I have 2 students in these schools and I do not know what these other negative reviewers are going through with the school but, I have to consider the Maryvale School District one of the top in the area. My children have always been given the extra help they have required over the years, the teachers have all been amazing through 8 years so far, the principals, counselors, admin staff, and anyone that you speak with about anything are all great. My 2 students have required extra help since entering school and there has never been any issue getting it. Even with issues with other students, once I have reported it, the situations are remedied. Great school system.

If you can get your child to tell you when something or someone is bothering you, as soon as you report it, it is taken care of. Don't be afraid to call the guidance counselors with your issue, they squash anything that even resembles bullying.

As I said, both of my kids have needed extra services every year and they wouldn't be as far as they are without them. The special services area admins are awesome, the school psychiatrists are phenomenal, the nurses are spectacular, and the aides in the rooms are not just aides, they are like parents.

The principals are there if you need them. You don't hear about bullying, fights, or crime at these schools. They hold students accountable for their actions and they back their teachers instead of cowering to the parents of the child.

There's been social issues that my kids have had through the grades, and the methods the teachers have used to help develop social skills and self esteem have worked wonders. My one kid is a totally different person at school than he is at home. The teachers and admins talk about this kid that if they didn't say that it was my kid, I wouldn't know who they were talking about.

They are receptive, hard working, they care, are compassionate and go the extra mile, I have only run into a couple who I have had slight issues with but the squeaky wheel gets the grease, keep on them.

Sometimes they need to make a note of homework given or keep the teacher pages up to date on what is due and when, the kiddos don't always remember everything and then you're chasing teachers to see if they'll allow makeups to be handed in.

My son has gone here for the last three years (grades 2, 3 and 4). We have not had a good experience nor has my son. Recess is non-existent, physical education classes consist more of rule making than actual physical activity. I have reached out on several (dozens upon dozens of times) occasions to teachers (main teacher, ELA, music, etc) via email and nothing gets answered. Principal is engaged with parents and students, but it stops there. We are moving for my son's 5th grade next year, and I'm so thankful for that!

The children are not allowed recess. The parents are not encouraged to interact with the school. Music classes such as chorus/band are held after school but only 1 day/week for 1 hour. My son has made friends, but simply hates school because he is incredibly bored. They put him in special ed...even though he has a very high IQ. He has no interest in the work they give him. Plus he now has severe test anxiety! As soon as we can make enough money, I will be sending him to a private school.

This school does nothing to help my child learn. My son is constantly bullied by several other children and nothing is being done about it. I have seen my child go from happy and full of life to depressed and anti-social in just a matter of 2 years. The classroom sizes are way too high. over 25 students to a class. Both my son and myself have needed counseling from the stress this school has caused . I am either taking him out of this school or moving. No way am i sending him there another year.

This school is one of the best and helps students interact with others around them!! The teachers help the students understand concepts and the principal has monthly school meetings scheduled for the students, teachers and parents. Two parent teacher confrences are scheduled throughout the year. After school activities are available for students to join. The music program is EXCELLENT and really should be given more attention!! I love this school!!
