If it were possible to give Kathleen & Tim Harney Middle School a zero-star rating, I would do so without hesitation. My experience at this school was nothing short of appalling. From the toxic environment to the complete lack of professional integrity, this is easily the most dysfunctional and disappointing educational setting I have ever encountered. The issues here aren't just minor inconveniences; they are systemic. Whether it is the disregard for student well-being, the ineffective leadership, or the overall hostile atmosphere, Harney fails on nearly every level. It is truly disheartening to see an institution that should be fostering growth instead operate in such a pathetic and neglectful manner. I strongly advise any parent or student to look elsewhere; this school is a disservice to the community it claims to serve. The administration, specifically the principals, are quite literally sloppy with their so-called 'punishments.' I received horrible threats online by an attending student, and they did absolutely nothing about it other than talk to her. They refused to issue a meaningful consequence like STAR until she kept reporting me and they simply got tired of the reports.Wanna know what that tells me?? That tells me they are lazy. They cannot handle discipline and give aggressive students far too many chances while victims are left unprotected. This matches a broader pattern where parents have reported rampant bullying and physical altercations that go unaddressed by leadership. I am utterly disgusted by this 'school.' This place doesn't feel like a place to learn; it feels like a place to get bullied and disrespected. They hold these meaningless assemblies and swear they'll take immediate action against harassment, but its all for show. In reality, the halls are unsafe and the staff is indifferent. Even the basic necessities are failing; the 'food' they serve is sickening. The pizza is cold, often served undercooked or tasting like cardboard, which is unacceptable for a district that claims to care about nutrition. There is only one bright spot at this school: the band program. It is the only place where you might find a sense of structure and dedication. Aside from that, Harney is a failure. To any parents seeing this, I do not recommend this school for your child. Your kid deserves academic success and a safe environment, neither of which can be found here. hey deserve better than the neglectful, disorganized standard set by this school.

I was new to this school in November but i liked it and then my 1st-6th-7th period teacher is so Rude and weird to all the people in My class one time she poked someone in the eye with a Pencil and pushes people and hits them and There are 2 Girls in my class who always bully people and cause Drama and Lies about people to spread Rumors and The staff is not good at their job and The Teachers always believe The Staff or other students who are better then the people who are failing and One Time My Teacher threw this Random boys phone and broke it and the phone hit the TV and it Broke and once the Principal Came in My teacher blamed it on the person and Also My teacher also screams at people and Drags them back to their seat Or Claims that she will call everyones Parents For no reason but everyone is listening and The Main Vice principal is so inpatient and Putting People on STARON for no reason and always yells at people and suspends them or puts them in ISS or In house for the whole day and lies about people and Also Really Rude and unprofessional Always Yelling at people for no reason but i kinda like this school but its to much drama and the staff wont do anything about it they will only make you write Statements.

Would not recommend this school at all. They need to work on Students mental health, bullying, drama, etc. Lunch is horrible cold pizza served half of the time. Students Bully other students leading into drama and fighting. I've been involved with girls talking bad about me leading to them wanting to JUMP ME. luckily the girls stopped but staff did nothing but just talk to the girls about the issue. Alot of students use AI to do their work because some of my teachers just assign work and don't even bother to teach. I mean we do go to school for a reason but clearly its something else. Counselors don't care about MENTAL HEALTH AT ALL!! that's also a big issue they will just sit with you and give you words to make you happy and that it.. This school is crazy for charging kids fees for the dumbest reason 5 dollars if you don't bring your ID but I understand that we need IDs but some kids are struggling at home. they need to take it into consideration that not all Students can afford to be paying a 5 to 10 dollar fee. I hate this school throughout 6th to 8th grade.

this school is one of the most disgusting and pathetic of a school ever. The teacher do nothing some just lets you be on your phone and they have poor teaching skills and they also assign work without you learning about it. The school food is nasty and it has a lot of mold on it. Not to mention the staff here is horrible they do not care about the students and only given them suspension or detention no other punishment. They dont even care for kids mental health. For starters I had a friend who went to this school and they went to the counselors to talk about their problems and the counselors did nothing about it just gave her some useless comforting words and sent her off back to class. There is so much racist kids and there are fights almost daily I do not feel safe at this school. I barely learned anything in classes and I struggle on a lot of subjects. If you are sending your kid here please reconsider since this school praises bullying.

This school is sooo horrible, I don't even know where to begin. Firstly the school is so dirty, the water fountain produced brown water until they had to replace it. Yet it still tastes dirty, not to mention once me and my brother were looking around the school before I was enrolled and we found a roach on the ground. Second, Let's not even talk about the students. When it was my first day of school here the students were literally being racist and saying slurs constantly: I never wanted to go here again. Once I was in science class when I saw a female student talk to an AI chat bot during class and the teacher didn't even see. The students are so misbehaved and nosey that they literally focus on drama, what other kids are doing and their phones instead of actually working for their future. Third, there is a serious bullying problem in the school, I can't even walk in peace to my class without hearing or seeing any other kid put on another person to make themselves look cool. Fourthly, the school's staff don't really talk to the students who act poorly. They only punish them with detention or suspension which leads the students to feel disdain towards the teachers and that leads them to act up again. If they were to communicate with the students we wouldn't have this problem. I do not feel happy or safe in this school. Once they served my friend raw chicken, it was pink and cold....

This school effects many students, I receive complaints from my friends and my siblings everday about teachers being sloppy with their teaching.

This school doesn't consider students feelings and ONLY uses AI and is very lazy, constantly pressuring kids and charging them with fines constantly. They dont consider the kids who are geniunely struggling at home and they dont put any effort into stopping harassment and assaulting. My sister was sexually assaulted by ANOTHER student and the school did NOTHING about it. They only changed my sister's schedule. The punishments are sloppy and are pointless, the No Contact Contracts are horrendous with the fact that the students can still interact with eachother. The teachers do not help the students proffeciently, there's kids who struggle everyday but yet still recieve tons of pressure from other kids and even their own teachers. The principals do NOT discipline correctly. The "discipline" is really just detention all day and no actual consequence. They dont teach bullies geniune lessons, all they do is warn them and whatever instead of giving them a solid punishment. Be better. I believe this school can be redeemed if they started to do their jobs accordingly.

The school lunch is also a problem as my friend was given moldy fruit. She complained and they refused to give her another one. My criticisms go beyond this review. If you guys really believe that kids can be so much more then help them with that instead of pressuring them with things beyond their level.

The teachers are unprofessional and the staff doesn't genuinely care about the students. My child attended this school less than a year and I already have made plans to take him out. It's ridiculous how they run this school. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO AND PARENT OR CHILD.

My child is in the 6th grade. Middle School is new to both of us. My child did not have the best grades and I would expect to be contacted by a teacher with concerns. No teacher ever initiated a call or email. I always did. I guess the parents are to depend on Infinite Campus for all info. So I called the 6th grade counselor because I was concerned that my child was not progressing or excelling. I basically told that CCSD states a "D" is passing. So if he is not failing, I wouldn't be notified of anything. My expectations and Clark Counties expectations are two different things. I feel like the teachers and staff should be more concerned with grades and care more. Not depend on iPads to teach the student the majority. Also, the students in my opinion seem very sad, depressed, with suicidal ideation. My child exchanged numbers with other students and I monitor his EVERYTHING. There have been at least 3 little girls who have mentioned to him how they "cut" or have cut themselves in the past, or how their are rumors going around about a girl "cutting emo" how they don't want to live anymore, or how they feel ugly. Idk if it's Middle School jitters or if they are looking for attention

The School itself is ok, however,Im concerned with the lack of teaching thats being given. I understand that the Schools are evolving into the new technology for students, but that still doesn't make it ok for the Teachers to not teach and help the students who are having problems with certain subjects. You have some good teachers and some bad ones. If teaching is not your love, then there should be another field you should try.

well I am moving from Shreveport Louisiana and I am moving to las vegas for the second time the first time I came I was in the third grade so now its my last year in middle school I will be an eighth grader this year when school starts back and I will be going to this school so if any of the former students can tell me what this school will be like I will be very happy with who ever responds to my comment thank u and have a happy and safe summer every one

My children's school is the best in Las Vegas. They offer excellent teachers and an awesome curriculum with opportunities to grow and expand s child's knowledge in a friendly environment!

Overall the school is clean and very well put. Teachers are ok. I'm constantly having to stress about my school work. I've been having thoughts about switching schools if possible. I'm only stressing over one particular class. Ms. Holitik class accelerated. First of all the class is ENGLISH not POETRY! And everytime she gives the class an assignment to do she doesn't explain it to where me and my other classmates understand. She teaches us stuff nothing related to English. She basically bullies her students. If you try and ask a question to her she will literally embarrass you to the whole class. She will start yelling at you. She will not help you in any other way! I come from John C. Fremont MS and it's a fair school, but I learned more there than I do here! In harney there is so much pressure on te kids to do more than well. In Fremont MS they help you out with problems. In harney all they do is tell at you and your done. And I already know by posting this I'll get Suspended or something, but there's no other way I'll be heard.
