As a mother, what am I supposed to think?

My son reports that he was repeatedly compared to George Floyd, called the N-word, and targeted throughout the school year.

The student he says made those comments is still permitted to participate in sports, school activities, and graduation.

My son, however, has been been removed from those opportunities and told he cannot walk at graduation.

If fighting is truly the reason, why does accountability appear to be different for each child?

Why were repeated concerns about racial harassment seemingly ignored?

Why does the child who reported being targeted appear to be facing the harshest consequences?

And when the other child's parent works at the school, how can families not question whether every student is being treated equally?

Those are the questions I still do not have answers to.

Amazing school with a great Principal who is very hands-on and involved. My son graduated from here and onto kellenberg. He had the best foundation from notre dame.

This is my son's first year at Notre Dame School. He loves it, prefers it over public school. He has better focus and excels academically everyday. The teachers and principal are responsive and dedicated to the children's education and well-being.

We are so happy with Notre Dame school and beyond happy with all our experiences there to date. We currently have our 2 daughters enrolled. Our oldest is now ready to graduate 8th grade. Even during Covid, our principal, assistant principal, teachers and staff have done everything to make the school a safe place while still allowing the children to be with their peers.
Notre Dame school is a fantastic environment....not only for the outstanding education but also for our family. Our daughters have made amazing friends and we have been blessed that we can also now call all the parents our friends as well. The bond between the school, church and families is one that we hope everyone gets to experience.

I attended Notre Dame and now my three children all attend. The students here know they are part of a larger family. Notre Dame offers an excellent education in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Their early childhood program is particularly impressive!

Notre Dame is more than a school, it is a community. Mrs. Durkin and Mrs. McCarthy have made a safe and caring environment for our children, especially during the pandemic. The teachers are wonderful and their doors are always open. Our children have thrived here and are so thankful to Notre Dame!

There are few words that could express the gratitude I have for ALL who are a part of Notre Dame School. This pandemic has taken a toll on so many and the staff at Notre Dame has taken the time and care to help our children have a sense of normalcy, a great education and a safe place to thrive in an uncertain time. But its not just the outstanding handling of the pandemic, it is the overall caring spirit of this school community. Going above and beyond seems to be the norm for this staff!!! If you want your children to receive an outstanding education as well as watch your them grow into well-rounded young people who are confident in both academics and spirit, you cant lose with Notre Dame!!!!

Notre Dame is a wonderful school with experienced and caring teachers. The students use a variety of technology tools to further enhance their learning. Learning at Notre Dame is exciting and fun, students love their school. My son graduated 2015 and my daughter is in the school now. Notre dame has a excellent curriculum. The teachers go above and beyond to help the students. Mrs Durkin is the principal , she is a wonderful person. They have been full time this whole year. They have done a great job keeping the school clean and sanitized. Each desk has a desk shields for the student safety.
They have many events and fun activities for the children even during these covid times.
Notre Dame School wants to bring some normalcy to the students .
I am so happy with Notre Dame School, I would not want my children to go any where else!

My kids have attended NDS since PreK and it is the best decision we have ever made. My daughter, now in high school, was incredibly prepared to tackle the demanding classes of high school and receives rave reviews for her writing and math skills.

The NDS teachers are excellent and they get to know your children on a personal level which helps them to excel. The administration is top notch and very welcoming. There is a sense of community at NDS that is not found elsewhere.

Highly recommend Notre Dame School. I have 2 boys that graduated and went on the get honors in High School and College. I am back in 1st grade a few years later snd I still would recommend Notre Dame. Academically and socially the standards are high. Kindness is taught and shared. I am so glad all my kids are benefiting from a wonderful education at Notre Dame. Thank you.

It's the best decision we ever made for our 4 children. We have been a part of the Notre Dame family for close to 15 years. We love the teachers and administrators and thanks to them for so far (4th child is currently in 6th grade) 3 Full Scholarships to Catholic High Schools.

Been a parent at this school for 15+ years. Very happy with the curriculum and teachers. The building is well maintained and equipment/devices are state of art and updated for children. Good sense of diversity and respect of such among students. Junior high prepares students very well for high school years. School is welcoming to new students and I notice that new students acclimate and adjust well. My children were always happy to come to school each day

Notre Dame School was the best school decision we have made for our children to date. The level of education my children receive is above expectations and having the religious education incorporated into their daily routines is helping to shape my children morally. It feels more of a family than it does an education institution. The work they have done since the Pandemic began a year ago is nothing short of extraordinary! They havent missed a beat and were/are able to constantly adapt to our ever changing world.

Cooperative activities (Buddy Program, Field Day Picnics, Extra Curricular Activities, Afterschool Enrichment) bring all students together so a bond has been established. All the students genuinely like each other.

So far, fantastic. Notre Dame is a wonderful school. It really provides a nurturing, intellectually stimulating environment for my children. My children love going to school, and I love the different programs (foreign language beginning in Kindergarten, STEAM/STEM courses, field trips, technology, plus a back to basics approach to learning that rivals (and surpasses) most public schools.

Programs in Notre Dame (as well as joint activities with Notre Dame Church) provide character building activities for the children. All the children in the school really like each other. They are taught to cheer and support each other.

While the curriculum is challenging, there is no stress placed on the children. Learning how to learn becomes the priority, not learning in order to score a level 2 or better on a state test. With that in mind, students with learning disabilities are provided with Resource Room plus speech and OT.

Notre Dame has been one of the best choices that we have made for our children. Not only do they receive an excellent education, they are in an environment which fosters love and compassion for others. The school is beautifully maintained, and they offer many programs and extra curricular activities. The faculty and staff take a genuine interest in each child. It is a friendly and caring community that is wonderful to see and take part. Great school!

Wish I could give more than 5 stars. My kids always say that they wish they could go back to Notre Dame and how they miss that school. My last daughter is in 8th grade, her last year there, and she is very sad. Mrs Durkin and the test of the staff and administration really know how to make the school an amazing experience. My girls and her friends looked forward to learning everyday and loved the teachers. She was so close to everyone at that school and misses it so much. Never take your years at Notre Dame for granted, they are your family and it is an amazing journey going to that school. Amazing school. MAKE A NOTRE DAME HIGH SCHOOL!!!!

Wish I could give more than 5 stars. Can't even tell you how much all 3 of my children adored this school. My 2 girls in high school always say how much they miss every single thing about Notre Dame: teachers, friends, principal, events, everything. My last daughter is in 8th grade, and is very sad to be almost done at Notre Dame. My daughters and her friends looked forward to going to school and seeing their teachers and friends everyday. It is an amazing school, and an amazing environment for anyone. Notre Dame really does become a home away from home and everyone becomes your family. This is a school that my daughters and their friends love to visit whenever they can and are so proud to say they went to Notre Dame. MAKE AN ND HIGH SCHOOL PLEASE!!!

Great. The graduating 8th grade class were ALL accepted into Catholic high schools and had the highest years of scholarships then in previous years. This is in no doubt to the emphasis by teachers and administrators to keep the kids well educated.

Notre Dame School focuses entirely too much on "technology" i.e. blogging, google maps, discussion groups. I frankly would prefer more emphasis on what I was taught to be the 3 R's which is from the old school - reading,writing and arithmetic. I am not a physician however I can still realize and fully appreciate the basic need for education for our children. Simply put - lighten up on the technology and the high volume of homework assignments which take far too much time to to complete after school and are\ especially burdensome to those of us who do not have the luxury of bring a stay at home parent.

I, as a physician, understand the importance of education providing a foundation for one's success later in life. I see the students from all the regional schools within my practice and always note the maturity and pose the Notre Dame students demonstrate. I truly believe that Notre Dame provides a superior education and instills a sense of responsibility we all have for one another. The staff and teachers are always approachable and take a genuine interest in the education and welfare of their students. My wife and I could have selected any school for my son, we chose Notre Dame for all the above reasons.

Notre Dame was a great elementary school and definitely provided structure and discipline while growing up. I would like to see the curriculum improve slightly to be more in line with what the students in the public school elementary schools are learning. Overall, I learned great techniques on how to study and prepare for exams which I used during my high school years.

We have 2 children at this school and it was the best decision we ever made. You cannot compare the warm and caring feeling you immediately sense at the school. I attended the local public schools and have never experienced this feeling in a public school. Our family's values are reinforced at the school. They are taught respect, public speaking, confidence, love and caring for others and charity, The teachers give so much of their personal time and not guided by union rules. Our teachers attend family school events, meetings and weekend school events. Academics are strong and most of children attend the top Catholic High Schools. If you are considering a Catholic education, take a tour of the school to confirm this review. An extra bill every month is not an easy task but we view it as an investment in our children's foundation.
