I love this school! My kiddo knows that she has multiple adults at the school who are there for her if she ever needs help, or just someone to talk to. If I ever have a question, it is super easy to reach out to the teachers via email and get a fast response. Since the school is small, at least compared to the district schools, and has multi-age classes, she has friends in her grade and those in grades close to her own. I love that the secondary students get chances to go down and read with the elementary students and I love the school events. This place rocks!

Our family moved to the Vegas area a little over two years ago and I found that the schools were terrible in Nevada. Shortly after our move I started working at EKA. After attending a few of the Senior presentations I was completely sold on this school. My kids struggled at first with the process but once they got accustomed to the pace I have seen such a change in both of them. My daughter will graduate from EKA in 2016 and I know that this school and its teachers have prepared her for college as well as life. She is articulate and well spoken, all of which I credit EKA with.

I have had students enrolled at EKA since 2007 and have been very pleased with the caring and innovative way the teachers have helped my students excel. Not only do they genuinely care, they go out of there way to help my child be the best they can be. I would highly recommend this school to anyone.

Those who do not like the school are generally clueless as to it's methods. Also, yes the school is in a state of flux or change, but it is to only better the curriculum. I can say this since we have been with this school since it opened over 10 years ago. My daughter went from not liking to learn to having a tenacity to find facts! She is taught to think outside the box and any issues with other girls (typical jr. high) are SWIFTLY dealt with because the school is too small to tolerate mean kids! Children are taught to stick up for one another and bullies will NOT get a chance to flourish here! Safety is key in this nasty city, but safety and learning is the ultimate combination. Your kid CANNOT learn in a school when they feel threatened and that is what MOST of Las Vegas is! Being a project based school with small class rooms also KEEPS YOUR CHILD SAFE so they can concentrate on learning! Any child will have to learn and be responsible or they will not make it here. Parental involvement is key. THIS IS NOT a school TO BABYSIT your kid! You can even help in the class in ANY GRADE! Again, self-motivated kids do best, those who need their hand held will not.!

Horrible, horrible high school! You cannot believe how BAD the teachers are. With one exception, the history teacher. The others seem to be living in and operating out of a strange twilight zone state of mind. We made a truly terrible mistake enrolling our daughter in this school and allowing her to stay the full year. I will be apologizing to her for the rest of my life. The 'peer' influence here is frightening. Keep a close eye on your child's behavior if you decide to let him/her attend .

We agree with the previous posts. We too had great hopes when our son started this school late in elementary. We thought that the project-based curriculum was a great idea that would prepare him for college and real life situations. Unfortunately, the schools staff was terribly disorganized and essentially re-writing the curricula and offering courses on the fly. Through middle school he had both so-so teachers and bad teachers. Their organization, discipline and the ability to hold students accountable is dissmal. In our experience too, kids do as they please with very little structure, learning or discipline going on. In theory their vision paired with organization, structure, discipline and holding each student accountable would make this school awesome. However, we didn't see this happening anytime soon so we made the decision to take our son out and enroll him in online school where we control the accountability. So far, so good.

I have two children who have went to this school for five years now and it does not get any better than this school. The advisors and staff treat my child as one of their own. They really do care about their education and their future in this world. Great school I recommend to anyone who wants the best for their kids.
