The staff act like the school is the White House and the principal and counselor are too busy to speak to you and return calls. They do not care about the children and their situations, they are just working for a paycheck and benefits. If the staff are too busy to speak to the parent about an important issue than that says it all.

This school has been horrible to me and a lot of the other students i see roaming the halls. The constant gun threats just for fun, the rumors about students and teachers alike, And so many other things. There is so much discrimination, and no, no one is welcome unless you are rich and pretty. The students who are low income are ignored completely by peers. The teachers are not helpful when a student is in a horrible life situation at home. The councelors do not give help when a students needs it. Their courses are watered down and low quality, The teachers need to treat the children like actual children instead of criminals. There are actually some good kids at this school, but the teachers punish even the best students. The special education program exists, yes, but all you see around the halls is the special needs students being yelled at by their handlers. Also, this school is not safe. Kids are constantly fighting, and many innocent people are caught in the middle of it.

The administration and teachers at this school are amazing. They hold kids accountable which in todays helicopter parent mindset is bad. Parents are quick to defend their child even though they know their child is a problem. CCSD is an absolute mess and driven by complete incompetency. They dont support the teachers and just hand kids everything they want. The results are selfish and disrespectful students that walk all over the staff. Maybe if more parents took a hard look at the child and taught them respect, schools in this district would be better overall. Desert Oasis is a great school that gets a bad rep because of the horrible school district it is in. CCSD implements rules that in no way benefit the future of its students. Their rules put staff and administration in dangerous situations and at no time support discipline. Its no wonder Nevada is ranked extremely low in education. As usual CCSD just continues to give and give and give hoping for a different result. CCSD is the perfect example of insanity. All the while teachers and students are the ones that suffer. I highly recommend Desert Oasis High School, but if you could avoid CCSD I would.

Some teachers would not care about students going on their phones and all some do is open the videos and get to work. What kind of education are you teaching us? I heard from a friend that teachers are quitting because they just feel like it and they are lazy. They are capable of writing referrals for students if they are disobedient, but some, they don't do that.

My son has been going here since his Freshman year. It's had its ups and downs just like any other school. The biggest issue here is over crowding. There is a new high school going up in Mountains edge next year which will take some of the overcrowding down. However, we suspect that there have been far too many zone variances granted which also causes over crowding. Teachers have so far been great, with the exception of having an over load of students. Admin especially the counselors are excellent and are quick to help students!

Science department is just awful. Teachers in that department are arrogant, and have no clue how to educate their students. No support, no help...would rather fail kids than teach them. If you are looking at a school in LV for a Science department PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not enroll your child at DOHS.

Ms. Miller, an administrator, is the biggest bully. She does not speak to people in a respectful manner, nor does she show fair treatment. She is a poor example of a role model or school figure.

This school is terrible. They are making excuses for not giving the class of 2020 a proper graduation. These kids deserved something more than picking up their diploma in the cafeteria.

My kids love Desert Oasis High School. As a parent, I wanted them to take part in the school's sports and other extracarricular activities that would help them develop as better athletes, and musicians. And, Desert Oasis High School has surpassed our expectations. I have talked to my kids about their experience with the teachers, and they always tell me how much they get out of each honors and advanced placement class. The teachers truly care about the students' success.

Desert Oasis High School has been improved a lost and it has become a great school! The Dean, Principal, Teachers and staff are really great. The outdoor campus is really beautiful. Highly encourage to enroll into this school. They do really care about each and every child.

My daughter started at Desert Oasis this year, 2015-16. She loves the school, she is taking all accelerated courses which I am very impressed with the curriculum. She has been involved with the sports programs which have been so much fun for her and us as well. The students I have heard about on the national and local level are exceptionally kind, and compassionate, along with all of her team mates and friends she has made. They are down to earth, well grounded intelligent young adults. I am proud to have her be a Diamond Back. One last thing the schools team spirit and support of each other is phenomenal.

Desert Oasis High School is the best high school. I've been here for a while and its been alot of fun. Though previous years may not have been as good, this your is great so far. We recently received a brand-new principal. The staff here keeps it as "up-beat" as possible. Teachers here try their hardest to make sure students pass. If you don't understand something, they will continuously explain the subject untill you feel comfortable with it. I feel that Desert Oasis is alot better than other students seem to think. Most students do not see what goes on "behind-the-scenes." The Desert Oasis Staff/ Student Council/ and Honor Society tries their hardest to take care of all of the students, and to keep the school as clean and as enjoyable as possible for the students.

This school cares more on dress code. your gonna call bunch of student and then talk about dress code. teaching is pretty good but why students can't go any besides cafeteria on lunch time. You should give your students free high school life at school. and its their free time so you should let them where do they wanna go. In California students are allowed to go anywhere part of the school. besides that it's all good bout teaching. and stop talking bout dress code. students are getting annoyed of it.

I am a student at Desert Oasis High school i know that D.O is not a bad school in fact i am proud to be there. Yes we have our handfull of fights and the foods not the best but the staff members do seem to care and help Bette us students. That's all we should ask for. And there are no real gang bangers just wannabes.

I was apart of the first graduating class at Desert Oasis in 2010, and I can say by far I am lucky to have attended this school. The programs and extracurricular activities at this school are amazing- from Journalism, Marketing, Business, Mechanical workshops, etc. Having all of these programs sure prepared me (and many other students) for college. Thanks to the commitment and passion of the teachers and staff, I am now attending the University of Southern California (USC). Desert Oasis is a wondering foundation and a spring board to allow your child to succeed in their post secondary education; that is IF they apply themselves while at Desert Oasis. I still live by the school's motto, and surprising found myself quoting it to someone just the other day, "Strike At Every Opportunity!" Love you D.O! [I just had a brief moment of nostalgia, lol!]

There are no gangs at Desert Oasis High School, so, that's a ridiculous claim. It's not the best school, but it certainly isn't the worst. The teachers are outstanding, and they really do care. The people with the problem would be the students. If they're blaming teachers, they should be blaming themselves for poor grades and such. Desert Oasis is doing pretty well, for being in a state that's in the 50th state ranking in all of America..

This is the worst school ever, lots of drugs, gangs, bullying, I had to pull my child out, because the principle would not do anything about the gang activity in this school.
