This is my second son going to this school and I should have known better to not send my second son to this school. My first son played football for arbor view. My son got injured on the field. He had a cast that went up his leg. I told them i work before school started .So I didn't know how he was going to get to the school since we live so close he couldn't take the bus and it's to far from him to walk to school with a cast. I asked them could we do like a covid thing where he on the computer and i come and get his work while he heals . They said no I would have to withdraw him from school if he can't make it. Well its not like he got hurt playing around he got hurt playing on your field. ONCE YOUR CHILD IS NO GOOD FOR THE TEAM ANYMORE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILD!! because remember this is a job for them. Now my second son wants to play and I'm having difficulty and Noone want to help me with a problem that's on there end so my son won't get to play because they won't help. I went to the school and you have to call the extension on the office phone and talk to them through there. They don't even come to see you. I would put your kid in another school.

My son had a great freshman year. His English and math teachers were excellent and I cannot say enough good things about the band and volleyball programs. Especially in the volleyball program, he found friends and the coaches encouraged the players to eat lunch with the autism kids. It was a great experience.

A few years ago my family and I left this school due to a number of reasons. The first being that my son was being harassed his freshman year and consistently bullied. When presented to the faculty and deans. The first response by the dean my wife and I were meeting with, said this Nobody likes a snitch. Not only did this infuriate my wife, but it made up our mind about the fact we needed to leave this school. After this event, my wife and I were attending a volleyball game where the kids in our student section were taunting the other team, harassing the opposing teams parents, and searching up the kids playing on Instagram. Then proceeded to antagonize them with information regarding their personal lives. Quite ridiculous. The teachers here are some of the worst I have seen since I was born in 1967. Good Luck Arbor View.

Part of why we moved is because of the poor quality of staff working at this school. This starts with the horrible leadership of the Principle and ends with teachers who simply do care about their students educational success. Yes, there were a couple of excellent teachers and a Vice Principal that did not fit the terrible standards at Arbor View, but it wasn't enough to provide a student an overall quality education.

My experiences with this school have been great so far. I do feel left out often, but this is because I am a pretty asocial person and find it difficult to approach others. All of my teachers up until now have been wonderful (I am in 10th grade and had 13 teachers). The dress code is fairly relaxed and makes actual sense, unlike at my middle school. Basically, if you show up with an actual shirt on (even a cropped shirt) and your pants aren't sagging then you're good :) This school also doesn't make homework mandatory, it is up to each teacher and most teachers don't assign homework. You only need to do work at home if you don't complete it in class, and there's usually plenty of time to complete it in class.
I suffer from severe ADHD, and there are steps I can take with the administration to help me keep up with my classes. There are also accommodations for trans youth at this school, like options to change the name/gender listed on your Infinite Campus, which is really important for the mental health of transgender students. So this school is pretty good at helping out LGBT+ and disabled students.
The worst thing about this school is the students. There are thousands of kids here, and most of them are pretty neutral. It is rather annoying that kids walk slowly and are always distracted by phones in the halls, but most kids here are actually nice people. I've had very few negative experiences with other students.

I am a tenth grader who attends Arbor and let me just say that my experience here so far has been pretty awful. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is because on behalf of the teachers and the environment, it's great! I have not had a single bad experience with a teacher here so far and the school for the most part is pretty well taken care of. I see a lot of reviews from people on here talking about how the school is nasty, and about bad experiences they've had with teachers... I don't know if it's just because those are old reviews and the school has changed but I don't see any of it. My main problem with this place is that the students here are blatantly tormenting. It's basically one of those stereotypical over-populated suburban High Schools where if you are not a rich white jock who's into sports and dresses a certain way, congratulations you're an outcast and are bound to be treated like absolute garbage by everybody, me being one of those students. I have been here for only a little less than two weeks and in that time, not a single student has said nor done a single nice thing for me. In fact everybody just looks at me like I'm a disgusting freak and I've already been referred to as a r3t4rd and a f4gg0t on multiple occasions. So yeah, if you're an incoming student and you don't fit in with a certain criteria just keep in mind that this place isn't gonna be too great for you.

My experience at Arbor View High School was overall very eye-opening and has improved my personal character. I learned to know my limits and also to push myself at the same time, and I have made a wide variety of friends.
A few tips I would give for incoming students are to not take AP courses unless you are CERTAIN that you are ready, and to always respect your teachers. Many students disrespect them, but I promise, they are not the enemy. Do not be afraid to discuss your grade with your teacher if you have questions, in my experience they have been very helpful and will correct a mistake they've made.
I did not join a club, but I would advise an incoming student to, it can be very rewarding and makes it easier to find friends. Joining electives is equally rewarding, I personally recommend choir, seeing as I was in it for my 4 years of high school and long before.
My favorite teachers : Ms.Ruiz (a personal favorite, I had her for two years as a student and one as a student aide, there is a heavier workload in her class.), Mr.Barber (easy class if you pay attention, hilarious dude and honestly a very good teacher. I never cared about the government until I took his class this year, very light workload for his class, mostly notes.), Mr.Booth (makes learning genuinely fun, he cares about what he does, and the workload is about medium, but they are VERY easy assignments, and there are many fun moments I look back on in his class, even though I've only been in it for a semester.), and Mrs.Francese (my choir teacher, who strives to make the choir a family, and makes the most effort so that we do our best. To those considering choir, I'd advise that you join it. I was in concert choir for two years, and ladies choir for the other two.). There are plenty more teachers that I adore at this school, and many who I haven't met that I'm sure are delightful. There are teachers that aren't really my cup of tea, but we all have those, and the teachers I don't like are solely based on personality, not on teaching ability. The teachers at this school overall have a solid ability in teaching, and I appreciate what they do.
Overall, I've loved Arbor View High School and everything it has had to offer. I can honestly say I've spent the best years of my life here, even not being a popular student. Good luck and have fun at AVHS (:

The homework is really dependent on the teacher you get, but I personally never had too much homework or homework that was too challenging.

In my early childhood class during freshman year, our class went with a group of special needs kids to the orchard and carved pumpkins with them. Students with special needs are commonly integrated into classes with other students, as well as specialized classes.

The school may be a little bit too on top of bullying, because yes, cases of bullying are handled, but sometimes even small jokes are taken completely serious and it can be made into a huge deal without reason.

This is the worst high school I have ever seen. They do not have the student education needs dialed in. They are not effective in behavior control. The teachers and staff label students and the the students do not have a chance to redeem themselves. They have a class called Independant Living for Seniors. It is supposed to teach about finanial management, consumer skills, home management and budgeting credit and investment and Home Mangement . All they actually do is teach the student how to sew and cook. They had to bring food in every Fridays to get a grade. They student didn't even learn how to write a check or create a budget. The teaches abscound funds from the student atheletes on the pretence of traveling for sport events. This is only a start of wht I have seen over a 7 year time frame. I have one more year of being a parent an Arbor View Student. If I had my way I would not have my go this school.

If your child is a star athlete they will have no problem making the football team. If your child is average, but comes to the whole summer camp, makes the team and he'll never get to play! The head coach for varsity is arrogant! He will not even talk to you unless your kid is one of his star players. If your kid wants to play football, do not send them to this high school!

I'm mixed in my response to Arbor View. We've had some really good teachers, we've had some horrible teachers, and we've had a great deal of help from the counseling staff and office. I'm of the opinion that they "track" students and that has caused a lot of problems given that my child is trying to improve and being put in classes that don't match her new resolve to succeed. I feel sorry for some of the teachers who are having to deal with drugs, alcohol, bad language, unruly behavior and more, in their classrooms. I don't think this is an Arbor View problem so much as a system wide issue. There is also the insect problem that no one but the kids seem to mention (I've heard reports from several of cockroaches). This year, the cafeteria and other classrooms were infested from early in the school year until the end of the school year. I understand they will be dealing with this over the summer but still. Overall I think this school is average. You'll find good and bad in any school in CCSD probably. You can get a good education here if you are a diligent student or have diligent parents.

We have been to three school in three years- ouch- in three different cities.. arbor view is one of the better schools although there were others rated much higher on this web site. a few places they need to improve- parent portal- make use of the upcoming assignment feature. Internet: please instruct teachers not to bash technology. If the school blocks the web site in the school don't expect the students to have to pull out their I phone or androids and log on to a site in class to get around the block. Not all students can afford data plans. Not really thrilled with all the work they have to do on the computer at home- it feels like a way to reduce the amount of work the teacher does grading which also reduces the amount of constructive criticism they can give the student. If there is a good reason for not having work done by a due date- take the work This school is much better organised than any other we have been to. For the most part the teachers put the grades in, in a timely manner. Most of the teachers seem professional in their conduct- I don't obviously know everyone- it's a big school.

Arbor View I don't understand what happened between student and the administration in the first rating below. First of all, teachers should not be cursing at students. Not a good example. Next if the student went to apologize, where was the upper administration to deal with this if the teached didn't accept the apology. Why would the student be blocked from attending class. Three years ago, another of my grandchildren graduated from Arbor View. I was really impressed with the principal and the whole staff. What happened? My grandson, this year, loves the school. Doesnt' get into trouble. But, I would hope that the staff would be considerate of all students. This is where they learn to get along in the world. Teachers should be the first example. Hold their temper. Hope it gets corrected. I, also, don't think that political views should be aired at school, unless it is a two-way street.

I am a student at Arbor View and recently got into a verbal dispute with a teacher who was cursing at students. I stood up for myself, causing me to get reprimanded. After I was reprimanded, I went to apologize to calm the situation. That teacher was blatantly disrespectful. That teacher continued to kick me out of their class, day after day. I was reprimanded for not showing up to that teachers period. Arbor View is by far, the most radical, unreasonable, and unfair school towards minorities. The facility is amazing though!

Clubs are great friends are great high drug use and its hit and miss on good teachers They are either really nice or very abusive. Last year was great. All the good staff took promotions end of last year so we have new staff now

I went here for two weeks and all i can say is that it was so clique. Coming from California it was an adjustment but i didn't realize how different it was going to be. The staff there is a joke. Mostly care about getting money from the state rather than the students well being. And the counselor i had was no help at all, don't know why he works with kids. Two weeks was enough for me to judge based on what i saw and experience.
