I'm going to make it very clear that I am NOT a parent and am currently a STUDENT at GCS High School and have been here since Kindergarten. I will not specify who I am or what grade I am in for privacy reasons. I honestly have no idea how I ended up on this forum (probably plain curiosity), but I was heavily disappointed by some of the reviews and I thought I would add my perspective as a student to contrast those of a potentially entitled or disgruntled parent.
Homework: I'm a student, so of course I'm going to complain about the homework. That being said, the stress and amount depends on the course your taking and the teacher you have, but I have not found any course to have unmanageable homework so far. The approach and effectiveness varies from teacher to teacher.
Teachers: Most, if not all, of the teachers at Greenwich Junior-Senior High School are heavily invested in their students, are dedicated to their profession and constantly push for their students success. Most are notably pleasant and all will bend over backwards to help a struggling student catch up or excel.
Leadership: Our principle and vice principle run a tight ship. There is a no nonsense policy and zero acceptance for disruptions, bullying, or any kind of unruly behavior. That being said, both are pleasant people and work hard for the school and overall student success.
Character: The school does its best to mold its students into helpful, encouraging, diligent, reliant, and productive members of society. That being said, the character of a student also heavily depends on their home environment.
Learning differences: I have seen my school invest so much of its resources in to helping those with physical and learning disabilities. I go to school with people who have speech disorders, learning impairments, vision impairments, and so much more. Those who say Greenwich doesn't care about those with learning differences simply don't speak the truth. GCSD invests aids, technology and special classes to help those with disabilities or impairments receive the best quality education possible. I have seen so many graduate to colleges and succeed in both white collar and blue collar jobs.
Bullying: Bullying is not tolerated at all. Physical bullying here is considerably rare for a public school, and those rare incidences are met with swift discipline and punishment. Verbal bullying occurs sometimes, but the school does its best to prevent it from happening to the best of its ability.

it just puts more pressure on the students kids should go to school learn what there suppose to on there time don't take away there time when they are younger with there parents.

when you have teachers that are with special needs kids and they cant handle the situations they are not doing there jobs that we pay good money for as well as the students insurance

They are not very honest about what they say, it is all done behind your back and then they come to you when they have already made there decision about moving them out of district so unfair to the child they should be ashamed of themselves. To punish the child and not follow IEPS shame, shame on you

I find this school to be a joke if you are not in the click and you don't make a lot of money and your not popular, one lies and the others swear to it no matter what happens then you are considered and out cast. WHAT A JOKE

My daughter has a learning disability and I found the teachers and aides to be very caring,encouraging and communication was great. They taught her organizational skills, time management and never let her think for a moment that she wasn't good enough to go on to college. She's now in college to become a nurse

Greenwich Central School is NOT a great school when it comes to knowing how to deal and educate children with learning disabilities....they punish them for their disability, and make them hate school till they drop out.

Greenwich JSHS offers quite a lot for a small school. It has a tremendous FFA program, excellent music program, 8 AP courses, and college credit courses in science, French, Spanish, business and math. The teachers and administration have done a great job emphasizing the importance of graduating All students. One of the best schools in the Capital region.
