I was a past student who transferred to another school, and I just wanna say I miss Del Webb a LOT! There were so many kind teachers (especially in orchestra) and one of my math teachers (Mrs. Bettis) was AMAZING and helped me understand everything extremely well. Though there were MANY fights, they get stopped pretty fast. Majority of the students were nice.

For a school that is constantly encouraging respect, they dont seem to have any regard for autistic students.
I was in the assistant principals office for an incident regarding something that literally 90% of the kids in this school do every day, but if you know how schools are, you know that when it comes to autistic students, they always single them out. When she called my house, my mom literally had to ask the assistant principal you do realize she has autism, right? and she went completely silent, as if she had no idea and automatically knew she was in the wrong. Being an administrator and not knowing that your own student has autism is wild to me. Also insane to me how someone working in a school environment would not be aware with how autism works.
They also refused to give me an IEP because my academic performance is so well I dont need it. And when my dad went to a meeting with my teachers to discuss my 504 plan last year, they were all going on about how I didnt need it because I was doing so well in classes. So insane to me.

I dont know what these other students are talking about with guns and drugs, but my experience here has been decent especially with the teachers. I am in 8th grade with a 4.0 gpa in the highest classes. The teachers are very nice to me, there has actually been a decrease in fights from years prior. I am the nerd/jock so I talk to all kinds of people and some of the kids can be really rude for no reason but if you hang around the right people you will be fine. Ive played on the Dw soccer team and basketball team and they have been great experiences. The only down side is that other kids arent as gifted as me so they struggle with grades and the students cant get their grades up unless they have on of the few teachers that actually go in depth and stay before and after school to help students

I don't know who other reviewers had for their students' instructors and counselors, but my experience has been radically different here.
In spite of a stressful year and a lot of adjusting to do, Webb faculty and counselors have made every effort to help my student, and my student in turn has been very successful here. I'm so impressed with Webb, either they've really cleaned house, or we have just been so lucky with our teachers and counselor.

This is by far the best school. All of the teachers are informative and understanding. It's been a tough first year of middle school, with everyone getting sick and they've handled it so well compared to others. I'm ever so grateful to be zoned for this school.

i still go there now and its horrible , im going into 8th grade and the past 2 years ive been there its been nothing but drama and racist . i am black , and teachers have dress coded me for things that are incredibly stupid . i was dress coded because i was wearing a tanktop that was 3 fingers but its supposed to be 3 inches ? there was a white female right next to me with half her stomach out and nothing was said to her . there is a big issue with bullying mainly in my experience with teachers . my 6th grade reading teacher threw her glasses at me and would curse at me and nothing was done about it . they dont tell parents anything because they know they have higher authority over their kids . i feel like half the teachers there are just working for the money . ive been accused of threatening someone i didnt even know , nor ever talk to because of my skin tone . i was suspended for having a "vape" and i didnt , they searched me , my whole locker , and completely ruined my locker and stuffed everything back in there just to tell me i need to clean it . i never even had it and i got suspended based off what another student told them , when they had no physical evidence i had anything . they dont care about their students only test scores , a lot of the students that they call " bad kids " are actually very smart , but tired of everything . no student should want to give up on their school work because of how their treated , and then the school labels them as a bad kid and in need of improvement . ive had bullying problems and have been called a " hood rat " based off my skin color and nothing was done about it . the staff made me seem like i was the one in the wrong because i confronted them about what they said . they staff said i had no proof of them saying it when they said it to my face . they overload you with homework and when u dont turn it all in ur not participating , they pull you outta class and confront you about how your not doing ur work but dont help u with it . it is a terrible school over all . they only care about acidemic scores and how the students make the school look . if you are a student thats not doing very well they dont try to help you they jus put you in the shadows so you dont make the school look bad . they do nothing about bullying , and the only character they help the students with is to be resent full . ive grew up with kids from elementary school and we went to webb and now they do drugs . do not send ur kids here please

Posted: July 31, 2020
A lot of the homework here felt like busy work and half the time it wasn't even for a grade, so you did that work for nothing.
Posted: July 31, 2020
In each grade level there seems to be a department where all the teachers are horrible at their jobs. The eighth grade science department in particular is the worst. This year alone two of those teachers quit and the way they do notes makes it very hard to understand. On tests there would be questions about things we never learned about. Other departments would excel, but those few departments bring down the teachers as a whole.

Where's the leadership effective at this school? There's no focus at all on engagement and community support. They don't even try to seek to understand the culture, history, and expectations of the entire community. They definitely are not proactive outreach to all stakeholders, particularly those underrepresented in the public engagement, and do not enhance relationships with outside groups especially parents of their students. Lastly, they need to really develop a clear focus on openness, transparency in all communication systems, and protocols used to communicate both internally and externally.
Posted: March 30, 2019
I would still rate this school at my experience a "3" because of the issues that they still need to or improve focus on engagement and community support.
Posted: March 30, 2019
This school has an effective approach to homework, but it all depends whether the students have non-accelerated or accelerated classes.
Posted: March 30, 2019
The teachers at this school are effective, but then, there has been a major turnaround of teachers this year so basically half of the faculty are new for the 2018 -2019 year.
Posted: March 30, 2019
This school probably develops strong character in its student, like integrity, compassion and respect, but you don't or rarely see or hear about it. I would say 95% of information that's given to us in all sorts of communications is about bullying.

Pretty rough experience overall. Maybe my views are different because I am not from this region of the United States. It's rather amazing how weak this school performs on a national scale. It's terrible how overcrowded and underfunded this school is and sadly the parents tend to not care much about education. I guess this can be expected in one of the lowest formally educated populations in the United States.

Teachers may have an undergrad from a standard institution of higher learning but many obtain grad degrees from online institutions. Many teachers at this school don't understand the course content they're teaching. A lot of substantial issues at this school and it starts at the top.
Posted: September 25, 2017
Quite a bit of bullying, lots of fighting, and many students using drugs. It's gotten to the point that the neighborhood surrounding the school has asked law enforcement to set up cameras, especially at the park next to the school.
Posted: September 25, 2017
Terrible administration. Del Webb wants no parent involvement because they fear parental oversight. The administration is very unprofessional and the safety of the students is only somewhat considered. There are lots of fights, the crosswalks are rarely monitored, teachers are not regulated, and so many other issues.
Posted: September 25, 2017
The school is underfunded and thus the variety of courses and the overcrowded classrooms have created many issues, especially in terms of learning styles. There's only a few methods here and nothing unique.
Posted: September 25, 2017
Too many students and not enough staff to monitor these issues. This isn't a good environment for your children.

My daughter's phone was stolen inside the classroom. The thief left the case on the teacher's desk . This shows how brazen kids are nowadays. It's by no means, not the schools fault, it however is reflective of the character of students nowadays. I'm still appalled that this happened in a 6th grade classroom. I feel bad for the kid who took my daughter's phone. He/She may be in desperate need but stealing is not the answer.

School is in an affluent area, but hosts a blend of people. Some teachers genuinely care about there kids and others just try to get through the day. Del Webb's campus officers do very little in enforcement of rules which isn't necessarily a bad thing as most rules are trivial. The principals and administrative staff often show a lack of genuine interest or care for there students except for the counsellors. Overall, a quality school but not without its flaws.

I would agree with the previous post. We have moved around, and got here in August. My son is in eighth grade. He has always been a B student. His science and math teacher are horrible. There is no textbook or workbook pages for science! I have also dealt with an apathetic guidance counselor. After trying to help him with science and math, I am at a loss. They are being taught so poorly I understand why he isn't learning.

My student's experience at Del E. Webb Middle School involved a middle school counselor who didn't feel inclined to help and teachers who would selectively enforce policies. Before going to Del Webb, my student was a straight "A" student, consistently on the academic honor role roster, and was a optimistic about school. He maintained this high standard in academics from first grade into fifth grade. Then, within one quarter of attending Del E. Webb, my student was getting Ds and Fs. When we, his parents, tried to work with his counselor and teachers, we felt they were more interested in basically complaining about how there is a 1:107 teacher-to-student ratio at the school, basically implying that they are too over burdened to care for one student - my student.
Posted: November 3, 2015
Within one quarter this school turned my straight A student to a failing student (grades of D and F). And they offered little to no support or help each time both my student and I reached out to the counselor and teachers for assistance.

I am very pleased with this school. My son is in advanced classes and I have to say that the level of education he is receiving is excellent, especially as Nevada is ranked very low overall nationally and I was very concerned prior to my arrival in Henderson. Your child will get out of the school what they put in to it. If they don't want to work and you prefer to blame everyone else if your child does not do well then you will not be happy but if your kid is willing to listen, do their assignments and behave then you will have a great experience. The music program is extraordinary and there are also many clubs such as computer, chess, ICU, etc. All my conversations with the teachers, the Dean and counselors have been great. Believe me, you don't become an educator for the money so trust that they are there to help, not hinder.
Posted: December 6, 2013
the deand scare me and are strict, they have intresest if you pass the next grade,to much bullying, they make learning difficult, and the "leadership" means popular kids get to pick and be rude to other kids
Posted: November 17, 2013
This is an amazing school. The course you can take academically are outstanding and the teachers help you every step of the way.

My son started DWMS this year (8th grade). I for one have to say my experience was extremely satisfying from the Registration Office, Dean, Principal Assistant and Principal ...they were nothing but pleasant and showed a real concern for education. Most of all an immediate response to my concerns. Dealing with another school before and this one now the experience with staff members and teachers is a 360

Don't be fooled by the smile the Principal puts on at school events. She's a very condescending and disrespectful administrator to both her staff and the parents. I've truly never had confrontation with any CCSD administrator until I personally met Ms. Naegle. The tone of her voice is rude; she doesn't listen well; and she intimidates the teaching staff. Her way or the highway.

Well I just started going to del Webb and by far it's fun and amazing! I love all the teachers because they care and will help you out if your having trouble! They helped me in math and now I have an A in it! I recommend this school because as long as you work hard, you can accomplish anything! ;)

I have spent all of middle school on these grounds, and I can personally recommend that this is one of the best schools to go to in the district. Unlike many schools (or at least what is stereotypically(?) publicized of middle/high schools), Del Webb has no status quo; hence, there are no strict judgement among social groups, and everyone is caring. My personal experience at this school was far beyond my expectations: the worries of going into middle school never presented, the school had an extreme lack of (little to none) bullying, and it will be the most memorable years of my life. Many argue that the teachers are mean, but honestly (because my sister has been to another school around this district (due to zoning complications) and I have heard her experiences), you will not find any teachers like these anywhere else. It is not that the teachers are strict; it is that the teachers are widely variant in attitudes which teaches students how to deal with the tough demands of strict teachers as well as have fun in learning. At the end of the year, I noticed that the bad and the good can coalesce into a year that was overall prosperous. P.S. Don't mind the drama; it pays off.

I have been beaten down. In my six grade year, going to this school caused me to just break down, and leave the school just to be able to breathe. The kids were terrible. Not in a noticeable way, no; but in a way that makes you try so so hard to be something your not. I came back to this school in 8th grade, and nothing has changed. Don't go here, please. Let yourself be you.

I am a current 8th grader at del webb ms, and all i have to say is that its a great school overall! I dont get why there are so much hateful comments: the deans are strict (that's their job! to keep things orderly!) other people are complaining about foul language and bullying/cyber bullying. Of course EVERY SINGLE SCHOOL has these things, and, again, more the reason why we have such strict deans and/or teachers. The only comment i have is too much homework. I'm not whining or anything but i often stay late at night 12-1am working on tons of assignments! If the teachers would just lay off on the homework, maybe just a little, then it would help me and others SO much. That's all i really want to say. The teachers here are great, very productive and extremely friendly. They take time off of their own lives to help individual students with their confusion and misconceptions. Our counselors and principal are SO nice and are really approachable. Many thanks for this great school and all the things that they have offered to me. Regards to all the new 6th graders coming into del webb, and get ready to walk into this school with open arms. ---anonymous really going to miss del webb~

I'm in 7th grade at Del Webb and it's so far the worst school ever. Half of the teachers are horrible, and don't take the time to help you. The deans are aggressive and are too strict when it comes to dress code and other things that go on. The kids there are rude. The only good thing about the school is the Principal (who is very nice) and the academics and music and other elective programs.
