We regret sending our daughter to this school. The teaching is incompetent and the kids are unprepared for exams. A significant problem is that the administration wants all the students learning an IB curriculum, but the teachers are not skilled or knowledgeable enough to teach IB courses and are resisting the change. They simply teach regents or AP material instead and don’t care that their students are failing or nearly failing the IB exams. You won’t get anywhere trying to advocate for changes. They simply don’t want to get better as a school.

The school provided very little for students beyond showings of effort with no action. The administration functions like a clique. If you do not fit in their box they will make it clear and treat you accordingly. Additionally, the school pushed students of limited financial means to apply for expensive colleges so it would look good on their stats. Guidance counselors actively discouraged community colleges or state schools. As a 17 year old, I wish I had known I did not need to spend 30k my first year of undergrad.

Totally grateful as a family that we chose Sacred Heart over the other local private schools.

Homework is appropriate in amount and appropriateness to current lesson. Only a couple of my daughters teachers give homework over weekends and breaks.

Posted: November 16, 2019

All have been available when extra help or questions to clarify homework when needed. (once even at 9pm via email)

The answer to this question is exactly the reason my daughter (and me as a parent) chose this school after my daughter shadowed at the 3 other schools as well.

We have had all positive interaction with administration.

I believe teachers have been available and supportive when struggling in a class.

We have not encountered this as a problem at all.

Leadership is essentially nonexistent. The staff thinks they are hight and mighty in comparision to parents and students. It is a saddening feeling. With the exception of Stu-Co, the school, while its numbers might look good, make no progress. Teachers act like they care about student input, but then they give hours of homework, test subjects not learned in class, and act surprised when their students are frustrated in class.

The only difference is students with learning differences are given more time on tests and tested in different locations. There is no aid.

Many girls have been bullied by other girls or staff. When brought to the attention of counselors or teachers, they act, again, like they hear you. Then nothing is done to deescalate the situation. It is essentially like a bunch of politicians telling high school aged girls whatever they want to hear, and then they never follow through.

I transferred in from Nardin Academy highschool, and I regret it so much. The staff is unavailable for help, they refuse to let you drop classes you struggle in, it is ridiculous the amount of rules given and discipline instilled for small infractions. Send your daughter ANYWHERE else. Her 4.0 GPA will turn into a 2.5 in a snap.

The amount of homework given is absurd. I understand in undergraduate school you might get loads of work and be expected to time manage. However, in college, students do not have classes every day. With honors and APs pushed and loadeded onto students, I spend 8-10 hours on homework a night.. if I even do it all. Most students save work for the rare study hall or homeroom.

Teachers play favorites and grade accordingly in some cases. Additionally, many remain unavailable for extra help even if sought out. It seems many teachers do not have any idea as to what theyre talking about, or they speak at a much higher level and get frusturated when students aged 14-18 do not understand.

I think because of the absurd amount of rigor, the girls learn to cope and manage themselves. They realize that nobody in the school is really there to help, so they have to figure it out themselves or drown.

My 2 daughters have been educated at Sacred Heart and we are very happy with their education and readiness for college. My 1st daughter is through college and graduate school and has a very successful career. My next daughter is graduating this year and received several scholarships to college. Both of them have wonderful friends from Scared Heart. The education and discipline at Sacred Heart has been wonderful and creates a very good learning environment. I would highly recommend Sacred Heart!

There is too much pressure to meet up to the"higher standards" the school requires. It's not worth it.
