One time I got in a fight because this one kid kept bullying me for a whole quarter and kept threatening to fight and it just got annoying. He splashed some juice on me and I blocked it with my hand and tried to turn it at him and then he got mad and was threatening to fight and since he was just so annoying I gave in. But I didn't really fight, all I did was flip him over on the ground and weakly stepped on him so that he didn't try to fight me, a teacher saw this and took us to the office where he said "This guy was repeatedly stomping on this kids head, I'ma take him to the nurse" before I even got a single word out and then the staff wouldn't listen to my side of the story and just gave me in-house for the day and (once again, without listening to my side of the story) suspended me for 2.5 weeks, charged me with battery and assault, and filed the fight as a racially motivated fight JUST BECAUSE I'm white and he isn't. Once I returned I asked my Algebra 1 teacher for help on understanding all the stuff that I missed and she flat out rejected just because "that was two weeks ago" and she just told me to watch the Khan Academy videos which not only took just as long to watch as the amount of time I stayed after school, meaning she could've just explained it, but the videos didn't help at all. Another thing, my English teacher couldn't teach the class if her life depended on it, she would somewhat try teaching the class but gave up when the other kids kept talking, and she never, EVER, even tried telling the class to be quiet. Also in my reading class while I was talking to my friend, we would joke around like normal and say rude things in a joking manner and she thought that I was bullying him (keep in mind this was the guy I hung out with everyday) and instead of saying something like "that's very rude to say, don't let it happen again or you're going to the office" she started being rude to me and yelled at me something like "NEVER SAY THAT IN MY CLASS" almost as if I just said 10 different slurs. Also there were constant fights throughout my time there, at some point after school, I was walking to my bus and saw an 8th grade girl yelling cuss words while being restrained by 3 cops. I would not recommend going to this school at all.

My son was bullied, and we reported to the counselor who helped to change the schedule immediately.
Last week the school called that the school took care of my son from a bully, and I really appreciated it. The school has handled everything before I knew. I am proud of my son to report the bully because he trusts the school where theres a lot of help and love as always. Millions of thanks to you all, Mr.Meyer, Mr.Pia and Mr.Frieberg.

My daughter went to this school and got bullied every single and the teachers never did anything about it besides laugh in her face. She said that this was the worst possible school for anyone to have to go to. I don't recommend to anyone, unless you want to hate middle school. I hope everyone that goes there currently is having a better time then my daughter did.

Lawrence Junior High School is a "good" school. However, there are aspects that can be improved. I am a student who comes from another country. And although the United States has a better economy and resources than my country. This school is under my expectations. A school lunch should have fruits/vegetables, milk, grains, meat/alternatives and other things. This school offers us pizza every day. Some foods are very cold and have ice. The bread is like stone. Not to mention the rice, it tastes like flour and is very viscose.
Regarding education, the topics are very basic and some students have to delay their performance so that other people can understand. Whenever we do some work there are students who only copy what others do. About bullying, there are a lot of fights, and the teachers care more about the dress code than two students fighting.

Im currently in Lawrence and the experience here is kinda simple, the school has a couple downs to it like having multiple fights on campus, some fights even included the cops and the food is kinda nasty except the snack bar. The teachers were ok but some of them kinda sucked ngl. The school is bad at handling bullying, my friend was getting bullied and they did nothing about it.

My experience at this school is pretty good. I am currently a 7th grader taking all accelerated class and I will be taking Algebra I as an 8th grader and I play 2 sports and I am in NJHS. This school is pretty decent, it is very clean and the teachers are very helpful. I would recommend this school.

My experience was below par. I have only been to one middle school throughout my academic career, but i could not have imagined high school would be so mich better compared to lawrence. There were constantly fights, lunch was overpacked with tons of students not even having seats, and an abundance of rats on campus

Homework was assigned as a measure to keep teachers putting grades into a gradebook rather than to help students practice

No, the Dean called my Grand Daughter in over a head band. No explanation to the parents as to why a headband to hold her hair back was a safety hazard.
Posted: August 17, 2019
Not impressed. This is why the Deans shoutd have been replaced instead of taking money from each child.
Posted: August 17, 2019
The deans should have all been replaced if all they have to do during the day is compare headband widths for 11 year old girls.
Posted: August 17, 2019
Posted: August 17, 2019
They are more worried about a 3 inch headband,
Posted: August 17, 2019
Money should go back to the students, if this what the deans are for,

I have been pleased with my child's teacher's and principal Mrs. Smothers until Mrs. Sheen became the dean. It's as if she is running the school. She has been very unfair with the progressive discipline policy which totally takes away from a positive school culture that this school once had. Sheen seems to RPC students for any reason, not properly investigating and taking the time to get to know the student's other side of the story. An example of this is, Mrs. Sheen sent my child home and RPCed her before the investigation was even made. Students are just labeled as bad or difficult, even students that have had a history of being academically strong and well behaved. My child is academically strong and for the most part is a well behaved. She definitely does not fall into the bad category. My child hates to go to school and does not feel accepted or fairly treated due to a few misunderstandings that have taken place in the classroom where new teachers have not yet mastered their classroom structure. Mrs. Sheen does not foster my child's learning style. This has turned out to be the worst school year for both my child and family.

The teachers teach what they have to in a good way. They don't just give you a textbook and say read it, if you need help you with receive it.

I was in advanced classes, just so you can know. I felt that if the homework was spaces out for classes it would be better. It seemed like we wouldn't have much homework for a week or two then all my classes would give us homework and then no homework, and so on.

I didn't want to go to this school, but I kept an open mind about it when I started. I was right to not want to attend here, the staff, all but teachers, were very rude. The rules here are ridiculous, there is a no touch policy, seems okay right, it isn't we aren't allowed to even shake hands, you get detention if you do. This is crazy, hand shakes are something you do when you speak with someone, it shows respect, it's a proper way to introduce yourself, yet if you shook a fellow students hand, you get detention. I personally kept to myself most the time, I'm the type of person who would just sit and watch everything, so I saw all the drama, which there's quite a bit of. I didn't give a 1 star because they handled bullying or threats quickly. You could go and get a sheet to fill out, then turn it in and the isusse would get solved. Most teachers are understanding and care. One of the science teachers for 8th grade was spectacular, he was a bit tough, and seems scary and rude, but he was great, I loved his class it was amazing, I wish I could have him again. There are many clubs that you could join. Overall my time here was bad, if you have a choice, don't go there.

I just graduated from Lawrence, and the highlight of my 3 years were definitely all my teachers (especially the science department!) The teachers at this school really inspired me and provided me with everything I needed to exceed the standardized testing standards. HOWEVER, there is something to be said about the administration of the school. The dean I had for 3 years suddenly left, and was replaced. We now have 2 new deans who the teachers dislike. There have been DRASTIC changes in policy, in effort to "control" kids. They tried and failed to implement a new dress code policy which required students to wear lanyards with IDs, and they also try and fail to give everyone EQUAL consequences for EQUAL actions. A typical delinquent is given more lenient consequences because they "always behave that way", but a minor slip-up by a straight A student is seen to with higher consequences. The administration is also very disorganized, giving NJHS and Student Council sometimes just a day's notice to have to change their plans.

This school is awesome. I'm a student here, and I love it here. Though there is constant fights between mostly boys, you should always avoid having fake friends. But otherwise, I once had an F in ELA, but it quickly rose up to a B, and I am very happy here. Every teacher cares for me, and I love it.

Worst middle school in the history of las vegas! I feel sorry if you're zoned for this school. Fights, Favoritism, & Ignorance happen in this school. Administration is WAY too strict with their so called "rules". (Which make absolutely no sense) The teachers view almost all students as some sort of delinquents. As for the others, they're favorited. Students are more concerned with their social lives than with actual education. There is also no REAL encouragement to learn/ They just say their plans and what not but don't actually do anything about it. Worst school ever, do not go here.

Lawrence Junior High School is horrible. I was in 8th grade and I was a new student here a couple months ago and I was being ignored by EVERYONE. They just all stared at me like I was some dog, ignoring me, watching me struggle. Don't get me started about orchestra. THERE'S NO FRIENDS THERE! The section leaders are completely rude to us back here. There's only asian cliques and the geeky cliques. I've never felt so left out at a school. WORST SCHOOL. I DON'T RECOMMEND!!!!!

They told us that this was a good school, but I think it's better than that. Mu family is very happy and confident.

Lawrence is the BEST middle school in Las Vegas. Great learning environment and the teachers care about the students! Especially the science department!! If your child is zoned for Lawrence, you should be truly thankful!

I start at this school as a 6th grader tomorrow , the 27th of August . I think that what I have seen so far is just amazing ! All the people who say the dean Mr.Lediard , just haven't been compatible with him . He is a very compatible and caring dean . I myself have never seen a teacher/dean work so hard for his students . The principal Mrs.Smothers is a very nice principal who I hope to see every day . Thank you for reading <3 Don't forget that Lawrence Junior High School is a four out of five star school and I highly recommend it to all students !

The problem with this school is there DEAN. He is very unprofessional & extremely rude. I was there to pick up my son & the dean went to my sons class & escorted him to the bus, knowing I was there to pick him up. I hope he gets fired.
