8/10 very good, however the way they promote things aren’t the most effective.

Teachers deal with bullying affectively, but the way the school discourages it is not effective

I had lived in Florida for the past 15 years and my children's education was a constant battle of switching teachers and being put on waiting lists just to get into, "better schools." My children were failing to the point where I pulled them out completely and home schooled. This school so far has been amazing. After failing two grade levels in FL, IR was able to put them back into the grades they were supposed to be in and they are thriving with the exception of Earth Science. My daughters are twins and have two different Earth Science teachers. I wish one of my daughter's would have gotten Mr. Kuba because my other daughter tells me he is more hands on in the science labs, while the other focuses a lot on packets. I've also tried to email the other Earth Science teacher with the email found on the IR website and received no response. Other than this one class, I'm extremely thankful that I can trust these teachers to do their jobs and not have to constantly ask for graded work so that I can go over it with them and reteach. They enjoy the environment, made friends, and have joined several clubs.

As a prior student, attending classes from 7th to 12th grade, I really enjoyed the teachers, class room environment and everything that went with it.
I knew from the 8th grade I wanted a Naval Career was fully supported by the teachers and fellow classmates. It was the best years of my life and I wish I could do it over! I'm a old timer do to the fact I graduated in 1965. It was a excellent school!

My children have been to quite a few schools as we are a military family. While I am pleased with the middle school and the intermediate school, I am not impressed at all with the high school. I feel like I never know what's going on and the teachers don't really seem very involved. My daughter has a learning disability and I don't feel like her needs are being met. She is struggling. She had always been a good student until she started Indian River. I'm certain she will not be going back next school year.

I went to this school from grades 9-10. I had been in the district since 4th grade until I moved because of the military in 2014. The teachers are, for the most part, very fair and fun to be around. There were some that I wished I didn't have, but all schools have those teachers. While in this school I participated on multiple sports teams and in many clubs, which this is always a good way to make friends. I was quite sad to leave the school, but whatever new school you choose to attend, whether you enjoy your time there depends on your attitude about it. The kids at this school are very accepting towards the special needs kids. At the graduation ceremony, the graduating class applauded a young woman with a learning disability when she received her diploma. The students can be cliquey: the jocks tend to stick together and the preppies stick together. However, I've always noticed that new students fit in very easily. Overall, a nice school that can be a great experience.

I am currently a sophmore at Indian River and an Army brat, and this has been one of the best schools I've attended. The classes are intriguing and the teachers really care about helping you understand the lessons. Indian River also offers a wide array of extra-curricular clubs and activities, more than any other school in the area. Everyone is very friendly and accepting of people from other areas of the country and even the world--in fact, we're actually quite fascinated by the latter. I've also noticed that some reviewers have commented on the supposed "special treatment" awarded to athletes or those involved in the theatre and JazzRock programs. Really, they're treated just the same as everyone else, they're just involved in more activities and therefore more known to the teachers. They don't get special treatment. Overall, I love this school and hope that we will stay long enough for me to graduate.
