Take an interest in individual students. One Social Studies teacher allowed my son to spend free time in his office as my son read the Wall Street Journal. This teacher encouraged my son to learn .

The homework isn't too challenging, but that depends on the classes you take.

The teachers at Scotia-Glenville Senior High School care deeply about their students. They're willing to give up free time and stay after school to help their students, and they sometimes even take part in student clubs and organizations.

One of the hallmarks of Scotia-Glenville High is the GIVE program. Named after Governor Mario Cuomo's Governors Initiative for Volunteer Excellence, a former state initiative designed to encourage service learning in high schools. Run by students and coordinated by perhaps the kindest man I've ever met, the program allows students to volunteer in the community, such as feeding the misfortunate at the Schenectady City Mission and walking abandoned dogs from the Montgomery County SPCA. By volunteering in the community and helping others, the program allows students to develop a strong moral character. The student directors are the most compassionate, who are willing to lend a hand if you need help or an ear if you are in the dumps. SGHS athletes treat each other like one huge family, looking out for each other like brothers and sisters.

The school offers a program for students with learning disabilities. Known as Equilavent Instruction, the program offers a simplified but not dumbed down curriculum as well as a class that prepares them for careers.

The parent who stated that the school allows bullying to go on is 100% correct. I have reported several incidents to admin and absolutely nothing was done until I contacted the superintendent directly. Do not send your child here!

This school allows bullying to go on. When administration is alerted they never get back to the parents. The school is building a reputation of being a "rough school " The same way of teaching and activities are done year after year and they never seem to reach outside the box to challenge the students. Looking for another school to send my children. Recommend not to send your children to this school!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scotia-Glenville is a good example of a community centric school district. It's size and history provides an ongoing civics experience. The school provides academic excellence, a safe environment and opportunities to participate in a wide variety of interests. Local organizations and residents have consistently supported the schools. Students have responded with high graduation rates, outstanding musicals, award winning artwork and winning sports teams. ( Scotia-Glenville's undefeated Boys basketball was 2014 NYS champions & are on track to repeat in 2015)

Everyone knows everyone, it's an amazing school. The teachers make it amazing with what little they have to work with. Who ever says this school isn't great doesn't know what they're talking about. It's like a family, the classes are small, so the friendships and relationships built throughout our four years here are stronger than ever. I want my kids to attend this school, it's that great.
