The schools quality has deteriorated and struggles to regain its prestigious status it once held. The teachers are overloaded teaching close to 4 different subjects.......not classes, subjects. Some aren't even qualified to teach the subject however are subjected to fill the many slots that are being produced due to all the politics and antics taking place in a once cheerful environment. Even the quality of kids are different as violence seems more tolerated as testing scores become the main focus. I would not recommend this school. ThIs was the closest my child was getting in proximity to a private school, and now I am more willing to consider a public school.

There are a few teachers in my opinion who do not excel in teaching skills and seem to make it harder for students.

Some are ,some are not. The majority of teachers are. There are a few who don't care and it shows.

Not sure where the disconnect is but the leader needs to demand the teachers teach and monitor the statistics of grades and tests

My daughter had one incident back in 1 at grade the dean to me was a pushover and didn’t do much. In 3rd grade they ended up in The same class as her and a problem occurred and he was suspended and placed in another class because it seem to be a pattern with he & my daughter. I had to call out WHO dropped the ball. But they fixed it and I don’t have any complain thus far. She is now in 4th grade.

My daughter receives homework and I actually receive a guide to help me help her with her work. Even when my daughter doesn’t understand I can help her to explain it in a simpler way.

I’ve had awesome experiences with teachers. Easily adaptable. But I will say as she gets older or advances to the next grades the teachers change, which is expected. It’s a work in progress.

Moral focus is a tool used to remind scholars about their capabilities along with their hope and dreams. It helps create a sense of empathy, proudness and respect that at times many of these children are not taught that at home.

Some issues are not assessed with the teachers. Which is sometimes the root of the so connect. But I make sure to stay firm, but open minded about the Interactions between the teacher & I and my child.

On a scale of 1/10 I would say a 8. My child has been exposed to additional learning about her culture, others cultures, she’s learning foreign languages (Spanish and Mandarin) she’s learned and performed the violin, the instill the love of the Arts in our children, Including everyone. It’s a very Culture rich environment to have you children in. All schools comes with challenges. I am a full time working Mom and my child IS my priority, I work with the staff and her teachers to ensure she gets the full 100% of the education I expect her to receive. I’ve read many reviews and all I can say is, My child is my investment and do anything necessary to make sure she has all she need to succeed. I am HER advocate.
As for the testing.... The staff encourage the student to do well. I like that they don’t stress the children, but this is my child’s 2nd year with testing, the minute I see her feeling as if she’s in HS and she needs to pass this test or get left back, and is acquiring all A’s & B’s I will not think twice about opting her out. But so far, so good!

My child was bullied very bad to the point where he did not want to attend school. The teacher did nothing about it. The administration did nothing about it

Like I always say if the leadership at a school is where it should not be then it will trickle down to the staff and students. Hence why so many classes are out of control and some teachers can’t seem to create a decent lesson plan. Some administrators are rude and arrogant I honestly think there are too many of them whom believe they are invincible and don’t have to listen to the parents or teachers

Teachers can not control the class because the students run the school. Many teachers lack the patience needed to build rapport with their students which turns into a out of control classroom. I wonder how they are trained to deal with students who misbehave.

It has deteriorated over the past 3 years. Staff and volunteers needs to be trained in conflict resolution and stop referring to handbook to mete out discipline.

Homework is given regularly. The drawback is that topics given on homework are not discussed in length in the classroom.

They are weak in areas relating to the social aspects of the scholars. Conflict resolution is poor on their part.

Not at all. The method for dealing with bullies here is weak. The student bullied gets the book thrown at them when he decides it's enough of being taunted and bullied. A

Neutral. My daughter is extremely smart so I expect her to excel naturally but after looking at these reviews, the school has a lot of work to do.

I was so disappointed in Riverton that I removed my child. My child's teachers had no idea how to teach. My child complained that he was bored on a regular basis. We basically had to teach him ourselves. I felt the school was very disorganized and the leadership has no passion whatsoever about the children. Every child is a number. Large portions of their grades is based on ridiculous "data" they collect. I had a child that loved school and learning. They churned out a child that hated school totally discouraged. The after school program is terrible and mismanaged. The children were getting no honework help whatsoever. After complaing daily it improved slightly. But it isn't worth the money one bit. I had a huge argument with the dean. I came away feeling like these people are horrific and I can't leave my child here. All I must say is, pulling him out was great for him. He seems like my child again. Happy again. Enjoying school and thriving. I wouldn't recommend this at all.

Teachers Do not teach at an understanding paste for Everyone. Teachers that my son has had cannot control the class. Students are not assisted with work when necessary. Teachers are not effective at this school because they cannot control students . The students that are getting in trouble miss their learning . The students yea do not listen get in the way of the kids who actually listen education

Students Cannot effectively learn. Teachers Put There Hands On Students. Teachers are disrespectful at times. Dirty waterfountain filters. Teachers yell in students face. Things get stolen from lockers . Not allowed to locker after lunch which in ineffective to dismissal times if non riverton uniform cannot be out at anytime.

My kids go to the Riverton Street Charter School. This school is awesome. They not only press for academic excellence but students go away learning morals and values. Go to one of their moral focus meetings in the morning,..it will bring tears to your eyes. My children are excelling in this school academically and socially. I just love this school. The principal, staff, faculty, even the maintenance crew are so pleasant :) This school to me is a blessing from God.

My daughter is currently enrolled in 1st grade, and I appreciate so much the role each and every member of this fine institution play in my child's education. I cannot forget the first day of school every member of the schools team was there to welcome every child on the first day of school("with a smile"), it really touched my heart. Talk about change a change you can believe in well this school has surely reflected that.

Riverton Street charter school is a breath of fresh air. Being a parent who was used to the public school system Riverton brings a diverse change that has been needed within the system for a very long time. Students are called scholars and are immediately introduced to their future; College bound. The teachers are dedicated and work tireless hours to ensure that their scholars are fully equipped with all the tools, knowledge and confidence to reach the stars. The staff is always accommodating and the doors are ALWAYS open. Parents are welcomed to participate 100% in their scholars education with no loopholes. The above is just a snippet of the exceptional contribution this school is providing to the community. I am a fan and a dedicated parent that believes in the schools mission! I and many, many more parents( I'm sure) will agree that we are dedicated to our scholars education and will do anything/everything to help them succeed and we believe that Riverton is setting them on the right path. COLLEGE BOUND!!

Riverton is a Wonderful school. This school provide my children with high standards, awesome teachers and a great curriculum. As soon as you enter through Riverton doors you can feel the great positive atmosphere. The Principal, Teachers and Staff are always there to help. Its common said "It takes a village to raise a child" I'm glad to have Riverton as part of my village.
