearly loves her. Thank you GVCS!

The daycare teachers are amazing! Yes, they do have younger girls in there sometimes, but they also have older ladies in there. Regardless of age I feel they all do a fantastic job.

Terrible experience… I never expected such an experience in the Christian environment. Also need to mention that in addition to the teacher other people (young girls) are taking care of the toddlers I even don't know their names or graduation. This makes me concerned for my sons safety, I have a right to know who is taking care of my child and we had to be informed about this before our son was introduced to your facility. Disorganization...whenever I call nobody is available...except the receptionist who can't help you with your question. Many times tried to get ahold of Nancy Rooper and Ixchell Gonzales...useless. They have poor menu. If your child has an allergy they don't have an option. They don't give you a “daily sheet” of your kid's day even if they promise it in their booklet. I feel cheated after spending so much time and money. The experience is opposite to what they say on their website and in the booklet. I do not recommend this preschool to anybody

My 3 children have been attending GVCS since preschool. The academics are unsurpassed. The teachers truly love their students. I couldn’t imagine my children being anywhere else!

I have only seen one or two instances of this and it seemed to be dealt with effectively. I think how the character of the children is also factored into the program really helps keep the kids in line.

I would like for you to forward this message along the way in hopes that it will inspire the right people to better this situation for all of the students and staff there. I would like to say the school has a great location and had wanted my daughter to attend there all the way though high school. Along the way that shes been there since 1 years old I have notice some issues that I'm no longer willing to condone. She had been sent home on multiple occasions due to behavior, at first being a new parent I tried to see reason in this and it was very frustrating and inconvenient to have to find alternative care when I'm already paying for it. After changing class rooms 3 times to try and find her a better "match" I realized the issue with the daycare/ business wasn't just with the staff it was the structure and management of the school.

I had done some research on sending pre k students home, everything I read clearly stated that there was no benefit to sending them home but that it was more of reward. So in the end it just makes everything worse for everyone, parents having to find alternative care, the costs associated with alternative care and the costs still at GV Christian, and also having the employees to get rid of a "problem child" creates poor work moral.

I believe that better in house training, only hiring (professional) educated staff, and restructuring the "send home" policy to be a little more internal will help with the success of GV Christian School. Teachers handling kids at such a young age I believe it's the responsibility of the teacher to teach rather then sending the kids home. I am not in the business of child care and education however as a parent and entrepreneur this situation has been made very clear to me. Although she has had many great days and much positive reinforcement throughout her time at GV Christian School these issues can not be overlooked. My daughter would still be there if it weren't for these current circumstances.

The administration would sooner kick you out of the school than sit down and talk about any issues you may have. They are very unchristian and most of the administration is related to one another. They also have no accountability for their actions. If allowing kids to play with a teacher's hair and scratch their back as a reward is deemed acceptable behaviour - good luck! Most parents are unaware of this practice and if you bring up your concerns - be prepared to find another school.

I have 2 children attending GVCS and the staff has been exceptionally unprofessional and in most cases, down right rude. I am a single parent and am not able to attend all of the extra-curricular meetings due to my work schedule.

Rather than being understanding, Nancy Roper felt it necessary to shame me for being unable to attend a preview night. Her exact words were " I am sorry that you were not aware that your kindergarten tuition began on June 1st. It was in the financial agreement that you signed. It was also mentioned at the kindergarten preview night, if you attended that. "

I was not under the impression, based on the financial agreement, that kindergarten tuition would be in addition to pre school costs. It was my understanding that the tuition would replace the pre school weekly payments.

Due to the unprofessional attitude and condescending tone from staff, I will be removing my children from this institution.

First let me say the elementary school principal is GREAT. She understands how kids learn, grow and develop. We attended the elementary school for two years before moving to the Jr/Sr High.

The Jr/Sr High principal should NEVER be allowed near children. She has no concept of how kids learn, she has no idea how to be an administrator. She is a dictator who doesn't have a clue what she is doing. Her arbitrary rules and selective reinforcement caused my child so much distress that she began talking of death.

Don't send your middle and senior high schoolers here unless you're fond of cliques, bullying, poor leadership and an environment that sets kids up to have their self esteem crushed!!!

I have 2 children, both who attend GV Christian School. My daughter is in the 3's program with the pre school and my son has attended GV Christian School since he was in the infant room (Cottontails). He is now in 1st Grade and all I need to say is "WOW"! I am so pleased with the performance, knowledge of God, curriculum and behavior in both of them. They have grown and matured so much and every year I see a huge improvement. All of the teachers have always been loving and caring. My son's Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers (and assistants!!) have all exceeded my expectations! Parent communication is amazing, I love receiving pictures emailed to me and occasionally uploaded on the school website. The school also offers many parent involvement activities, an advanced curriculum and compared to public schools, a SMALLER class size. Here, teachers actually get an assistant, where that is not always the case in public school. I recommend GV Christian School to anyone that would love their child to succeed, have a religious background and get a great, advanced education.

My son used to attend GVCS. It was a blessing from Kinder through 5th grade. We then should of left. The leadership, quality and athletics went downhill fast. Luckily we left in 7th grade with 25% of the class as well and found a new home for our. He is playing sports now, has a lunch room to eat everyday hot meals and the administration is kind and warm, and doesn't even need me to pay them for that.

Green Valley Christian School is living up to its excellent reputation. My son started second grade here this year, and I cannot believe the consistency, academic expectancy, and values that are being taught. He is being challenged- finally.

Great value for a great education. We have been there for 3 years and she is at a grade above reading and math. You will have homework and a longer day ( but that is it use to be going to school from 8-3 not 9-1) they are adding more to the school. I am hoping the middle school adds more sports and gym. They need that badly. Also the teachers are great and always available. The principal and vice principal are always outside greeting parents and kids.

Very dis-satified with the education and security at this school! I had my daughter enrolled in an after hour class and another parent was permitted to take my daughter from this class and leave the school grounds without my permission. No one at the front desk asked for a note nor checked the list of possible adults allowed to pick-up my child. The parent did return to the school with my child unharmed but I was scared to death! And, the school failed to accept any blame for the ordeal! If you are considering enrolling your child and would reconsider it. I should have.

When choosing a school for my daughter I had several things I wanted for my child. First and foremost, I wanted a great education without going bankrupt. Secondly, as a single mother relying on " before and after school care", the school needed to be a place I felt my daughter would be safe and enjoy ( for 9+ hours/day ). The safe key staff is uncomparable!!! They take care of these children, play with them, teach them, mentor them, and love them! The teachers, TA's are approachable, answer questions, and truly care about your child.This school offers specials such as: art, computer, music, and PE. There are also a lot of field trips which are great - it gives the parent an opportunity to meet other parents, classmates, and teachers while learning. The Principal and Vice Principal are very involved in the school. They know each child by name (not just a few...all of them), they know the parents. Every morning both are outside greeting the parents, and children with a friendly smile. Green Valley Christian School has proven to be the BEST choice for us. I would highly recommend it. The personal attention and family atmosphere while getting a superior education is PRICELESS!

This school appears to be overcrowded. There is a TA but this does not make up for the large class sizes. Comparable to public school. No good sports opportunities. Has religion but we need more than this to succeed.

I agree. I have one in K and one in 1st grade. The pre k and k teachers are very loving but this does not make up for the outrageous class sizes. Unless your kids are all academic then there is really nothing else as sports are not important here. There are some very comperable public schools out there that you dont have to pay for.

From the moment my husband and I walked into the school, we knew this is exactly where our daughter needed to be. From the principal to the teachers and staff all I have to say is well done! Yes, tuition is kind of pricy, but for my daughter to be coming home everyday after school so excited to be going back, it is well worth it. Everyone there always greets each parent. I would highly recommend this school. Take a free tour of the school, you will LOVE IT! The part I LOVE the most as well, is they welcome parents to be involved and interact with your child! What schools allows that?

My daughter used to attend GVCS, and we were happy while she was there. Due to the economy I had to change schools. It was then that I found my child who was getting A's and B's in all subjects was 6 months to a year BEHIND in all subjects. It was very dissappointing to say the least. I had to hire an outside tutor to bring her up to grade level. After payings as much as I did, expecting her to be above grade level as advertised, this was overly annoying. All the teachers that we had were amazing, but even with the TAs in the classroom I think they are overwhelmed with class size.

My daughter has attended GV Christian School since she was 5 years old and is still attending in the Prep/High School! This school has more than lived up to what I expected when we first came here 10 years ago. The school has poured love and knowledge into her since the first day she arrived. I am so thankful for a school that not only gives her the best education in the city, but also builds her up daily with guidance & has shaped her into the young Godly woman that she is today.

My kids have been coming here since they were 6 weeks old. One thing I can tell you about this school is how much the staff love my kids. They show it everyday. Also the academic level of learning is insane. My daughter who was still in Pre-K already is reading. I know in Public School they start with shapes and colors in Pre k. My daughter learned that about a year ago. My oldest daughter in first grade is doing the same curriculum as her friend who is in 3rd grade Public School!!!! This school blows me away.

It saddens me to give the prep school a below average score. This was not the experience we were sold on in the beginning. We knew the facilities were below average. We knew there were no actual sports facilities. We knew there would be 30 kids to a class. Yet we knew they had the highest test scores averages from the children so that must mean something. As for a sports program they did not even offer basketball in 2012 fall. 30 kids in a class was supposed to be offset by a teacher's aid. I would expect something more than someone who just sits in the corner and grades papers. As for test scores. When the class does not do well It is amazing how many chances they get to bring their grades up to an 'a'. I love the honor roll but does that mean they are getting a better education? I love the teachers but the administrative staff is the worst I have seen. I feel lucky there are other options in Christian Schools. I will not be returning next year.

My children have been attending GVCS for over 5 years and LOVE going to school. The teachers are Christians and enhance the biblcal teaching taught from home. This is a partnership with the teachers and parents to develop strong Christian character as well as provide an excellent education to our kids. We may not have a huge sports program or cafeteria yet, but we do have huge LOVE for Jesus -which is the most important treasure in life.

My two daughters have been attending the school since pre-k, one is going to 4th grade and the other one to first grade. Unless moving out of the state they won't go to an other school. The academic level is intense as well as the work we are providing at home to maintain a high level in their education. The pair teacher and TA are most of the time made to perfection. I have been blessed year after with excellent teachers. This school is making our kids better individuals, that are tought outside their home to be kind, respectful and generous... I consider the school as our second home, communication is easy with teachers, principal or vice principal, without forgetting the ladies at the front desk that are the best. On my free time I volunteer at school helping in classrooms and I know for fact it is the best compared to overrated private school. This is true that the school raised their activity fees, but also they never raised the tuition since we got into the school, and it is nice to know we will have a music class when everybody in public are cutting those classes. Love love the school

Deceiving is what this school is, it presents itself as a caring, christian school and when you get in it it proves to be something else. There are a few teachers who really want the best but the overall thing at this school is how they can get more money out of you. Registration fees go up and once you are enrolled in a school there is no reason you should pay a full registration fee every year (at least cut it in half). the ratio of kids in a class is ridiculous but they don't care that's more money for them. sad but true......they stay under the radar with the christian school logo. but after getting into it you are robbed. Not worth all that money. I really would like to give no stars to GVC

My son has attended GVCC for 3 years now and we could not be happier. Every teacher he has had was FABULOUS. We've even had to make a couple of trips to the principles office, the administration wanted nothing but the best for my child. My son had thrived at this school. Academically they cannot compare to any public school. I have relatives in TX that have to pay twice what we pay for a private Christian school. We don't intend to ever leave!!!

You cant conpare the class size at GVCS to public school. These kids take an enterance exam to ensure they are on grade level. So your child may have a large class size, but the teacher is not trying to accommodate kids 3 years below grade level, Kids that do not know English, and kids with special needs. There are always two teachers. I like the fact that if there are real world problems they can pray and speak freely about God. The academic rigor is intense, so if your child is coming from public school they will definitely go through a huge adjustment period. Homework and tests are intense even for a 2nd and 3rd grade student. Kids can't enter kinder without an enterance exam as well. I think they have sone kinks to work out, but this school tops any public school by far!

unfortunately, I have to say that my daughter who is in the 4th grade, will not be attending gvc next year. They have increased their fees and they don't offer much Their so called sports program, are nonexistant, no lunchroom. The upper administration will walk by you and not even speak, they try and squeeze evey little penny they can get. For the money we pay they lack a whoooooole lot.

A Warning To Other Parents - My child has gone to GVCS for many years. During the past 2 years the school has spiraled downward. It has become difficult to trust that the senior administrative staff has the best interest of our children in mind. More focus is placed on funds, rather than God or education. If a parent dare tries to attempt to bring a problem to someone's attention they become shunned and ostracized as being negative. As my child is receiving a quality scholastic education in no way is he being prepared to serve as a better Christian or person in life. It saddens me that after 5 years we will be leaving this school.
