I would stay far away from this school until they get their leadership team back in order.
We pulled my student from this school last year as there was severe bullying. Students are very cliquey and the new head master is no where to be found. I think he was hired to be a salesperson for the school not a leader! Under the previous headmaster, he made a conscious effort to get to know each and every student and built a trusting relationship with them. He was seen all over campus and the kids respected him and his authority.
Many of the tenured good teachers that made/make GOW are leaving or have left.
There was no communication with parents. I would find out stuff that went on in the dorms way after it had happened, and it wasnt from the school!!
The former head master used to have daily life lessons that you would have with your child at the dinner table, this have disappeared or become very minimal!!
Very minimal social/emotional support for your child.
Really disappointing at what has happened to this school in one short year! It has become way over priced for what you now receive!

I never in a million years thought I would send my daughter to boarding school. But we were living in a smaller community, with few options for kids with learning differences and we really needed to change things up.

Here we are 4 years later My daughter is a senior and just received acceptance to her first choice university. I couldnt be more proud of her, and thankful to Gow School for propelling both her interest in learning and her independence

She has loved her experience, both academic and community. While itll be hard to say goodbye to Gow in the spring, my daughter is confident she has the tools to succeed at the next level.

Gow was an amazing experience, and it changed the course of my son's life. The strong academics are taught using methods that work for these kids in ways that local schools can't do. The teacher ratio is so low that they really spend tons of time one-on-one with open office hours, study halls, and lots of structure. My son would say that it was the teachers and their methods that made all the difference. He is now at a strong university with a great future. GOW will always be one of the most important reasons for his life success. He loved the ski team, but there were so many to choose from for such a small and personal school. The academics were strong, and he even left with college credits that transferred to his current university, saving tuition dollars there. Gow is not cheap, but the facilities are amazing, dorms are fine, resources are amazing, but mostly, it is the community of teachers and staff that made Gow worth every penny. I can't imagine a better place for kids with learning differences to experience themselves in a new and positive way. Gow has this amazing way of taking kids who have been let down by our educational systems and making them into a success with a strong future. THANKS GOW!

The Gow School was life-changing for our family. We have one Gow graduate and a current student. At Gow they approach every student holistically--providing academics that are rigorous and evidence based, addressing each individual's social-emotional needs, and supporting each student in developing their character. As a school that serves students with Dyslexia and language based learning differences, Gow provides the gold standard in reading instruction. Their founder was a contemporary of Orton and Gillingham and his methods informed their work. In addition to this proven method for reading and spelling instruction, Gow instructs students in the use of assistive technology according to their individual needs. My Gow graduate was well prepared for college and thrived there. I can't say enough about the Gow staff and administration, each one is passionate, caring, and professional--truly exemplary and always striving to improve. Even though Gow is a boarding school, they put in a lot of effort to involve parents and create a community for families. Every child deserves a school like Gow!

We had 2 children attend the Gow School. We are so grateful for this school. I don't know where our children would be today without their Gow education. They struggled academically at their previous school and felt very defeated. We sent our oldest son to Gow and when our second child saw how well he was doing, asked to transfer to Gow! Both our children graduated from Gow, went to college -- both receiving scholarships-- and are now working in their chosen fields. I use to think we would be supporting them for the rest of their lives-- they are on their own now!!! Can't thank the Gow school enough for all they do for our kids. The faculty is so dedicated!!!

We reviewed and visited a number of different schools for students with language-based learning differences and are pleased we found Gow. It provides the social, safe and caring environment as well as the academic support and rigor our son needed. In addition to the academics, there are plenty of opportunities (sports, clubs, outings) students can join for fun outside of the academic program. After graduating from Gow, my son was ready for college and has been successful applying the tools and learning strategies he received at Gow. I can't emphasize enough that the teachers (& their families residing on campus), administrators and ground crew provide a truly wonderful and nurturing community that you expect from a small boarding school like Gow. All in all, Gow came through on their promise to ensure my preciously struggling child would succeed academically and thrive as young adult.

The Gow school has been open and welcoming to my daughter and without Gow we thought we would be supporting our daughter financially for the rest of her life. Gow has truly opened up her future for her and she can see her dreams in sight now. Gow brought learning where she was and is teaching in a way that she can learn and understand that has opened up a world of possibilities for her future that frankly her father and I were worried had closed. We cant thank Gow enough for the opportunities it has and will afford our daughter. I would recommend Gow to anyone who has a language based learning disability child 100% !!!

Our daughter is in her second year at The Gow School as a boarding student. Sending ones child off to boarding school is not an easy decision to make, however, it is sometimes the best decision for your child. Our daughter has very severe dyslexia and we explored multiple options and settled on The Gow School for her 8th grade school year and it has been a wonderful experience for her. She loves school and has small classrooms that provide her with a lot of individualized support. She is working hard and it shows. Aside from all of the wonderful academic gains, she is thriving in the girls dormitory, making friends, developing self confidence, and has also discovered a love for skiing during the winter months. We highly recommend this school, knowing that our daughter will benefit tremendously from their knowledge and expertise, it is well worth it.

This is our daughter's fourth year at Gow and she loves it! Her reading has improved so she's now at grade level in reading and above grade level in math and science. When she entered Gow, she was three grade levels behind! We're confident that her preparation at Gow will enable her to succeed in college with minimal support.

The Gow School prepared our son well for college. This boarding school provides a fully immersive program where childrenembrace learning differently. A fully immersive program gives students an opportunity to apply the tools learned everyday and in every class. This is in stark contrast to traditional school environments where one to two hours of support may be offered. We tried traditional schools and I can say with confidence that a couple of hours weekly was insufficient.

Gows coursework can be customized to meet your childs needs, especially if their skills are more advanced in areas like mathematics, arts and writing.
This is a great place for a post graduate year if your son or daughter needs a little more time before college begins.

Similar to many boarding schools, Students must participate in a seasonal sports or other extra curricular activities. It is this experience that teaches mind, body balance and how to be a productive member of their community.

Gows college counseling services was hands on where we did not have to worry about every detail. The faculty really know what they are doing and know which higher educational institutional would work for your son or daughter.

Our son gained back his confidence and became a better version all of himself at The Gow School. He graduated with great memories and friends for life.

I dont recommend this school for anyone of any kind. The teachers arent good as the school says they are. The homework is out of control. So I dont recommend this school

Once upon a time it was a great school and my child was thriving. There became bullying issues in the dorm and the school would not follow the rules in their own handbook. The dorm parents were aware and would notify us of issues but the administration would deny it and twist stories around. If the school would have followed its own rules this would not have happened. Such a shame that the children have to suffer and the school is going downhill. My child doesn't have to suffer emotionally there anymore but how many others will have to go through this before something is done? Not having the program that helped tremendously with his education hurts my child but not having to emotionally suffer anymore is more important. Sad that choice had to be made.

The Gow School changes lives. Children with learning differences find themselves at this school. The teachers, the administrators and every single person who works for The Gow School is very special. They give everything of themselves - the kids know it and parents who send their children to Gow know it. It is a true community that is dedicated to helping children learn, grow and become successful young women and men. We owe everything to Gow for providing my son with the opportunity to find himself, learn that he CAN learn, learn that he is smart and that he will be a success in life.

My son is in his second year at GOW and the change from the public educational system which is failing our kids today, is off the chart. He is reading, writing, communicating, a thousand percent better in a year in a half then 9 years in our failed public school system. So thankful he is at GOW. He is happy too!

The Gow School has been an amazing experience for my son, and one of the best parenting decisions I have ever made. My son has been at Gow for 4 years now. It was very hard to make the decision to send him to boarding school, but no day school in our city could meet his educational needs. Everything about Gow seemed perfect from the start and it has completely met my expectations. The small class size (many 5 or 6 kids !) is unparalleled and exactly what a Dyslexic student needs. My son is both challenged and has the extra attention he needs because of his learning difference. For a relatively small school there is a vast array of sports and extra curricular activities. The facilities are first rate and there are specialty opportunities in fields like robotics, arts and advanced sciences where many Dyslexic students excel. My son also has other supports for executive functioning, organizational skills, test taking, and the top technologies for reading and writing challenges. Gow is also a community of caring faculty and administrators, and a 24/7 boarding school experience that takes the other aspects of my son's life as a teenager seriously. I could not recommend Gow more highly.

The most difficult decision I have ever made in my life was sending my son to boarding school. After research and help from existing Gow parents I made the leap. I am very satisfied with the overall experience. My son connected with his teachers and many were mentors to him. His grades reflected the low student to teacher ratio and I knew he was getting what he needed in class. My son is an introvert but had a chance to put himself in positions of leadership he would not have recieved in a bigger high
school. The established routines of daily life at Gow took pressure off my son so he could focus on learning and studying. As a parent my entire experience with Gow was great! Trust them because they will do all they can to help your child grow and succeed.

I am a teacher of teachers (Ph.d. in Educational Psychology). We chose GOW because it provided all the necessary accommodations for students with Dyslexia, including wonderful emotional and organizational support. As an educator, I am aware of how important differentiated education is to meet the learners' needs. We chose GOW after an extensive experinece of frustration with public school. I hated to have him leave our school and community, but being prepared for college was more important. What I saw at GOW has been everything that is recommended by the SBE (Scientifically Based Evidenced) research. The "staff" is more like family now. They are so responsive to my son's daily needs and also VERY kind to parents' who worry and have lots of questions. I cannot say enough about how every person at GOW, from the headmaster to the administrative staff and teachers have treated our son like he is their own. My son's life has literally been saved by attending this school. That is not an exaggeration. He is learning about being a conscientious student but also about being a kind, honest, responsible young man. I no longer lie awake at night fearing how to ensure he is going to be prepared for college. It really saved my son AND me (and our marriage) now that he is where people understand how to teach him and have a culture that supports him at every level. I miss him horribly, but GOW is very open, letting me visit whenever necessary (more for me, than my son)! I would recommend GOW for any student and family who has learning disabilities and is committed to working hard at growing in every way.

Our son did not graduate from public high school, we were not sure of his options besides the traditional community college. After some testing and applying to the GOW, my son had hope that there is a school that can and does teach to his abilities and will help him into college.

The school does a great job of preparing the student and family for the transition. For us the transition was from public school and moving across the US was seamless. Each student is treated with respect, introduced to others immediately and they adopt to the structured routine easier!

The students are given adequate amount of time to do their homework in a quiet atmosphere with support available. The students are held accountable when work is not completed. They learn to do the work for the right reasons, not because mom said so.

My son just started his second year. I saw small positive changes after the first year. He has started his second year on a completely different level. His attitude and desire to succeed is amazing! Our relationship was always great, but not having to deal with school has changed it dramatically. Our struggles were always around school and homework. That doesn't exist anymore, making our time together incredibly special. Imagine not having to be the one to enforce homework, motivate for school or wake them up in the morning for school! It's life changing for him and the family. He is more confident and independent. I just keep reminding him how lucky he is to have this opportunity and he fully agrees.

Great campus, excellent sports facilities and an enthusiastic professional faculty. We had struggled with schools and finding a suitable school for our son. After months of looking at schools I finally decided to get on the plane and visit the USA. It took us two days of international travelling to get to The Gow School but we are so glad we made the visit. Our son wanted to start right away. It has been the best choice we could have made. Our search is over and the journey to success has begun.

The Gow School has helped my daughter in so many ways. Academics is just one and maybe not even the most important, for her. She was diagnosed with auditory processing which is a language based learning difference that affects her comprehension. She benefitted from small class sizes where she could ask clarifying questions as well as the immense amount of structure. She also struggled with independence and self confidence skills.
The Gow School provides a structure like no other school can because students live there and have to follow their rules. They attend classes six days a week, and have mandatory study hall every evening for 2 hours (Sunday night through Friday night). It has taught her a great lesson, that in order to overcome her struggles, she needs to commit herself to a structured study time every day. That is dedicated time that she knows she will use to get her work done. I know if she were home, shed never be that dedicated. There would be too many distractions. But now, it is something she will take with her to whatever college she attends. She has learned the value of that time. Instead of just surviving in school, she is now thriving. And she is ready for college and life after college. Isn't that a parent's job anyway? Give our children the ability to stand on their own 2 feet - learn life skills, independence, confidence and most of all, be a responsible, honorable person. You get all of this at the Gow School.

Our experience with The Gow School has been amazing. We visited the school several times, not because we weren't impressed, but because we couldn't believe this is really what it was like. Each visit we were more and more amazed at the creativity of the teachers, the expectations they have of their student population. We left a great public school system in Massachusetts because we felt The Gow School would be a life-changing choice for our son. We are SO glad we made this leap of faith, and couldn't be more happier. They make your son WANT to be a better student, not because they have to, but because they want to. The BEST choice we have ever made!!

Our son graduated from The Gow School in 2014 and went on to graduate from college in 3 years! He is now working on getting his master's in Computer Science! Every day we are amazed at his accomplishments and attribute so much of his success to his 4 years at The Gow!

Sending your child to The Gow School is a heart rending experience. Our son struggled all through grammar school. We had tutors, summer programs, extra help at school, fights over homework, getting his back pack organized each day. We were angry, frustrated and tired. I could not image what he felt like. With a great deal of hesitation, my wife convinced me it would be the right spot for him. I was still holding out for the private all-boys high school that my grandfather, father, brothers, uncles and friends attend, the same one most of his friends were going to attend. This was not to be the case for my son. I was worried about who was going to look out for him, help with is homework, talk to him about his day, keep him organized and makes he brushed his teeth! They promised good things would happen while he was at the school. He started at The Gow School last fall and had a fantastic year! He was elected to be a team Captain for two of the teams he played on. He tried new sports, had his first real heart break/ crush and traveled to Peru, made friends from all over the country and the world. He came up 6 grade levels in his reading comprehension levels! All in one school year. Through all of this, he gained confidence in himself because he realized he was not the only kid to struggle with his learning profile. As we load up my wife's car with all of his things and get ready for our trek to South Wales, for the start of his second year, I will say this to any and all who listen, The Gow School is the greatest place on earth for kids with dyslexia.
