I have had four children graduate from Foothill, have a current ninth grader, and another child in 6th grade at a feeder school. Regardless of their varied interests (from theater to student council to Advanced Placement courses to foreign languages to sports), Foothill has provided challenging and supportive opportunities aligned with my children's skills and future goals. They were taught by talented and invested teachers who have created a community of continued learning. As a parent, I was kept informed of and invited to events to provide support for my children and express my opinions.

Foothill is more than a high school. As part of the One Hill community in Henderson, there is a seamless K-12 experience. Parents are involved. The teachers are friendly and responsive. Social Emotional support is strong and much appreciated. The band program is outstanding. Both of my kids participate. They have definitely benefited from the Foothill HS experience.

I love foothill it gives a great time in highschool the students are all kind funny helpful and just friendly. I love the speech and debate time every kid and I am not saying every lightly every,Every kid on the team is great, smart, has talent and are just good and kind humans. They have a family like team where no one is left to be by them self everyone knows each other and likes each other the people you would want to hangout with are 100% in that speech and debate room. The teacher is very helpful and helps students get better at there craft and is a very funny and smart person. He shows everyone how to do it and how to do it well has foothill kids place highly in the speech and debate world. To end this up foothill is a great place where kids learn make friends and just overall have a great time I can't wait to go to school everyday I wake up and when there is no school I am out doing stuff with people from school.

Foothill is a pretty good school considering that it is in CCSD. We have a ton of different AP and Dual Credit classes as well as many electives, clubs, and sports teams to get involved in. The school spirit is pretty good, and the kids are pretty nice. The class sizes are generally pretty small, and even though we have 1 lunch for everyone, it never seems overly crowded. The music program teachers are a bit short with their students, and I will be quitting mine next year, but I am in speech and debate and it is great and I would recommend it to anyone as you learn many important life skills, and the team culture is on point. We definitely have a sense of community at this school, which is nice to see in a high school. My number one complaint is that the school, particularly the bathrooms are very dirty and you constantly feel like you will be sick due to the sheer amount of germs, in fact I found myself taking immune boost everyday to avoid this. This is no one's fault, just something that needs to be worked on. Learning wise it is not great, I came from a very competitive and academically rigorous middle school, Bob Miller, so some of the work at Foothill almost felt like busy work. They make it pretty easy to get good grades tho. The administration seems good and I would overall recommend it.

My daughter excelled academically at this school. She even won a national award her junior year. This happened because of the amazing dual credit and AP courses offered at Foothill. Her teachers were great and my daughter got a full ride to USU after attending Foothill.

I was a new student here for my sophomore year all I have to say is this school is absolutely terrible.
First of all, the sports programs are really unfair and unprofessional towards new students. I tried out for JV cheer because its a sport I'm really good at and enjoy doing but for some reason, the coaches did not give me a spot on the team especially when they had a lot of open spots for JV cheer. This would not make any sense for me because I have all the skills required to be in JV cheer, I show good school performance and my GPA was above their requirements. When me or my parents tried reaching out to the cheer coaches about the unfair tryout, we got completely ignored, no response back from the coaches via email, this is very unprofessional. So if youre a new student going here, really experienced in a sport just know the sports programs are completely unfair, unprofessional and unwilling to take new students on a team due to favoritism.
Second of all, the school teachers are completely disrespectful and unwilling to help students. Specifically one of the geometry teachers. I was a student in a geometry class and the teacher teaching geometry was good with teaching the subject, but when it comes to class work and students need help, you either get an attitude from the teacher for asking for assistance, or the teacher is too busy playing games on their phone with their favorite students, ignoring everyone in the classroom that needs help. Honestly, I wouldve gotten a better grade for that subject if the teacher would be more helpful and there for their students because it seemed like they did not care about their job as a teacher who is supposed to help students. Also really unprofessional.
And third of all, the staff is the worst with preventing bullying and protecting students from harassment towards other students. If students are being openly harassed or threatened the staff completely ignore the complaints from that student. So obviously, bullying and harassment is a huge problem at this school.
I do not recommend enrolling for this school as the programs and sports are really horrible and the school in general is horrible.

Ironically this school has the 2nd highest standardized test scores in Henderson but you would never know it from this site. Most people do not know realize this, even people that should know better like real estate agents don't realize that Foothills has the second highest standarized test scores in the city. You can find them independently by searching online if you try. There is a similar website that does list test scores, but I probably am not allowed to mention it here. If you are a person like me that prefers more objective data please look for the test scores for each school. The information you get from here is subjective. The only people bothering to post are either extremely positive or extremely negative.

I have two students who attended Foothill and I have been very impressed by their experiences and academics. The teachers and administration have been dedicated to helping each student. The new UNR college credit program has been extremely beneficial to my student heading to college with a head start. The students and parents are supportive of each other and there is a tight OneHill and PTO community so you can get involved as a parent if you want to. The marching band and other performing arts programs are the best in the state and the sports are awesome. There is nothing like a Friday night football game and you'll see the community really shine. Foothill is a hidden gem in CCSD.

Well my first year was pretty wild. I had a lot of fun, except in art which i frequently didn't go to because the classroom was a lot to handle. Which brings me to accommodations, i have autism and struggle in loud spaces but wasn't allowed to wear headphones to help. I remember multiple times where i had to run to the bathroom to get away from class when it was too much. but i love this school so much even when it was rough like in video production when i was working on my movie with my group. we had to stop working a few times because of them being mean towards me. it got so bad i almost dropped the class. also i am bisexual i dont often say it out loud or anything but im a girl who dresses in alternative fashion so people assume. i have been called slurs sometimes and one of the girls on student council this year is homophobic (i asked her to a dance in 6th, she told my whole choir class and they avoided me for the rest of the year)

I only spent one year at this school as a student (freshman). I had the worst and best experiences there. I was just a loser who got pushed around a lot and got stuff thrown at them. Teachers couldn't do anything about it, and I couldn't point out anybody there who'd constantly harass and throw things at me whenever they felt like it which is partially my fault for not being able to identify anybody because I was completely new to the school. Though, I know there are people who are able to fit in, unlike me so your experiences as a student there might just be better than mine since I didn't even speak at all. I was just a shy little quiet Asian girl trying to get to their classes, hanging by a thread. To me, the school was quite a bore. I didn't feel welcome at the school at all and the spirit there sucks. There are fights that go around and about too. But, the teachers there are quite cool and chill there as long as you don't make them mad. Overall to me, the school was quite a bore and I'm glad I moved and transferred to a new school.

The music programs at Foothill are very well taught. Everyone loves the music teachers. Principal Synold is the kindest principal the school has had. The staff cares about students and class attendance. Lonely students have friends and many clubs that are available to join. The rules are enforced, and the overall school life is enjoyable.

To be honest, this school is just terrible. I was told by a teacher to review this school on this site honestly (which i definitely am). The reasoning on why they want us to review the school was because the old reviews were outdated supposedly. But honestly the old reviews are very accurate and resemble what the school is like now almost perfectly. The teachers in this school are okay for the most part. However some of them seem to legitimately despise their job. I had this teacher who came back after missing most of the 2nd quarter of the year, just to (basically) hit student(s) and be gone for the rest of 2nd quarter. the education is really slow here. You'll spend up to 1 week on a math topic unless you're in accelerated (i don't know much about accelerated classes). English classes really don't teach you at all, they make you read boring things and have very strict due dates on assignments on big readings. I'm almost halfway done with quarter 3 in English and I've only learned about Ethos, Pathos, and Logos, because everything else we've done has been tedious reading work. The homework in this school is okay, and that's really all i can say about homework, because there isn't much of it, and it doesn't do much for practice. Bullying is a really big thing in this school. Most kids are in toxic friendships, and bullying spreads like a disease here. Fights happen way too much (usually the kids in these fights come out of them okay though). There's an entire Instagram account about the school, and about what goes on there (i cannot recall the name of it). Bullying has gotten so bad there are police officers on campus. The school clearly doesn't care about its character. Nobody cares if students just get up and leave classes. And the kids can disrespect teachers with no repercussions. Overall, this school is definitely not the place to learn. The only fun I find at this school is going to math class, because the teacher I got for math is actually good at his job.

I am a student, and it is mediocre. Fights are pretty often, teachers are alright but if there is complaints the school won't do much about them. Few good things and a few bad things. The science teachers are all mediocre teachers. English are all alright, but show what they believe in and it really shows. Meh school.

Foothill used to be tolerable, fun, safe and intelligent environment. It is no longer that way. Due to the pandemic and the previous school year being completely online, the majority of the students (Freshman, Sophomore, and some Juniors), and some of the teachers, do not care about this school. There are numerous fights between students (and some appear on the news) there are kids vaping and getting high in the bathroom, there are students who are not mentally healthy and the school does nothing to help. At the football games there is almost ALWAYS a fight. There are two restrooms open currently because the other ones were vandalized and defaced, so the only two restrooms are rundown and disgusting. A month or two ago, students were evacuated across the street because there was a bomb threat against the school. The worst thing is that there is a shortage of teachers, the good ones are leaving, and the bad teachers dont care about teaching the students. The point is that things have declined in the past few years at Foothill. I used to love coming to school to talk to friends, gain knowledge, and get prepared to go to college, but now, in my Senior year here, I view school as something to ¨get through¨ to get to college. I know that Foothill is in a part of Henderson that is a nice part of town, but there are much better, and safer high schools to have your children attend, namely Nevada State High School, Green Valley or Coronado.

Only music department teachers are compassionate with exceptions from a few others. Most teachers, however, don't teach the kids how to learn, they give something for them to memorize, and they never learn, only memorize.
Posted: September 8, 2017
Everyone doesn't really care about school, just " coast and get out" kind of deal. Try to enforce no plagiarism with programs, don't know if it helped. Not a lot of students are respectful and don't realize that teachers are people. When the school got a new principal about 75% booed them at the orientation, causeing the principal to allegedly cry under the bleachers.
Posted: September 8, 2017
Constant fights and no one cared about another, if they did though, school delt with it.
Posted: September 8, 2017
Constant fights, were even in the news for it. Kids doing drugs in gym always, lots of dealers on campus.
Only supportive teachers are in the music department with the exception of a few others.
Posted: September 8, 2017
Gives way too much for some classes( leaves kids with mental breakdown) or they don't give any to help kids learn, mostly busy work that doesn't have to do anything with the topic being learned.

The only good thing about this school is its band department. Dr. Snavelly and Mr. Pardee are amazing and that's about it for Foothill. Best band teachers I've ever come across besides Mr. Zack Williams from Becker M.S, Mr. Jeff Williams from Bob Miller M.S, and Mr. Jeff McCracken from Coronado.

Posted: May 12, 2017
Most teachers are, but not all of them. He has had one this year, his senior year, who has been out for most of the year. The class has been basically run by rotating substitute teachers.

Worst school! I had to move out of there! I was failing one class (at least) per semester! The so called "teachers" don't actually teach. The students are all bullies. There is a huge bully problem there.
Posted: December 4, 2014
The majority of the teachers would rather sleep than teach the students. The lunch lines are ridiculous and everyone there is egotistical and selfish. The staff and the students have no problem slinging insults and badgering the parents and the students for pretty much anything. The band Directors are possibly the most self-centered jerks at the school they have no desire to help the students get better, They will tell the staff lies to make themselves look better and they have absolutely no respect for the parents and the students. From Freshman year to Graduation the school will look for anyway possible way to screw you in the end. I had a 3.3 unweighted GPA heading into senior year and ended with a 3.1.The counselors keep 0 track of anything including your grades, I took AP Calculus and the school took that away from me just because they lost the file even though I got a 4 on the AP test! Completely cheated me out of getting the advanced honors diploma. Under notes to what the staff says drugs are a huge problem at foothill, lot's of students bring all kinds of drugs on campus and the staff never says a word. SO HAPPY I'm out of that place and in college :D Worst school ever!

Foothill is probably the very best school in the Clark County School District for minority and special needs kids. Teaching quality and experience is better than most and my experience has put me on the path to college. They have a bunch of programs that give you both high school AND college credit!!! (Mr. V is the BEST@!)
