Children have a daily homework log and many teachers utilized apps thst allow open communication with parents.

I have both typical children and special needs children and the teachers have been wonderful.

The new principal is understanding of special needs and services they need to succeed. Support staff are goid st making sure things like bullying do not go unchecked.

So much better than Niagara Street school. Abate treats their special needs children with dignity and respect.

We have had an overall good relationship with the school

They further victimize the victim and their family. They make the student feel he/she has no one they can turn to.

This school is unsafe, lacks proper supervision and children are not learning well here.

Posted: January 31, 2017

For the most part, they scream at the students, belittle and are rude when calling parents.

Posted: January 31, 2017

They don't have text books and the math is extremely confusing for a college graduate.

The staff is not professional. If your child gets bullied, it falls on deaf ears. For two yrs my child has felt he has NOONE to turn to in that school. My son has been assaulted repeated by one particular student and for months I have requested a meeting with the school, asked the counselor to speak with my child because psychologically, educationally and physically, my child has been affected. They did nothing. The counselor did not even meet with my child as requested. Last Thursday my son came home crying, stating the same child that kneed him in the face, repeatedly makes fun of him and hits him, slapped him across the face again. Friday morning, on the way to school, I saw him and told the boy to keep his hand off my son or I will get his big brother to bully him so he can see what Nas feels like. The school called me and at the end of the conversation I was told the police were being called on me, then he hung up the phone. I pulled both my sons out of this school and now I am dealing with the district. This school is unsafe, lacks supervision, does not make children nor parents feel that their children are in a safe and healthy environment. By all means, avoid this school at all costs. I have a 16 yr old son and have moved quite a bit, so I have dealt with numerous schools, never in my life have I experienced such unprofessional interactions with staff or sheer lack of responsibility for what happens on their watch. I was the one who fought for safer dismissal procedures, I met with Mrs Jones when I first enrolled. The following yr she listened, but overall, if you are a good parent, you do not want to trust this school with your child's education.

Teachers are great but the administration could use a lesson in manners! I could rant but I feel that this is enough said. I thought the administration was sweet when I first got there. It didn't take more than a month to see it was all an act. My daughter is in the accelerated program, The stories I could tell. Homeschooling may be a better option at this point! THAT is how bad it is.

I'm not sure if I could accurately evaluate this school because my daughter is in the enrichment program. It's my understanding that the enrichment cohort is contained seperately from the rest of the school. As such, I have never had a problem with the school and I really like the principal, Mrs. Jones.

My children go to Harry F Abate Elementary and this is by far the worst school I have ever seen. Wish there was a way I could take my kids out of that school today! Please don't enroll there, this school needs to be taken over by the state!

Dangerous school. Parents bring their dogs(Pit Bulls) to pick up their kids. The staff walked right past the dog and yelled at some boys for climbing on rocks. There were 3 fights in one week in front of the school. I have had to break up fights because adults are rarely present. I heard a school worker tell a boy to leave or she would choke him. However, if your child is in the accelerated program like mine, it is awesome. The teachers are enthusiastic and love their job, but is it easy to teach kids who want to learn.
