This school has been one of the most frustrating experiences for my family. As a parent, it is extremely disappointing to see how certain teachers continue receiving complaints from students and parents, yet nothing seems to be done to help the students affected.

My son has worked hard for years, and now he may not be able to walk at graduation over only 0.5 credits because of issues involving the way a specific class was taught and graded. What makes this even more concerning is that my other son experienced similar problems with the same teacher in previous years.

Instead of supporting students and helping them succeed, it feels like the administration ignores serious concerns until it is too late. Communication from the school has also been very poor, and trying to get answers or solutions has been extremely difficult.

Graduation is a major milestone for any teenager, and schools should be focused on helping students reach that moment, not making it harder for them. I truly hope the district takes a closer look at the complaints being made by families because students deserve better support and better leadership.

2025 As a Grandparent of a student, I am not happy about the information my Granddaughter tells me. 1st the school is so crowded this year she can barely walk to class without slow shuffle steps, Overcrowding is a health risk plus safety issue. Not to mention the traffic after school is obnoxious. Lunchtime should be divided into 2 times, one for 9 and 10th grade and one for 11th and 12th grade. The lunch trucks are over priced, she tried once and a bag of chips and 2 drinks were $20 . And the lines for the cafeteria are worse. My Granddaughter has one teacher she does like , who treats students like human beings ( In the JROTC ) All the others do not engage in talking with students, they maintain a role book for school funds. My Granddaughter went to College events but she doesn't feel encouraged to attend any. She is self motivated to continue with her culinary education but did not receive encouraging words from her teacher. 1st week of school and she already is ill from the classroom and halls being packed beyond the safety amount of students that should be there. Let's hope there's no crisis this year. It would be a disaster.

Honestly one of the worst schools I've ever been to, not only does staff act so unwelcoming but in general so unhelpful to students and parents. My problem personally is with the staff, the staff will favorite others and let them get away with dresscode, cyberbullying, walking around/skipping whenever, and etc.

Half of the teachers here are so burnt out which makes them act so poorly to students. In my own experience I had my culinary teacher put her hand in my face literally just for asking about a seat. Later that day I was spoken to by a vice principal and was put down, she told me the teacher was not usaully known for being "nice". Somehow that was justified for how she acted towards me.

This school is very quiet to parents when anything happens, as somebody who only has one working parent they had made me pay expensive fees. I didn't even know the electives class fees before I got into the class which would've been helpful to know before getting into the classes.

This school has such horrible communication, for example. They're building something on campus and I'm sure only about 20% students here would know what they're even building, overall I've paid about $200 dollars because of class fees, ridiculous pricing for getting a new ID, dress code, and school lunch.

I can't wait until this school year is over because I'm never coming back.

Sierra Vista High School is a deeply concerning institution where a hostile, unsafe environment seems to prevail. Students are exposed to frequent incidents of violence and aggression, often perpetrated by individuals with criminal backgrounds.
The campus security and law enforcement staff appear ineffective in addressing these issues. While they may claim to prioritize student safety, their actions suggest otherwise, as incidents of assault and harassment continue unabated.
In my opinion, Sierra Vista is a school that fails to provide a safe and supportive environment for its students. I would rate it a zero, as the schools atmosphere seems more like a battleground than a place of education. If youre seeking a chaotic and unsafe environment, Sierra Vista may be the right choice. However, for those prioritizing student well-being and security, it is strongly recommended to consider other options.

This is a decent school. I can't speak for everyone, but all the staff members I've met have been either very friendly and understanding, or stern, but in an effective and necessary way (the kids can get very rowdy). However, in the time I've been here, I have heard about so many fights I can't even remember how many. I don't feel like the school genuinely pays attention to how us students feel and I don't feel like there is any real support for kids that are struggling. Discrimination is also a serious issue. I'm a black student, and have been mocked and called slurs (I'm sure you can guess which) although I am the type to always mind my business unless it's absolutely necessary not to. I've also heard many derogatory things aimed at queer students, not to mention disabled students. My parents don't really know much about what goes on in my school. I can tell they don't feel involved.

Overall, this school is a 3/5. It's alright, I like certain aspects, but others seriously need to be worked on. Don't be too worried, I was too, when I looked up reviews before I had even been on campus. You/You're kid(s) will be fine. Despite how much I laid into the problems, it's just like any other public school.

I have a child attending the 2022-23 school year. To say it has been a challenge to deal with the school is an understatement. While my student has had Teachers who care and are trying to help my student be successful, there are others who are just terrible. When there has been an issue that required my attention/intervention, my emails and phone calls were ignored by one teacher in particular. Easier for them to just ignore parents than fix problems. The Administration is not much better. When my child was involved in an incident that happened on school grounds, I could not get a hold of any administrative official for almost a week. No information, no parental outreach, nothing. Their FAIR program is a joke, just a trailer in the parking lot to warehouse kids. If your child has to go into that program, they will be behind for the rest of the school year. Do your self a favor if you have a child in middle school and they are zoned to go to Sierra Vista. Apply for a magnet school or find a better option if you can afford it.

This school does not prepare kids well for college. The sports and music extracurriculars are mediocre. There are much better schools in the same zone with better preparation.

This school has drastically changed for the worst over the past 3 years. I don't know where these bad kids have come from but the environment at the school is different. The expelled over 90 kids last year which go to behavior school for a short term period and then are allowed to re-enter the public school again, if not same school a nearby school. These kids are doing drugs, pills, fighting, gang initiations, bullying, peer pressure, disrespect...etc. This used to be one of the better schools but not anymore. Parents keep a close eye on your kids, monitor their phone, their social media accounts and their association of friends. It could mean saving your kids life from the horrible environment of this school. I witnessed a kid fight the school police officer after school last year and the kids brother jumped in it. I've never seen kids fight the police like that before.

I moved into this area thinking the school was large and would have the resources to accommodate all levels of students. My son has witnessed daily fights between students on campus, felt their was a high presence of gang activity and eventually stopped going to his gym class where he was constantly a targeted with threats. This is not a learning environment. He witnessed a student being slammed into a locker resulting in a concussion and the offending student being expelled, only to find at the end of the school year this same student was brought back into his classroom and makes verbal threats to other students. Academically, when my son requested feedback on his test scores, he was told that he could not see his test results because they needed to be recorded. As a parent I am frustrated that I cannot help him study as outside of his math class he gets no study guides, books or online links to work he is doing. I know most of the Clark county high school system is like this. It is engineered to keep parents out of the loop and does not give us the information we need to hold our children accountable.

I am a freshman at this school and by what I can tell, they have the worst staff ever. Most of the teachers there just sit on there phones and change the power point slide. We never actually get to be hands on with anything. I only have one teacher who is a good teacher but gives us endless amounts of homework. I would expect this from any CCSD high school considering that CCSD is ranked #50 out of 50 school districts in America.

I moved back to Las Vegas from California and went back to Sierra Vista and I couldn't believe the change. There is no longer any school spirit and as far as the teachers go they don't really care about teaching they get paid (in my opinion) to just sit there throw 50 slides of notes on the bored then give you a packet of work and tell you it's due tomorrow. In California they actually taught us something and the transition was horrible to go back and fail. But it gets to a certain point as a student when you can't blame anyone but the teacher when ever kid in the class is failing because then it's the teachers fault. The kids are horrible just doing the most in a bad way that's only hurting them. The school is almost like a school filled with wanna be gangs and drugs and that's just what I figured out my first week back as I sat there only observing how everyone and everything has changed. The once amazing school, the school that was known as the role mode school is nothing but a disaster almost like a jail that we spend hours in trapped learning nothing. I had two good teachers last year and I was taking seven classes so that says a lot.

This school is one of the worst in Clark County, in my opinion. Uncaring teachers, way too many fights occur out of nowhere in the learning environment, and it's not very clean nor is its staff organized at all.

SV has DRASTICALLY changed in these past few years since the recession, &still is changing. I've had at least 1 of my children attending since 2005, &I'm very disppointed in what it's becoming. Since the economy dropped in 2007, you can see a big change in the school's student body, teachers and parents(things started getting bad around late 2010-ish). Many people lost their homes on this side of town, so of course many people moved in from the wrong side of town when homes dropped. Many of the teachers at this school are careless/arroggant &the adminstration is constantly switching people. Also, many of the students are ignorant, don't care about their school work/school in general. There is constant conflict between the new young students(physcial fights), &racism as well against others since the main ethinicties of the school are now becoming Asian or Black. This school has NO school spirit anymore, and there's no parent involvment either within the new incoming generations of parents/students. It's rather disppointing that a once a new awesome school, has changed for the worse. SV was a WAY better school before, &it's sad that now I don't even want my last child to even attend

Not really good. Socially there are tons of teachers who choose their favorite students, so it's hard to just talk to teachers when they think you're random or weird or 'why are you in my class?' There is also some bullying. Academically, there are some teachers that are awesome at teaching, but give extremely hard or overwhelming amounts of work in very little time and there are some who don't teach well at all. For class variety, there is enough to make it interesting, but nonetheless it is not enough to be enjoyable. I would recommend the Weight Training class, but that is my personal interest so I can't speak for all the students. All in all, it is below average, and if you can go somewhere else. There is more to school than just grades; it is about learning and gaining experience, but also to enjoy it. The school puts too much emphasis on the test scores and basically places your value as a person based on them as well.

My school is fast developing a sense of community and singularity of purpose. It's a new school but it's beginning to get its bearings straight. This year, a rally to welcome the incoming freshmen was held and it was well attended. The faculty is impressive. The management is rational. I expect great things from the school for my child this year.

CCSD needs to replace all teachers, admins, and students at this school. I'm pretty bummed that it still exsiting. Sierra Vista brought bad memories and bad grades to me, but it wasn't my fault. The administration really sucks no wondrous why there's no school spirit. As far as I'm concerned, that school was the worst.NOT ROCCOMEND THIS SCHOOL.would have gave 0 stars.
