I am among recent alumni of this horrible school. The principal is a horrible miserable human that doesnt care about what the parents have to say about anything. Her leaving this school is the best thing that will ever happen there i am so glad that she is gone and future 8th graders do not have to put up with her. The religion teacher for third grader is also another one that needs to go. Shes a cruel person that belittles people. I have so many things I can say about this school and most of them are not pleasant, for the sake of this comment being short i will not go into detail. Happy to be out of here and to start a new brighter chapter at a better school!

We changed to this school because of the school we were at didnt have a great principal or reading program. Our child went from being 2 years behind in reading to above grade level all in one year by switching to this school. The principal is great, sad she is leaving. There is respect and appreciation to the teachers and principal. Our daughter is extremely excited going to school every day.

I have no idea where I start, because we have been at this school, and loved it,until last year and this year. I made the hard decision to remove my child from this school ,due to an ongoing issue with the the teacher (5th and 6th) grade. I removed him a week ago. He and I are very hurt on what happened. When you have a child in tears ,out of control upset, something isn't right. We asked for meeting with 5th grade teachers and principal,it was scheduled. We went to meeting ,with my child,as my child was going to respectfully explain to the 5th grade teachers what's on,to make a plan to better help everyone involved. The teachers never showed up to meeting.We said ok, let's schedule another date if they can't come down today. We where told they won't sit in meeting to try and figure out what's going on with them and my child. My child is as been out of control crying, having severe anxiety about something that happened. For what ever reason these teachers and principal refused a meeting all together to figure a better plan and for my son to explain what's going on. My child continued to be physically upset and refusing to go to school. My child was scared. I started homeschooling hoping Queen of heaven would have been. They never did. The social worker would talk to him about things and when it wasn't she wanted to hear about the teachers she deverted trying to get him to say things about Mom and dad.ex. "Do you remember when you were young and mom and dad lived together". Mom and Dad my not live togethet,but we remain close friends and and do things with our child. I told both the principal and social worker to stop deleting the real issue and something about the two teachers that did what they. Next day I received a phone call from CPS. They came down and understood what was going on ,and said I had every right to pull my child,and homeschool or put him somewhere else. The school needs to take ownership in what happened. I believe in forgiveness, and my faith but I also believe these two teachers should have been immediately put on leave or fired. And I think if this school wants to make change for the better,they need a new principal. My child is hurt and heartbroken over this,not seeing the friends he's played basketball with,etc..what happened in that nurses office with principal and teacher was disturbing and unexceptionable!! It's time for Queen of heaven to have change in some staff and principal. U hurt my child!!

As a parent, I had high hopes for QH and was especially drawn to the promise of small class sizes and individualized attention. Unfortunately, our experience has raised serious concerns, particularly around communication and the handling of our sons emotional and physical well-being.

Our child, who is typically outgoing and happy, has become withdrawn and anxious over the past month, frequently expressing fear of approaching the teacher. The teacher enforces a Big/Little things rule that discourages students from sharing anything that isn't deemed a "big issue." Additionally, she implements a policy where the class loses their dance break if there are 10 interruptions, which places undue stress on young children. This rule, along with our child describing the teacher as "a little bit scary," has contributed to an environment that we feel is negatively impacting his mental health.

Despite reaching out multiple times about these concerns and specific instances of bullying, both the teacher and administration have been slow to respond. Messages regarding our child's experiences, including visible signs of anxiety like picking at at his arms causing wounds , went unanswered for days. This lack of responsiveness and care for a young childs well-being is deeply troubling. It shows they are dismissing major concerns that multiple professionals feel need addressed.

We believe every child deserves a supportive, open environment where they feel safe to share their thoughts and concerns. If you are considering QH for your child, I strongly encourage you to inquire about classroom communication practices and behavioral policies in advance. Also , to meet both teachers for said grade before commiting to the school.

I am a recent alumni from this school. I am aware that every experience is different, and I know many people who enjoyed going to this school. I would just like to share my opinion. I had gone to this school my entire life and enjoyed it thoroughly as a child, despite the fact that the principal scared me immensely. She was extremely snippy and rude with all of the kids, and never empathized with them or cared about their feelings. She would yell at you before even thinking or asking about a situation, and she openly showed favoritism. She would discuss students negatively, and even treat some teachers with disrespect. Not only that, but she would not take proper action when any complaints or concerns were made by parents. Overall, there are many good teachers, but there are a few that I believe the school would be better without. If your child struggles with math, I do not recommend this for middle school. The math teacher is seen as horrible by many and has received multiple complaints (all of which ignored by the school). Once you get into the higher grades, this school gives you outrageous expectations, and puts immense pressure on the students to prepare for highschool. Personally, this has affected me long term. Even though I do good in school, it is because of this perfectionism and stress I received from always thinking I need to be better. This is not healthy. If your child is sensitive mentally or academically, I do NOT recommend this school. This school promotes safety for the children from bullying and violence, however, I don't believe this is entirely accurate. Bullying is very common, at least in my experience it was, because of the social expectations. There are very few students, leading to an expected similarity in all of them. If you have a different body count, different interests, different ways of socializing, it can be difficult to be included. Cyberbullying is a huge factor. I believe that the insane standards and rules that this school promotes is a big lead to rebellion, and many of these things are not obeyed behind the teachers backs. Finally, I believe that this school can lead to poor socialization. Not being around different people and situations can lead to not knowing what will come ahead and behind hyper judgmental of others that are different. Again, not every experience is the same. I just wish for you to choose wisely. Take the pros and cons into consideration, and never be scared to leave according to YOUR KIDS needs.

I am a recent alumni from queen of heaven school. This school was amazing. I love the staff I loved my friends however, the principal was terrible. She made me cry. She was so strict, so uptight so rude she told teachers straight to their faces the kids that she didnt like and students heard about it and I was one of those people. I found out she didnt like me and she always held a grudge against me from one thing that I did I was always a good kid good grades, but she stereotypes you and once youre stereotyped in her brain, youre never going to get out of it. I do not recommend the school because if you do one harmless thing, you will have a grudge against you forever she does not let you have your own say the drama that goes on between the staff there is crazy and she doesnt do her job the way that she should.

I am just a few months in here and its been such a great experience having my boys learn here. Lots of room for parents to get involved and the parents here CARE. Its not your average school. Very structured environment for the kids. Academically rigorous and challenging. This is truly a place to have your children learn and GROW. I can already see the fruit of my children being in a strong, structured environment. I volunteer here with some of the kiddos and you can just tell that they are raised differently by parents who invest time and energy into them. Highly recommend this place for anyone interested. Did my research and so glad I chose this school. I feel great about sending my boys here.

As a parent, I absolutely love this school! The only complaint I would lodge is how the principal seems to handle covid. She is rigid and ridiculous when it came to masking. I am grateful though it was one of the only schools that was open during the entire debacle NY public schools for the pandemic and the loss of learning on our poor kids. The principal seems to have the school in a cohesive, well disciplined rule, which I can appreciate bc I think routine, and order is important to run a successful school. I do see though a lot of disheartened teachers, and high turn over rate, which may be the result of her inability to critically think and look and hear input of others. It doesn't seem like a school that enjoys teacher input, and is ruled by her iron fist. I know my child was sad to lose to many teachers, and I've heard it's bc of the way she dictates the school. The benefit for the kids though is great. They learn a whole lot, and build them into critical thinkers. I see the advancement of my child versus children in public school. They are light years ahead. I hope maybe the principal tries a more inclusive approach this year.

I highly recommend the Q to any perspective parents! My family has been a part of the Q family for many years! My children have grown in their fantastic academic program, the stellar athletic program and most importantly in their Catholic faith! The faculty and staff really have the students best interests at heart. Im glad we made the choice of Queen of Heaven years ago!

As a teacher at Queen of Heaven, I cannot say enough great things about this school! The students and families are fabulous- great kids who come from supportive homes. The staff are so supportive to one another and the administration is great with helping and guiding you whenever you ask. If youre looking for a great school to be a part of, as an educator or as a family, I would highly recommend Queen of Heaven!

I do not recommend this school. Most of the teachers in this school are wonderful but receive very little support or guidance. There is rarely a thank you given from what I could see. The principal has created a very rigid environment that doesnt welcome new ideas, feedback or concerns (from staff or parents). She lacks any kind of concern or empathy for her staff, and instead focuses on what more they can do for her. How she addresses the students is joyless, she rarely has a genuine smile on her face. At times she can be seen publicly humiliating a student. Its a shame this is one of the few Catholic School choices, as it embodies Catholic values in a very superficial way.

This is for prospective educators that are looking to apply to this school. Queen of Heaven has many great teachers, students, and families. However, the administration of this school does nothing but micro-manage its hard working staff. The principal (initials MD) plays favorites and will be kind to your face and then blindside you at the very last moment. She does not embody the values of kindness and caring that she preaches, as she is only about the bottom line. She will not take any constructive criticism and when she asks for your opinion, she just wants "yes" people. If you have a backbone and a voice, she will turn on you very quickly. If the school is teaching "catholic values" then she teaches hypocrisy. I have worked in many schools (public and private) and never have I witnessed backstabbing and unprofessionalism to this degree. I would not recommend this school to any prospective educator. The turn over rate of teachers is a prime example of this.

Queen of Heaven is an excellent school and has been for many years. I am a member of the school community and have had both of my boys graduate from this school. They were very much prepared for private high school and continue to return to Queen of Heaven to visit their former teachers. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a small classroom environment, caring/educated teachers and staff, and the rigor most schools lack.

Queen of Heaven School is a nurturing environment for children from preK all the way to eighth grade. Both of my children started at Queen of Heaven in preK and they have loved every minute of it. The teachers are caring, have wonderful communication with parents, and there are a lot of events to include families. We chose Queen of Heaven because we know the value of receiving a Catholic education and know both of our children are learning academics and life skills from their teachers. The administration communicates great with parents and provides weekly updates so everyone is on the same page.

My son started preschool this year and I am absolutely amazed at what they are doing! He knows over 50 sight words and is doing simple addition and subtraction though 10. He loves being able to go to specials (art, music, STEM) and loves having gym everyday. Queen of Heaven has an extraordinary preschool program!

Choosing this school for our children was the worst mistake of our lives. The principal is mean sprinted, unapproachable and could careless about the actual welfare of the students. She has a survival of the fitesf mentality and does nothing to foster an environment of kindness, compassion or respect. For years, complaints have been made to the pastor of queen of heaven as well as the diocese of Buffalo and so many good families have left because of her. She does not embody any of the characteristics that a parent would expect from a catholic school principal but apparently, as everyone has known for ages, queen of heaven only cares about their carnival and making money so any complaints have always fallen on deaf ears. Hoping to pull my children out for next year because Im absolutely disgusted by the actions of the principal and the lack of teaching that seems to be happening at the school this year as well.

We have had three kids at this school. We have been here 10 years and still have one child there. I would definite not recommend this school anymore. Although no school is perfect and each will have different areas of concern, this school is just bad now. The principal is condescending, controlling, unqualified per her credotials and experience to even be a principal. She screams at children and has teachers uncomfortable. There were 5 teachers last year and 10 this year. That speaks for itself. Yes some leave for higher pay, ours leave to get out. The Spanish and religion are good at our school. It ends there. The periods and amount of math went from 126 minutes every other day to 70 minutes every other day. They had 3 science teachers last year. The people they bring in more times then not have no experience or no recent experience. 6 years ago I would have said it's great. We have a sense of community and kids love it. Now I'd say most hate it, there's definitely no sense of community and the principal is the cause of most of it. No one school or principal is perfect, but outbursts and screaming at kids is just not acceptable. If you tour and think it's great and how wonderful she is, give it two weeks at school to see her at face value. Btw I have straight A students who have never once been in trouble, in the office, detention or demerit. For my well behaved and respectful kids to feel the way they do something is wrong. If the surrounding schools hadn't closed our enrollment would be 150 at best. It was 180 when they closed 10 schools and enrollment doubled. Unfortunately there isn't many choices for catholic education therefore so many of us our forced to stay. Truthfully from an academic standpoint our kids would probably be better educated at most suburban public schools. Have told close friends and family with young children when asked, that no I wouldn't recommend. I encourage you live where there is a good school district if possible. Very sad how it's changed over the years. Can't count fast enough the days til my last son is done. Good luck!

Our daughter has thrived at Queen of Heaven. She enjoys the many, inclusive after school activities, and is doing well in math, reading, art and Spanish. This school is a supportive, family-like atmosphere and is a wonderful place for a child to grow and learn.

After leaving another local and highly-rated Catholic K-8 school over severe academic and leadership concerns, we were optimistic, yet leary, that Queen of Heaven would be the "fix" to all the shortcomings that we had experienced.

I am beyond happy to report that it has fulfilled our every wish and then some. The current principal (the reviews below seem dated) is a fantastic leader. She is on her employees like white on rice. She is outcomes-driven and evidence-based. She imposes truly challenging work but integrates academic intervention services (AIS) for ALL children, several days per week, so that each is differentiated and receiving what they deserve (i.e. If your child reads above grade level they are placed in reading groups a grade level up on AIS days; if they are behind or struggling with a certain concept, they are worked with one-on-one to achieve mastery).

We currently have three early elementary children enrolled, and one of the things we love MOST is that this school is not all math and ELA. Daily, they are exposed to science, social studies, religion, foreign language, and technology. They are allowed free playtime. They also receive typical specials like art and gym. Many children will not have regular exposure to these additional subjects until they are well into elementary school, due to a large preoccupation with math and ELA, but Queen of Heaven starts them in Kindergarten.

There are additional engineering clubs, science clubs, sports, and lots of opportunities to expose your children to service outreach - to build responsibility, compassion and empathy.

Communication with parents is the best we've seen. There are weekly emails from the principal, school secretary, and teachers update class websites weekly, respond promptly to emails and even use text alerts to send out messages and notices. They are always available for extra academic help or a parent conference.

The children are kind and well-disciplined. We have not encountered any behavioral problems or bullying and trust that such behavior, if it occurred, would be dealt with swiftly. Again, the principal is a stern but fantastic leader.

We could not be happier with our choice and highly recommend this school for all of the abovementioned reasons and more!

We have been involved with the school for over ten years and have not encountered any of the issues stated in other reviews. One child is now in high school and is thriving academically and socially thanks to being so well prepared in elementary school. Our other child is in 7th grade and enjoys his time at school. The sports program is fantastic and the new principal has instituted many programs to encourage academic excellence. I encourage every parent who is searching for a new school to ignore the negative comments from a disgruntled few and make up your own mind with a visit to the school.

On Wednesday,my family had the rug pulled out from under us. We were informed that our school is being closed. It was devastating news. Today, I visited Queen of Heaven School looking for a new school for my children. I was immediately welcomed by warm, caring people. I thoroughly enjoyed my tour of their facility and was impressed with both the Computer and Chrome labs. They offer many extra-curricular activities for the students. Upon completion of my tour and my conversations with both faculty members and the principal, I registered my children on the spot! As difficult as this experirnce has been, I know I have found my new "family" at Queen of Heaven School! I strongly urge all families going through this difficult process to visit Queen of Heaven. You'll be glad you did!

Queen of Heaven is a great school. Many of these negative reviews are very old. I have found nothing other than a school community who is more like family. My children love Queen of Heaven, especially the art teacher. She has done wonders for this school. The extras that are provided such as the Bell Choir and before and after care are amazing. this is truly a dedicated group of professionals who love the students and love to teach. The new principal is also a breath of fresh air.

This school is very good for academics and as a student the teachers are very friendly and love to teach us about matscience etc... but BULLING is such a big problem DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN to this school. In theJunior High people are bullied every day (my self encluded) and the teachers and principal do nothing about it we had got a new prinicpal and he was "Let go" (asked to leave for no good reason) and they got a new principla a wekk ago so maybe this will change but sadly right now the only good thing comeing out of this school is acdemics noting else.
