"From the warm welcome at drop-off to the thoughtful communication from teachers, everything about this school is top-notch. My son has made fantastic friends and loves going to school each morning. The focus on both academic growth and character development is impressive. We couldn't be happier!"

This is a fantastic school. My child has attended this school from preschool through 1st grade. She tests above grade level and I attribute that to this schools strong focus on education, without relying on lots of homework and busy work. They truly care about the kids at the school and strive to instill core values and a strong work ethic, as well as a great educational foundation.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because there have been quite a few times that announcements sent home and their FB posts have misspelled/misused words (I.e. to when it should have been two). Normally that wouldnt bother me; however, since I read these with my daughter and it being from her school, I cringe when I see it and then ask her to spot the error so she wont repeat it. The fact a first grader can spot the error and whoever is writing a short notice or FB post cant, is a bit unsettling. I understand the school employees are busy, but seeing as spelling is one of the things kids are supposed to be learning in elementary school, Id feel more comfortable if the school made that more of a priority for their employees and not just students. If she attends next year, maybe Ill turn it into a game and pay her for every misspelled word she spots on school notices lol

Kay Carl is hands down the best elementary school any of my kids have ever been to. Principal Brenda Swann is absolutely incredible, the teachers are great, there is an abundance of opportunities for family involvement, awesome student support and tons of extra curricular activities!
Our children are motivated and excited to go to school every day!

The school does not provide regular homework which was an adjustment for us. BUT the curriculam is very project heavy so our student often has projects and or classwork to work on at home every week.

There are several themes throughout the school that all students participate in. The current theme is The 7 habits of highly effective people. As a school they discuss each habit and have activities surrounding the principals.

The principal is Awesome, very personable and involved. When we visited the school for the first time she personally gave us a 1 hour tour! It was wonderful.

Don't judge this school by the test scores/rating! The administration is fairly new (3 years) and compassionate about reinventing

When my child had an issue with another child, not only did Mrs. Lunder address the issue, she took the approach of having my child use it as an opportunity to speak up to the person.
It was an beneficial lesson that illustrates the extra effort, I assume, that the school encourages.

This is my daughters second year in this school and I could not be more pleased with our experience at the school. Her first grade teacher and now her second grade teacher were/are super involved with students and parents, which I appreciate. I am able to talk to them about my child when I feel like I need to and not feel like I need an appointment. Mrs. Swan is really involved with the school and does not just hang out in her office out of sight. Whether I am dropping my daughter off in the morning, going into the office, there for an even, or picking up my child, more than likely I am going to see Mrs. Swann. Every time I see her she greets you in the friendliest way. The school puts on a ton of activities throughout the year and encourages families to come to get to know one another! There are a ton of after school activities to have your children involved in which is always fun for kids. I have had all positive experiences with the school.

KCES is a great school that encourages positive growth and provides students with learning opportunities that you would only expect in a private school. The staff, teachers and administration are personally vested in the kids success and it's an amazing sight to see considering the hurdles this school has had to overcome. If more schools followed their lead, it would make a great difference in our community and our children.

Kay Carl is a great school filled with staff willing to put in the extra effort to help out their students. The principal, Mrs. Swann, is always there, is very closely involved with the students and knows the children by name. She plays games at lunchtime, helps out all over the school and doesn't hide in her office to only make sporadic appearances at assemblies and large functions. The front office staff, Ms. Nyesha, Ms. Elaine and the other ladies are always friendly and helpful and are great and fielding a variety of questions they get asked and the kids love them. The teachers are amazing, they work together as a team to do what is best for students and will help out with children that aren't even in their class. For years, Ms. Bartlotta has stopped my kids in the hall to ask them what book they are reading and encourage them to come check out a book from her classroom library and none of them have ever been her student. These teachers truly care about the kids. They are encouraging, patient, and love teaching and have never forgotten that kids also need to have fun. There are numerous school events, activities, sports and after school clubs to make sure children are included and active in the school. If you are looking for a great public school, you have definitely found it here!

I am very happy with our school. the teachers and Principal are all great. however they can do some changes at the front office. unfriendly staff member whispers as certain parents walk in and never takes the time to say hello, good morning, or even how can I help you ? sometimes she can't even be found.

This is my child's 3rd year at this school. There are many exciting and positive changes this year due to our new Principal. The lunch room is now run so efficient and is a fun environment for the kids. Kiss-N-Go drop off and pick up is a much safer solution for the children. It would work better if parents followed the rules and traffic laws. There are many great teachers and the office staff is wonderful to deal with.

Principal is mia 98% of the time. Assistant principal well talk around and around and around you until you've forgotten why you even called. I've been told that this used to be a very good school. But it isn't any more. Teachers seem beaten down. The p.e. coaches run threes school. Two words....zone variance.

Kay Carl Elementary school is one of the best schools in Clark County. They have an excellent selection of talented teachers and the curriculum includes a wide variety of subjects and classes. The students that go to Kay Carl elementary really like their environment. It is one of the best managed schools in the whole state of Nevada.

Okay school. My son had a sub teacher most of his 1st grade year. Great teacher for 2nd and 3rd (same teacher) and 4th grade the teacher was verbally abusive to the kids. Now in his last year, new teacher with the school that is retiring.

This has been the worst experience I could have imagined for my children. My daughter didn't have a teacher for the second half of first grade and no one even told us the teacher had gone out on disability. They had numerous subs who didn't know what they were doing which caused my daughter to go from all A's to an F in math. We are still working to get her back on track and will be for the rest of second grade. At least we did get the best second grade teacher. And if they consider having the kids pick up trash as a great P.E. program then there are major problems at this school. I can't wait to get my children out of this school next year.

I have grandchildren in this school and the experience has been very upsetting and frustrating. My granddaughter went from an A student to an F student in math in one short year. Her teacher was out sick most of the time and the subs obviously did not do their job. Look at the test scores and stats for this school compared to the state average, I believe it says it all. I do not feel the children are getting a good education here and will be happy to see them go to another school next year.

This is my grandson's second year at Kay Carl and I am very happy with the treatment he receives from the faculty and many of them call him by name. He loves school and his teachers. The PTA is great in sponsoring affordable fundraisers and programs to keep the kids involved. I have a choice to place him in a private school but prefer Kay Carl.
