well, i am a student here, but im changing schools next year so here I go. from my experience i can confidently say that there are not good teachers or students, not all of them are bad. this school does have bullying, racism, violence, and open favoritism to smarter kids, for example some teachers and staff will be nicer to kids who have better grades. for a long time i believed I did not deserve kindness purely because my grades werent perfect, teachers often isolated me and told people they shouldnt be friends with me because I will drag them down into my pit. which hurts me, and then.. I met the good people in kenmore west, I know I cant name names but I wish I could because these people truly deserve recognition for their kindness, they supported me, reminded me Im smart in other ways, and just were genuinely kind. one time, I mentioned I was hungry to one of my friends and the lunch period had already passed, then a boy came up to me and gave me a snack and he said I dont like to see people hungry. and then he proceeded to look through his lunch box and ask me if Id like a drink, that really warmed my heart knowing there is good in this school, a lot of people have changed my perspective in ways I never thought Id be thinking, and thats amazing for a school, but the endless racism, bullying, and violence is truly concerning.. so, I would not recommend this school, its a very diverse school and yet a lot of students are actually switching schools because of said bullying and racism and violence, so if your thinking of sending your kid here or going here yourself, save yourself the hassle and pick a different school

The lack of structure and integrity is easily seen as my child's valuable time is wasted. The years that will shape my child entire life is being filled with time on a cellphone. Breaks from classwork to eat sugary snacks through the entire day are noticed. Teachers are allowed to use the internet in immature, inappropriate, insensitive ways such as intentionally distracting my child by playing emotional scenes from Marley and Me, involving the death of a dog as my child is trying to learn Earth Science. Instead of my child learning during their chores lessons, the lessons are repeatedly canceled and my child is not given make up work, but rather is allowed free time in place of where they should be learning. Also possible that some students are getting more attention than others because of this unpredictable lesson inattentiveness. Children could be failing multiple classes, and they are allowed to stay on their phones during study hall, rather than an adult helping and guiding the student towards a better outcome. They are simply allowed to just be on their phone.

Ive been in Kenmore West for a while and for some background information I am brown so this will vary from other responses. This school isnt that bad although you are treated differently depending on how you look and what you like. I get outcasted from other students because of the things I like and I am not Christian but the ironic part is that all the students or most of them are white and they will spread rumors of you and try talking false things about you if they dont like you. The learning experience is alright since most teachers are understanding but this also varies because for some teachers they will not care if you have a specific phobia or fear such as stage fear and will force you to present or give you a failing grade. This usually happens with more older teachers than younger ones. The emotional support isnt that good as your counselors seem to kind of help but dont really as some teachers seem to favor white students over brown / black students. They will cast you out even if you had nothing to do with a certain fight for example or rumor. Overall the space is alright since most students will be in their own world but you will be socially isolated if you like anything else then what is popular in the school.

This school and district are racist and biased and if you are anything other than white, I STRONGLY SUGGEST you find another district for your family. They go out of their way to justify and protect white children and treat black/brown children like criminals, and they are all too happy to suspend them for a YEAR for nonsense, just to be rid of them, as though our children are disposable!!! SHAME on Kenmore West and KTUFSD

The school has regressed for the past 40 years. Test results are dropping rapidly and slightly below average at best. Furthermore, they lag the expected results projected by socio-economic norms. Over forty percent of students receive reduced or free lunches. Athletic teams, once routinely competitive, are perennial bottom feeders with the exception of the boy's football and basketball programs. Real estate prices are depressed. Crime is up. Do not move here or send your children here, if you value their posterity. This is a union district that pays top dollar to its employees. The taxpayers, such as they are, are getting robbed.

School learning programs based more on passing a test than actually teaching the kids something new. Inalienable rights are being restricted, overall i feel Ken. West could use new teachers and the rumor of west and east combining is absurd.... If it happens my son repeatedly claims he will drop out... Although the school has an outstanding number of clubs and extra curricular activities and a great atmosphere Kenmore west is failing kids based on the tedious work they refuse to use

My daughter had some wonderful teachers who helped her during a difficult time when her father became ill. The school has a diverse student population, many sports and clubs, and overall a great atmosphere. I would say that one teacher Mr. Conrad spoiled the school getting 5 stars. He has no business being a teacher as he does not care about the students or their future. I hope he is removed as a teacher. Now I have to worry about my son who will be a freshman in the fall getting him as a teacher. I will object and have him moved out of his class. But like the old saying goes there is always a bad apple in the bunch. Otherwise I love Ken West!
