Ok starting off the school is a very good place for kids to learn. If you look at their YouTube channel which is called "Cashman Cougar News Network"
the kids look proud and they look like they really are learning they are clearly having fun which is another way of learning I would reccommend this school for parents who are looking for school for their child to go!

Seems to me the principal at this school needs to be investigate, as she is not caring for the students or staff. English dept and math dept are leaving this school. where is the dept. of education here??

My son was very excited to be apart of the Magnet program. Upon entering this school it became rapidly evident that the administration at James Cashman Middle School is either wildly out of their depth or truly do not care about students well being or education. Within the first day at this school there were several fights that broke out. My son was assaulted while in P.E. and the school didn't even notify us. We reached out to our son via his cell phone after his 5th period teacher marked him absent from class and thats when we found out that he had been attacked. The schools response was that they didn't know that their staff had not reached out and that the woman who was in the front office was new and had only been there for 2 days. The next day my son was suspended and they stated it was because he was in a fight. We became aware of this when the administration had him call us on his phone because they are apparently untrained and didn't think that they should contact us. It was at this time we became aware of several Instagram pages with the name Cashman Cringe existed and that the administration has done nothing in trying to stop or prevent these fights. We found a video that was filmed by students of my son being attacked on one of the Cashman Cringe pages while in class with no teacher seemingly present and forwarded it to the school for response. NOBODY from the school or CCSD has responded or acknowledged the email sent. It is clear that this school has a bullying issue that the staff and faculty have done nothing to prevent. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT enroll your child at this nightmare of a school if you care about their wellbeing.

This school lacks for the most part teacher and staff oversight. Control and fails at leadership. There are so many misbehaved kids that disrupt the remaining good kids. That there are times the good kids have to use self defense because there is no staff around or the staff is clueless when bullying and harassment is happening. My son just got trespassed from school for defending himself because there was no staff to protect all the kids that were getting assaulted by a bad student. These teachers walk or should I say strutt around making sure everyone knows they're titles. Ego ego ego. We must remind these schools the school school staff are trusted servants and they are charged also to teach but to protect our kids. I would say Mrs Green is an awesome music teacher. My son being in chamber just loves her.

all i have to say is this school is terrible the teachers are cussing and telling students to shut up they have anger issues 8 fights happen 4 weeks into the school year.all i have to say is this school is a nightmare DO NOT COME TO JAMES CASHMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!! #you have been warned#

This school is a nightmare. Reminds me of an asylum or penitentiary, lots and lots very bad kids with zero parental upbringing. I might add, most of the teachers are about the same. They have magnet teachers that should not be magnet teachers. Zero leadership, zero values. Just an absolute nightmare. We have found an advocate at the school. But do not decieve yourself thinking this school will advocate for your children. Its almost like this school has declared war on the children.

As a student at this school i would not recommend going to this school. First off all the bullying by students is terrible, you always see crowds rushing down the hallways to see a fight, or your getting bullied by some cowards, And the teachers don't do anything. Some of the teacher that I have overwhelm me with assignments. Others can't teach, some assign TEST over the weekends. And over all just don't go here, you won't be happy here.

They cant even get their act together when it comes to hosting a sporting event. A team traveled to their school to play soccer and they didnt even have their goals set up or the field prepared yet according to the coach it wasnt her fault. They had to forfeit and wasted kids, coaches, referees, and parents time. Very unprofessional

My son has been constantly bullied and his friends tried to help by reporting bulling, but that did nothing, there was no one there to stand up to the kid who was bullying him, and staff did absolutely nothing.

Bullying is a severe problem and can lead to depression and other negative things, but reporting a student for bullying is not effective, and needs to be fixed.

I have had nothing but issues with this school. I get the run around from administration. Most the teachers seem to be very good but others are mean to kids and its allowed. Administration is very unprofessional as they do not follow up with issues with their staff. They are basically just there for a paycheck and do not have any concern for the kids.

A teacher forced my son off campus when he was supposed to wait for me to pick him up because I was running late. I talked to the Assistant Principal and he agreed the teacher was wrong as my son could have got lost, abducted, assaulted, hit by a car etc. and advised me he would follow up with the teacher. This never happened and when I asked for the other assistant principal's email so I can try to resolve this he told me he did not know it and to look it up. Very unprofessional.

I have emailed and called the principal regarding some issues I have with staff and have never received a response. I will go there in person an attempt to resolve issues with staff so they can stop avoiding me.

James Cashman MS just had a massive staff turnover 2014. Some of most beloved teachers and staff (30 plus) are gone due to the displeasure of administration policy by its current principle. Its is very sad that such fine school with good magnet program is taking a nose dive under tight fist principle. I know, I was there for all 3 years as parent of a magnet student with 3.95 GPA.

This school is one of the worst places to put your kid. I attended this school 6th and 7th grade only about 4 years ago and i was stabbed, jumped, numerous of times. The disciplinary act for this actions is not severe at all and kids are getting away with this typer of behavior. I want to post this review to tell all who think about attending this school SHOULD DEFINITELY NOT ATTEND and think of a better public school to go to. The magnet program just brings kids in early and then mixes them with kids who live around the area who don't quite set a great examples. I've had many great friends who have changed dramatically because of this school and i beg all of the parents to pull or not attend this school.

My school is very strict and there are lots of bullies and fightings. The area is very bad and there are lots of cars upon the streets and only about 2 police guiding around.

Nevada's education system was just recently ranked 50th in the U.S yet Cashman has brought in a new vice principle who has a mind set that the teachers can do no wrong even when the teachers are clearly at fault, and feels that it is the student that need to be held acountable. A good portion of the magnet staff at Cashman are far from professional and the students pay the price. I was told by other parents not to try and inrole my son in the magnet program at Cashman but I did not listen, next year we will apply for the magnet program at Hyde Park ( academically a much better school ). A good school can offer the same excelerated curriculems, don't put to much stock in the term magnet program.
