I really don't know why this school got such low ratings, my son attended first to 3rd grade there and my daughter attended kindergarten, they both absolutely loved the school and teachers, school holds a lot of fun activities for kids and family to do together, every employees are very friendly. And they use ParentSquare app to communicate between teachers and parents which is very convenient and they respond your message quickly. Yes, it's far away from Fort Drum but my kids were excited about going to school so it made the drive worth it.

All teachers at Antwerp Primary have to have earned a master's degree from a credited college in NY state. They also have to go by the NYS regulations and standards. That means, they cannot teach adding before the curriculum tells them to. They cannot teach a certain science experiment if it is not in the NYS curriculum. They have to teach what they are told to teach. The teachers can be creative and think outside the box and expand on what is being taught. Homework is not a requirement for kindergarten, therefore is not usually given depending on the discretion of the teacher. Antwerp does not have a gifted program. We have a lot of parents come from other states and ask us about one. Our teachers are trained to work with different levels of learning and are trained on how to challenge students who need to be challenged. We feel no student should ever be bored. Also, as far as bullying, a teacher or principal cannot address bullying if it is not brought to anyone's attention. We are a no tolerance district. If you would like to have contact with your child's teacher(s), simply send in a note, e-mail, parent square, call, any communication and he/she will get back to you that day.

There is not a budget for a Gifted & Talented Program

No homework has never been given, which is not such a bad thing entirely. Though, I do wish homework were given at least once in a great while.

This school is more like 30 mins away living on Fort Drum. Extremely poor communication with the Kindergarten teacher my son has. She did not report to me (not even a phone call) of any major injuries my son had during school hours- even when he threw up.
The school also lacks in a Gifted/Talented Program as is is not required in NYS school system. Some of the staff do not work at Antwerp full-time, but there on certain days of the week.

My kids have learned and have grown up and learning through this school. I like it being a small school.

My son is in kindergarten at Antwerp and I am very happy with the staff. His teacher is very involved and has good communication with the parents. The principal is also extremely involved. The only thing negative is the distance. We live on Fort Drum and the bus commute for my son is about 45 minutes.

I am overall happy with my sons experience here at Antwerp!

This page says there are 11 reviews but I can only see four. Why is that? Very bad experience.

A parent's worst nightmare, shame on the entire district staff. They mistreat the military families.

Antwerp is an okay school. The school has a safe and secure setting. However, I often find myself supplementing my sons education because of the weak curriculum. They do a good job exposing students to reading (in my opinion an accelerated pace would not hurt) but they definitely lack in the science and math department. My son's class has not done any science experiment to date. He's missing out on exposure to the vocabulary of that field and explanations for why and how things happen. In the kindergarten class they count but basic math could and should be applied more in the classroom setting. My son often complains of being bored at school because the teacher normally covers only reading and numbers. I wish they would think more out of the box when it came to course content. I think that would improve the school drastically.
