This school is now a 100% magnet school. The school has changed so much! Staff is excellent, and seem highly motivated and inspired to teach. The curriculum is challenging for my children in the best way and the overall number of students compared to neighboring magnet middle schools make this a more comfortable experience for students to actually learn, make friends and have a positive middle school experience. I’m so happy that my kids are attending this school.

This school just pushes kids through. Administration gets away with a lot, they choose how to discipline based on race. Safety is an issue and teachers are there for a check. Don’t send even if they relabel it a magnet school. Any other middle school is better than this.

My child has been going here for a year. The school is terrible. There are fights all the time, discipline is minimal for some but not others. Teachers and staff are completely disconnected from reality and the students. We will be transferring to another school ASAP.

Ms. Crowley is not a good teacher. Too busy yelling at kids to teach.

I actually was able to attend a full day of school with my son so that I as his parent was able to see what was going on with his classes and work firsthand and while discussing his sudden withdraw from his education he was actually told by his teacher, in front of me, that It, "doesn't matter to me whether you pass or not because I pick up my paycheck every payday and go home every Friday." This absolutely left me speechless! No educator should tell this to a child! Who cares if you pass or fail I get paid either way! Unacceptable from a person you trust with your child's well being!

This school and its staff single handedly have taken my son who was once happy, enthusiastic and had a passion for knowledge and allowed him to be bullied by a group of children which has caused extremely low self esteem and self doubt in my son.

The staff who are supposed to be the role models for which I believe at middle school age is the most crucial age to have positive role models have done absolutely nothing to protect my son in regards to the obvious psychological and physical abuse that he has suffered while in attendance at Burkholder.

As per my review my son has been very bullied at this school and while there is a zero tolerance for bullying in the state of Nevada the staff at Burkholder has done nothing to correct this or help to resolve our issues. They haven't so much as even addressed our concerns.

am a parent of a student at Burkholder MS and if I can save another child from what mine has experienced while attending this school then all my efforts will have been worth it. When my son started this school he was a happy enthusiastic student who loved to learn. He was very social and had many friends and had no disciplinary problems. While in attendance at Burkholder the staff has allowed his safety to be compromised by a group of bullies and they have done nothing to correct the problem. His grades have completely dropped and he has detached himself socially. As a parent you put your blind trust into school staffs and hope that they truly have your child's best interest at hand as they are responsible for their education which is one of the most important roles in a child's life. With an exception of a few, The staff that I have dealt with at Burkholder should not only not be educators, they should not be working with children in any matter and because of their obvious loss of the passion that originally drove them to a career in child education my son has suffered tremendously. Should you be considering this school for you child please feel free to contact me regarding my experience with the staff and administrators of Burkholder MS as our fight with this has just begun. I will be happy to explain in detail to any parent with any concern.

Don't let your children go to this school, The teachers have lost a lot of papers which come up as missing bringing down your grade tremendously. The school may be newer than some in the district but they are very bad.

This is our 5th year at Burkholder and we currently have a 6th grader. Our older two children had very positive experiences while attending BMS. They are truly a team and work together with parents to ensure the students succeed. They are akways looking for ways to improve even when test scores are high. They have high expectations and rigor for the students. The school also recognizes how important it is to recognize student achievements and accomplishments. They also offer fabulous band, orchestra and choir programs as well as a large amount of after school activities for the students.
